Before Elections

Erica smirked, seeing how spacey Yumiko was. The blonde Queen Bee's mind was catching up. The blonde knight is somewhat curious about how regular people react to the supernatural.

All of them react differently. Some get scared; others get arrogant as if they will get some upper hand against average people.

Even though she was not even twenty, she saw some exciting things. However, it all paled the moment she started living with a Godslayer.

Watching a Godslayer entertaining himself with regular people is— strange.

It reminds her of book stories where devils play with mortal lives.

'Hmm, is that one of the reasons why Campiones are being called Demon Kings? As they are all mighty, yet they toy with mortals?'

In a sense, she just confirmed that statement.

As Erica pondered on this, the girl in question, Yumiko, was also in deep thought.

Her thoughts were what was waiting for her. The Goddess' words were still ringing in her mind. The Goddess Athena called her 'pet'.

It was insulting, but she can't deny that. It makes her mad.

But what can she do? She realised that Raynor's harem has its 'uses' in how they stand out.

The Ice Queen knows how to manage; she is his secretary, and then he has his Knight, Witch, and Shrine Maiden.

They all do something for him when he needs them.

And then there is the idol. That girl is self-explanatory. She is his entertainment.

So what can she do? She never deeply thought about what she would do. There was always that feeling that she had time. But then this guy came over and kissed her and turned her life completely around.

In a sense, it forced her to think, how can she be helpful to a Mad Gods slaying individual!?

'Ugh…my head hurts!'

"My Queen Bee~ relax~" Raynor poked her cheek with a finger before rubbing his cheek into hers.

"...as if! I just realised that I have no idea what is going on!" The girl didn't resist his snuggles; it was more like she registered them!

"Hmm? How come? Just be yourself. You are a Queen Bee, so just do that. Your talent is in making people listen to you. You have that presence."

"..."

For a second, she pondered on that. Storm King's idea made some sense to her.

"...I see. Miura is good at advertising. I could do that, too! But I am your knight." Erica nodded after hearing that suggestion.

"So she would make a good orator? Or is it suitable for gathering people? Like a cult speaker?" Liliana mumbled to herself as she was speaking out loud. Her words made Yumiko look at her with a deadpan look.

'Cult speaker? Is she for real!?'

But then she realised that the girl was a literal witch. The silverhead might even have seen a real cult!

"I guess I can do that." The green-eyed blonde girl sighed. Her gaze went to the side; she realised Raynor was hugging her like a Teddy bear.

'Whatever…'

Usually, she should be annoyed and would ask for some space. But—

Now, it doesn't matter anymore.

"Great. You have that Blandelli confidant aura." Liliana said with a nod.

"Hey! Don't treat me like some brand!" The blonde knight complained to her best friend and rival.

"Brand? Nope, it's a behaviour term."

"Behaviour term!? When did you start doing that!?"

"Since I started writing." Liliana rolled her eyes. She has been picking up some suggestions from Utaha.

"..."

Raynor smiled, seeing those two behaving like that.

"Take your time, Yumiko; it's not like we are running out of time."

"..."

While Erica and Liliana are bickering in their unique style, Yumiko is thinking about what to do. Yukino pointed out that they must work on his objective!

So he can't delay this any further!

"Sir, what should we do? Lord wishes to become the Student Council President! Should we rig it in some way?" Intelligence operative asked his subordinate. Their surveillance has discovered that Raynor wants to run for the Student Council President position.

Such a situation is something they have considered before. Since the Godslayer wants the whole 'experience'. So, electing into such a position was in the cards.

"No. It's fine. Our Lord wants a legitimate experience. We can't interfere."

"Even if he loses?"

"Yes, even if he loses the elections."

"...But…what if he gets mad for losing!?" The operative paled when he considered that!

"it is what it is."

"...Sir…"

"I know, I know. The issue is that we have no idea what to do. We can't interfere." The commanding officer said with a complicated look. The guy was anxious like any other person would.

After all, they are talking about a Godslayer who can control the weather. The guy could easily drown their island nation.

"Sir, we can still impact indirectly somehow! It's an election. We could make pamphlets or other things! Send some suggestions! We could send it to Yukinoshita! That girl is like his manager, is she not!?" The intelligence officer exclaimed he was at wits end.

