I slowly came to consciousness after that, and felt numbness and pain radiate all through me. The smells of disinfectant and the bed I was on made it abundantly clear where I was.

While my head was pounding, I organized all the information I had gained in my hallucination/vision/revelation.

As I went over the do's and don't's, I felt pretty stupid for trying to use an unmastered superpower while driving. As if people don't get in enough accidents already under normal circumstances.

Wincing both mentally and figuratively, I tried turning to get water from the stand next to me, when a pale hand grabbed it first and poured out a glass.

Looking up slowly, I felt a jolt of fear run through me as I was greeted with the expressionless face and blank stare of Edythe. With her doll like appearance, that blank visage looked extremely terrifying.

"Um, hey there Edythe. Didn't notice you there… Ahaha.. ha..ha…" my pathetic attempt at lightening the situation with humor, failed spectacularly in front of the terrifying stare of Edythe, which only got more scary after the humor attempt.

"Drink, I will get Carlisle" Edythe said monotonously while handing me the glass. As she walked away slowly, I quickly drained the glass while wiping away the sweat on my forehead.

'Man, she can be scary as a hell demon when she wants to be. Anyway, if the injury was really as bad as I thought I might not be getting any reprieve from her.'

'on second that, that behaviour is weird if I am being honest, because we are not even in an official relationship yet.' I mused, while I gingerly pressed my chest and ribs with a finger to see where it hurt the most.

'Well looks like apart from the muscular damage, ribs number 2, 3 and 4 are the problem. Hmm, I wonder what MAMMOTHS taught me can be useful here.' I thought as I put the glass I was holding next to the bruised rib area.

"Ah, with the cool surface it feels good even without my powers. But lets get my focus back on. Breathe in, Breathe out, and then try to Breathe in from the skin."

It took a few seconds, but this time I was able to get back into the zone more easily. This time I clearly felt the sensations MAMMOTHS instructed, I could feel a weird type of energy seeping from the glass into me.

The next instant I felt my chest area become more solid and durable, and more pleasant in a weird way. I directed that energy of transformation to my ribs as they were hurt the most.

If I remembered correctly, then MAMMOTHS had explained that injuries can be healed during material transformation. I think the logic behind it was somewhat like taking more clay to patch up a clay doll.

Whatever the working principle was, I could feel my chest feeling much better than before. I figured that at least my ribs would have been completely healed, as I directed most of that transformation energy towards it. I quickly dispelled my transformation, couldn't risk anyone finding out about it, not even Edythe.

It turned out to be the right decision, as Edythe arrived with an extremely handsome and tall guy, with golden blond hair and pale skin, walked towards me with a pleasant and comforting smile.

Something about him immediately made me want to smile and tell him all my troubles. He walked towards me while putting on a doctor's coat, along with a stethoscope, and started looking through some reports on a clipboard, most probably mine.

Edythe sat by my side, with the same blank expression and after a few moments the doctor put the clip board aside.

"Hello Krishna, I am Dr. Carlisle Cullen. You would know me better as Edythe's dad I suppose" he said with a teasing grin to me.

"Well, I will go with some rudimentary procedure for now. Try to breathe in and tell me if it hurts." he said while gently pressing the bruised areas at the side of my chest. I did as he asked, and since I had already healed my ribs, I honestly told him that the bruised area felt slightly sore but I was fine overall.

"Well, I don't know whether to say you have an unfortunate or a great luck young man" Carlisle said while marking a few things on his clipboard.

"You got in a hell of an accident, that should have typically got you a few broken bones or in the worst cases some extremely serious injuries. But you got out with barely a few bruises. But on the other hand, I cant say the same for your car, as from what I heard that one will never run again."

The news about my car made me wince more than the possible fatal injuries I could have got in the accident. 'Sigh, its is the end of an era. We had a good run, you an I, didn't we?' I shed a few tears mentally.

"Well, I think you just need some rest and I will prescribe you with some painkillers for a comfortable sleep." Carlisle said as he wrote out a prescription.

"Dr. Cullen," I called out and he turned towards me "Can I go and rest at home? As you said, I just have a few bruises, no worse than I could have got in a bad game practice. I think resting at home will do me more good than here."

"Okay, I can understand that. But do you have anyone at home to take care of you for at least a few days?" Carlisle asked

"No, not really--" I started to say.

"I will go with him" Edythe spoke from my side. Carlisle turned towards her and they locked eyes for a few moments, before Edythe gave a slight jerk of her head that could be seen as a 'yes'.

"Alright then Mr. Kalmyk, I will ready your papers. You can leave at anytime you like. As Edythe is going with you, I don't think I need to call for any transportation for you." Carlisle said as he walked out and closed the door, leaving a poor mouse (me) trapped with a terrifying cat (Edythe).

I waited for her to speak while she just sat still while glaring at me, barely blinking between long intervals.

"Um, Edythe? Can you say anything? This is getting kind of awkward," I tried breaking the ice helplessly.

"What do you want me to say?" she asked me in a measured tone.

"Um I don't know. You offered to take care of me, so I am guessing you care about me a bit at the least."

"Scold me, shout at me, do something else other than just sitting there like that, please? If you want you can even slap-" I had barely got out the word before a crisp sound echoed in the room, while my head abruptly turned to the other side.

I felt as if a cold metallic flyswatter had just struck my cheek with enough force to make it ache. As I slowly turned back, I saw Edythe with a livid expression on her face with her eyes slightly scrunched up, as if she wants to cry by couldn't get the tears out.

"Do you think this is a joke? Do you treat your own life like some toy to be played with?" Edythe began her scolding, her voice low and controlled, but the fury in it was evident.

"No, of course I don't-"

"Do you have any idea what it was like to see your car that banged up while have no way to reach you? Good thing Carlisle is my dad and he could assure me that you were fine and not in danger. Otherwise I would have to keep wondering the state you were in and if you would recover."

"Even after that, I had to stay by your side for hours until I saw the barest hint of you coming back to consciousness. Every minute of the wait was hell for me, at one point I even started doubting the capabilities of Carlisle, despite knowing exactly how good he is at what he does." Edythe raged without giving any hint of letting up.

I just listened in silence, I had no words to reply or counter anything she said. Since I was at the accident myself, I know exactly how bad it was. If not for the partial activation of my power I am not sure I would have survived.

I opened my mouth to say something or reassure her I would have been fine, before I saw the complicated expression on her face and decided to hold off till she finishes.

"Look Krishna, I honestly don't know exactly what I feel about you or why did I get so upset seeing you hurt like that. I know that is not how someone who just met you should have reacted."

"All I know is I don't want you getting hurt like that ever again. So, God help me if I ever hear or see you being reckless again, because I will bear the title of 'Crazy Chick' and chain you to me if that is what it takes to keep you safe." Edythe said with finality in her tone.
