12 CHAPTER 12 : LIES

Akira opened his eyes and looked down at the sleeping girl in his arms. He pushed aside the lock of hair on her forehead and kissed her. He wished he could stay in bed with her and watch her sleep so peacefully, but he had serious matters to attend to. He sat up quietly, making sure not to wake the sleeping girl and slipped off the couch.

He grabbed his clothes from the floor and quickly dressed up. He then grabbed a fleece from another chair and gently covered the naked girl. After he had dressed up, grabbed his keys and phone, he crouched down beside her, stroked her hair and smiled.

"I promise I'll protect you with my life." He whispered to the sleeping girl and kissed her cheek.

Marley was awoken by the sound of her alarm. She opened her eyes slowly and winced when the light from the window struck them. She sat up and felt a dull pain run up her back. Had she fallen asleep on the sofa?