"True. Our Lord might have asked us for genuine school experience, and we will give it to him, but it's not the same with his court. Yukinoshita is a perfectionist who will ensure that the Lord will get the best chance possible to become the Student Council President." The commanding officer nodded with some excitement! It was as if he was seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

~~~~~~Next Day~~~~~~
Yukino looked at her government-issued phone. She was pleasantly surprised that the Intelligence Bureau wanted to help her with Raynor's elections.
'I should have known. The government doesn't want Raynor to lose; this is cheating, in a way. Not that I care…'
In a normal situation, she would have declined. But this is not a normal situation. Her King would be very disappointed in failed elections.
She has this feeling he would do something— drastic, which is terrible. They should rig the elections instead of allowing someone else to get voted and then die by a lightning strike or something like that.
As she thought about this, the black-haired girl checked what they could offer.
'Isn't it nice? They could get some 'professional' help for us.'
While this COULD help her, she couldn't just leave his side. She could leave his side if Ai were here. That girl can easily steal his attention for several hours at a time.
"It's quite naughty that you are using your girls to 'recommend' you for the Student Council President position, Valeron-san," Hiratsuka-sensei said with a forced smile.
"All fair in love and war, sensei." Raynor 'sagely' said to his homeroom teacher.
"Which parts of 'love' and 'war' are in this?" The Modern Japanese teacher asked while messaging her forehead.
"Well, elections are popularity contests, so it's more like a game to get all those likes." He explained while raising his finger; it looked like he was the one who was teaching here.
"Riiiight…"
"Anyway, you got enough recommendations to enter the race for the position of Student Council President. Good luck."
After entering the race, Raynor left the faculty office, and his girls followed him.
"I don't think she likes you that much." Erica teased him with a small smile.
"I guess I am her antithesis; she wants that one 'guy' while here I am with all my ladies." He wrapped his hands around his blonde knight and hugged her.
"Though don't mention that to the teacher; she looks trigger-happy," Ena said from the side.
"She does?"
"Yes, and she probably practised martial arts in her youth."
The group continued to talk about the teacher, who was still at a listening distance, which made Hiratsuka-sensei's eyebrows twitch from annoyance.
Thankfully, they left before she truly 'lost it'.
"Hmm… what do you think?" Utaha showed the manuscript to Raynor.
The Storm King proceeded to read his 'speech'.
"...Impressive. Are you sure this is for a school and not real-life politics?" Yukino, who read over Raynor's shoulder, asked the writer girl.
"It's not that hard. Think like it's cooking; you take student values, what Valeron could potentially offer, mix them up and then sprinkle some motivational tunes, like; We could, we will, together we can. And bam, you have a hype speech." if not for her bored tone, it would have sounded impressive. But this time around, it was terrifying for the girls.
Why? Because she could make a good speech for some dictator and easily elect him for president, this girl is just that good!
"This is good. Are you sure you don't want to join my court? My powers could help you float around since you like laziness." He suggested it to her once again.
"...Heh… you need to try harder if you want to seduce me, mister." The girl had a teasing sparkle in her eyes. She placed her finger on his lip.
"It's not enough~."
"Oh, do you have a suggestion~?"
He didn't remove her finger; instead, he looked into her eyes. In a sense, the pair were flirting
While the pair started throwing suggestive words at each other, Raynor's other girls looked at them curiously. They had never seen a girl acting this boldly in front of him.
Is it naivete? Or this writer girl knows how far she can go?
It's a curious sight, that's for sure.
The teasing lasted throughout the club hours; Raynor even got the writer girl to sit on his lap, as the teasing ended with challenges. One should not underestimate how far he can go!
As everyone was going back, Yukino checked her phone. She pondered on what to do throughout the whole day.
She came up with an idea.
"What do you say if we order some pamphlets? Decorations and things like that?" Yukino asked her boyfriend as they were walking home.
"That's great. Don't presidents have mottos and stuff like that?"
"Yes, slogans. It's quite popular in America, I do believe." The black-haired girl said with a pondering look.
"Not just in America but in all democratic countries."
"You sure are knowledgeable about this stuff." She said with an impressed tone. She has no idea why he cares about politics; she doesn't, but this guy does.
"It's a game thing."
"It is?"
"Try playing grand strategy games and things like that; you will start picking up peculiar hobbies. Sure I did. Like Romans, Greek and some other historical stuff."
"...And how is that related to elections!?"
"Hmm? What do you mean by 'how'? They all started as democracies but ended up as empires. Greeks had their Alexander The Great moments and then, later on, the Byzantine Empire. While Roman started as a republic but ended up as an Empire."
She blinked a couple of times. This guy is knowledgeable! But in the wrong ways! Or is it? Since he is fighting Heretic Gods, his weird knowledge will be helpful.
"Then, why are you not like that in maths or chemistry classes!?"
The black-haired girl asked with a somewhat confused look. It's like he is super knowledgeable about one thing but clueless about other things!
"I am weeb, not an honour student. That's your job." He said with a 'duh'.
"Right…"
"Yep, hobbies take priority; they breed curiosity. If a guy likes something to the point that it consumes the majority of his time, then he will naturally be more knowledgeable about that specific thing.
Take you, for example; you care a lot about your studies; you study everything related to your curriculum. But you don't review upfront to a specific point. Because that would be unnecessary, isn't it?"
"..."
"..."
For a second, she looked spooked by what he said. This guy…
"See? I could be an honour student like you. But— it's boring. I don't see the point of such a thing. It's like the stock market or private property market. I see it's not valuable, so I don't invest my time in it."
"I get it! There is no point rubbing salt on it."
Yukino can't believe she got roasted on 'studies are not worth investing'.
