Chapter 1New memories and body

In a private dormitory inside the academy, in a clean and spacious room, a young man opened his eyes. A pair of red pupils stared into space in a daze. Confusion was visible in them. As if trying to make heads or tails of his situation, he blinked his eyes several times. When finally it dawned on him the reason for his confusion, he asked himself in disbelief.

"I am alive?"

He wasn't sure how, but before his consciousness faded away, he was on the verge of death after his body failed to contain the sudden increase of mana in his body.

And yet, looking at it, 'Maybe my injuries weren't as critical as I thought?' The young man mused.

Weirdly enough, when he glanced around him, he noticed the room where he was currently looked unfamiliar to him. Though, it looked like an expensive hotel room.

But the fact that he was conscious and breathing speaks of the truth that he was alive.

Suddenly, he felt his back burning. He had no idea how long he was lying on the bed, but this burning sensation in his back was probably due to lying for a long time.

He tried to pull his body to sit. But when he tried to move an inch, "Awww!" A groan escaped his mouth. He grimaced at the excruciating pain that suddenly assaulted him from all over his body. When he waved away the blanket, he saw his body covered with bandages.

Probably, the incident left him with broken parts and wounds.

'As expected, my injuries weren't light,' the young man thought worriedly.

He wasn't surprised at his situation. It was already a miracle that he was alive right now. If there was anything that surprised him, it was his weight. Did he become heavy? He felt more flesh on his body.

Did he become fat after getting confined?

Gremacing and groaning, he didn't give up; he forced his body to sit up. But, it was an ardous challenge.

At that moment, there was a slight creaking noise. He glanced and saw the door was opening. Then, a person entered. Their eyes met for a second, which made the young man looked more confused. He didn't recognize her.

"Eh? Y-Y-Young master!?"

The person exclaimed in a stammering voice that startled him a little.

"Hm?!"

The young man stared at her for a couple of seconds and wondered who she was. No matter how he looked at her, she didn't seem like a nurse from the hospital. Her attire suggested that she was a housemaid.

'Why is a maid here?' He thought.

"You've finally regained consciousness, Youngmaster Klein!" She exclaimed while directing her gaze at him.

The young man frowned. "Who are you?"

"Eh? Uhm, my name is Silk. A personal maid assigned to you, Youngmaster Klein."

The young man looked more confused at her response.

"Personal maid?"

"Yes," she nodded.

Is he or his family someone capable of hiring a personal maid for him? That's impossible. Despite being a high-level solo hunter, he was only capable of feeding himself. A freelancer like him couldn't earn enough to hire a personal maid. Aside from that, there's only him, no siblings and no parents or relatives. He was alone.

There's something else that baffled him though.

"You are calling me Youngmaster Klein just now?"

"Yes!"

"Who is that?"

The maid widened her eyes and said after a short shock, "Youngmaster, could it be that you've lost your memory?!"

Instinctively after hearing that, he double-checked if he could remember about himself. However, there's no doubt, he could still remember everything about himself, from childhood up until now.

After realizing that his memories were fine and intact, "Of course, my memory is fine—"

But before he could finish his words, she dashed away while shouting, "Wait, I'll go call the madam and the doctor!" She tossed away the brooms and dustpan as she rushed outside.

"Wait!"

The young man stared in disbelief as he tried to reach out his hand to stop her from leaving, but she already scuttled away like a gust of wind.

When her figure disappeared from his sight, the young man looked a little dumbfounded and regretful. He wanted to ask her to help him sit.

Never mind, he would just do his best.

After enduring the pain, he succeeded in sitting. However, right before he could feel at ease, he was suddenly attacked by a throbbing pain in his head.

Ngh!

'What's happening? Why does my head suddenly feel like breaking?' Perhaps he forced himself too much.

Sweats like raindrops fall from his face. Then shortly after, an influx of foreign memories appeared. As if a stream of time rushed in his mind.

"What is this? Memories? Klein Dorolt? Who is that?"

Ugh!

It didn't ring a bell and it also didn't sound familiar to him, but why did it feel nostalgic? As though he knew of this name from the very beginning?

The name Klein Dorolt is no doubt his first time hearing it. Surprisingly, new memories appeared in his mind. And then he suddenly had memories of that Klein since he was a child and till now.

'Hasn't the maid called me Klein too just now?' He thought.

'No... I can clearly remember who I am. My real name is Kyle, a solo hunter from my hometown. Perhaps she mistook me for someone.'

But, it didn't make sense to him because at that moment in time he could also remember almost everything about Klein from his childhood upto the present. Everything in those memories was as if he experienced them personally.

He was mentally stunned.

From that point, he felt that something abnormal had happened to him.

It didn't take long for the maid to come back, but she wasn't alone this time. With her were a golden-haired woman and a grey-haired middle-aged man in a long white robe.

The beautiful woman in a purple and white gown shouted as she approached him.

