8 A Lost Necklace

The wind in the desert was warm in afternoon, the sun scorched the sand, the sand ship slid over the sand like a ship on the sea, the sand under the ship for Omega felt like the sea. The ship was a new experience for omega since the last one he navigated the sands with was, well half broken and this one was brand new, but slower for it wasn't a hunter's ship.

After a long time navigating through the sands he arrived at the giant corpse of the Jhen Morhan. It still laid there. It had the gashed of the battle of the boat, the markings of the ballista and cannon shots in its hide, and the horns that laid near the dead Jhen Morhan's head cut down to simple stumps on its head. Omega stopped the boat and descended into the ship to exit. I wish I could take it all but I'll take a bit of hide, a couple scales and the horns. Omega quickly went to work moving the the horns onto the ship and collected some of the beast's scales and hides and bits of its tongue and fins. He attached them the net on the back of the ship and set out again. He needed to have proof of the Jhen Mohran's death to receive a reward from Graen. The ship was slower with the weight of the materials on the ship and this made the trip even longer than on the way there, night was falling fast again in the desert and as he navigated the sands, he saw a large variety of creature, like rhenoplos, which were small herbivore, armored beasts that walked on all fours and a Nibelsnarf, that was swimming around the desert. They seem in peace now that the Jhen Morhan is dead.

Omega arrived at the port and discharged the materials and he gave them to the blacksmith. He then headed to the palace once again and he was greeted by a servant telling him that Naomi wanted to see him. He headed to her room, she was sitting up right on her bed and Omega sat next to her on her bed.

"You can sit up right, is your back okay?" Omega said.

"Ish, I needed help to get up but I need a lot more to even help to just lay down so, yeah," She responded.

"Oh well it's better than yesterday evening when you couldn't move your arm because of your shoulder." Omega said trying to comfort her.

"What did you do today?" Naomi asked, "Did you fight anything or do something exciting?"

"Sorry to let you down but, all I did was go back to the Jhen Morhan to get pieces to prove to your father, Graen, that we had actually killed it because when he saw you injured he didn't want you to hear that he didn't believe his own daughter and seeing you injured made him forget about the proof," Omega explained, "So today I took a sand ship and returned to the area of the battle and I brought you something I had forgotten to take when you fell," He pulled out a small necklace with Naomi's family's crest.

"I didn't notice it at all I thought I had left it here somewhere," She said as she moved her arms to grab the necklace but Omega instead of giving it to her, he put it around her neck. She rested her head on Omega's shoulder and then asked him to help her lay down.

"How are your parents? Are they fine with you leaving and being a hunter?" Naomi asked.

"Well, both my parents were hunters," Omega explained, "My father taught me how to use a heavy bowgun and my mother taught me how to use a light bowgun and I taught myself to use a bow,"

"You said they were, what do you mean? Are they too old to hunt?" Naomi asked curiously.

"When I met you it would have been their 30th anniversary," Omega said as a tear came to his eye, "A Lagiacrus attacked our village and killed both my parents who were defending it and my mother had told me to run and not to turn back, I never went back," At this point, Omega had more and more tears were sliding down his cheeks.

"Oh… sorry, I didn't mean to bring back those memories."

"Good night, I'll be getting to sleep," Omega said coldly as he turned around and left the room.

"No, stay please, please…" Naomi said as she broke into tears.

The next day, Omega woke and planned to leave the city but he had to get his reward. He put his armor on and packed his things and planned to get his reward and leave. It was early morning, he looked in Naomi's room and saw she was still sleeping and she still had the mark of tears on her cheeks. He sighed and went to the throne room and saw Graen talking with a figure that he recognized. Probably not him, I thought the king had exiled him and he wasn't allowed back into the city.

"Graen, I am here for my reward."

"It is not yet ready, you might have to wait quite some time."

"Yes, Sir," Omega sighed as he turned and walked out of the throne room. He wasn't leaving without his reward.

Omega went back to his room and past to see if Naomi was awake. She still wasn't, Well, it is still early and she needs to rest and recover, he thought as he walked back to his room.

After a month of waiting, Naomi could finally get up and walk but only with an armor built to support her back and only lightweight armor. She walked with a small limp and she couldn't lift much weight and touching her shoulders hurt her. But their relation developed and became better and better.

The days went by and Naomi was able to walk more and more until finally being able to walk with no limp and no support. Omega returned to the King and asked for his reward. To his surprise, Naomi was talking with his father in the throne room, she rarely went to the throne room and talked to him when she saw him around the palace.