"Klein! Klein! Are you okay? How's your feeling? Do you feel any discomfort? Did you recognize me?" She fired a barrage of questions.

This woman looked unfamiliar and at the same time very familiar to him. According to his other memories, this woman is Klein's mo…ther?

«Klarret Dorolt»

He stared at her with eyes slightly dilated. His mind is in unmeasurable chaos.

Noticing his lack of response, Klarret worried that something very bad had happened to her son.

"Son," She was about to touch him but the young man waved her hand. "Eh?" Klarret was slightly taken aback. Perhaps the maid was right that her son lost his memories.

She glanced at the person in a white robe and said, "Doctor, can you check him?"

"Yes, of course. Then, pardon me…"

Just as the doctor was about to approach him, the young man's lips parted and he slowly opened his mouth.

"C-Can I borrow a mirror, please?" He said in a small voice.

Eh?

The maid, the doctor, and the woman looked surprised upon hearing his request. None of them could respond right away.

"I remember everything but I wanted to confirm something," he added in a weak voice.

A second after a short surprise, "Quick, bring him a mirror!" Klarret Dorolt shouted at the maid. She felt relieved after hearing from him that he remembered everything.

"Yes!"

The maid rushed outside the room for the second time.

"Son, if you're so worried about your face, don't worry, you're still as handsome as before. If that freak had done something to ruin your face, I promise I won't stop until I bring down his whole lineage to the ground!"

Hm?

The young man was a little shaken by her words. It was a dangerous thing to say. Anyway, his face wasn't his main concern. What he meant is that beauty is not the reason why he requested a mirror but the persona.

When he looked in the mirror, the first thing that registered in his eyes was the plaster on his face. However, that wasn't his main reason either for checking his face in the mirror.

As expected, upon looking at himself in the mirror, he learned a shocking truth. That person inside the mirror is not black-haired but blonde. Not brown-eyed but red. Not a will-chiseled face but chubby. Not the solo hunter Kyle, who he was supposedly, but Klein Dorolt. The Klein Dorolt in his other memories.

'My soul fused into Klein Dorolt's body?!' He exclaimed in his thoughts.

That means he indeed died after his mana burst?!

It happened after he absorbed a high-grade Ether Stone. It seemed his level was not enough to contain such a huge amount of mana increase, thus it ruined his body.

"See? I told you nothing happened to your face, right? Hehe."

He heard Klarret say, but the young man just put down the mirror and lowered his head.

Looking at his dejected gesture, "Klein, son, are you okay? Don't worry my son, those gashes will disappear in no time. And about the commoner, I'll make sure to make him pay for what he did to you. I know outsiders can't interrupt the academy, but I promised I'll use all my connections!" There was a determined expression on her face as Klarret said that.

"Can you leave me for now? I want to be alone," he said in a slightly cold tone.

Hm?

With a frown, Klarret said, "A-alright, but…" She hesitantly left the room along with the doctor and the maid.

When finally he was alone, his eyes shook.

'What the hell!' He exclaimed inwardly.

This also meant that he truly died in that incident and reincarnated in a different body. Now, he needed to calm down and think carefully about his situation.

I'm not sure. Maybe you should go and ask the most intelligent beings across the two realms. Oh wait, you can't. I killed them all.” ______ My name is Samael Kaizer Theosbane. On the last day of high school, I got into a fight with a kid I used to bully. It was a stupid, pointless scuffle, and in the middle of it, I tripped and hit my head on a rock. That’s when the memories came flooding in - the memories of another life, of a different world. Suddenly, everything made a twisted kind of sense. I realized two things. First, I was in a game I used to play in my past life. Second, I was a villain. A villain! Not the cool and mysterious kind, either. No, my destiny was to be manipulated and die a dog's death! I was the worst type of cliché: an ungrateful, privileged, insufferable young master. The sort you'd find in those poorly written fantasy stories. The kind everyone hates — a snobby brat from a powerful noble family who thinks he owns the world just because he was born with a silver spoon lodged in his mouth. You know the type. The one the hero beats to a pulp to prove his worth. Yeah, I was that guy. And the hero? The hero was the kid I’d been bullying all this time. The same one I got into a fight with. He was the supposed savior of this damned world. A world teetering on the edge of destruction, beset by wars, calamities, and a grim future that only I knew. And at the end of it all, the final antagonist of the game, the undefeatable boss… the Spirit King, was waiting. But could I even make it to the end? Could I conquer a game where defeat was the only certainty? A game that was now my reality! “Ah, fuck it.” I had no idea if I could, but I sure as hell was going to try. Extorting extras, manipulating main characters, twisting the story to my advantage, stealing the hero’s cheat items, killing villains before they could become threats - nothing was beneath me. Would the main characters be affected? Who cares! Would the story change? Even better! All I cared about was me—my survival, my life, my choices. “I will live this life with no regrets.” …But as I soon discovered, fate was not easily changed. And the price of altering one's destiny was steep.
