Everyone sighed at that before Emmett turned to Edward "So what is he like? Lecherous towards our Edythe like most of the school or a halfway decent guy?"

"Sorry Emmett," Edward apologized "My interest was piqued by that Swan girl so I didn't pay attention to him. You know that I drone out most of the chatter right."

Edward turned to Edythe"What about you Edythe? You touched him a few times while flirting. You must have got everything on him, since the day he was born to how many girls he has been with."

"Yeah, about that," Edythe said slowly "I couldn't get a read on him."

"What do you mean?" Alice asked curiously.

"I tried both the surface mind-reading and the touch one" Edythe clarified "but each time it was as if I was listening to someone who was inside a body of water while I was on the outside of it."

Edythe shook her head as if trying to shake away a weird feeling, "It is as if his thoughts are the softest whisper that is barely out of my clarity range. No matter how much focus and energy I spend, they are like ripples in the pond."

"That is weird," Edward said "One of the reasons I was intrigued by the Swan girl was because of her perfectly blank mind, even though she was talking about us and especially me. What are the odds that we would encounter two such cases in one day Edythe?"

"Maybe it's connected or maybe not, Edward," Edythe said, "Either way we should look into this more, investigate thoroughly."

"Right~," Alice said in a teasing tone "So, what you mean to say is, you will be going out with him after school today. Am I right?"

"You bet your sweet little ass I will," Edythe said with a grin in return.

After parting with Edythe, I checked the schedule to see I had a Biology-II class waiting for me. However for some reason I was feeling more hungry than usual today.

Deciding that I had enough time to have another quick snack before bell rings for the class, I quickly ordered another pack of fries and a soda and started wolfing it down.

Just as I was about to finish few final pieces, the bell rang in the irritating way it always does. I hurriedly swallowed the rest down and washed them down with soda.

Hurrying to class I found Bella being pointed to her seat by the teacher. I apologized to him for being late, making excuse that it was my first day, and gave him my slip.

He checked it then looked around the class for an empty seat. Through luck or coincidence, I saw Edythe waving at me and pointing the seat she was in at the very back of the class. The teacher saw her waving to me, and with a surprised expression on his face, he asked me to go sit with her.

On the way to her, I saw her emo brother Edward glaring at Bella, who was seated next to him, with pitch black eyes. Something about him felt off to me, but I couldn't very well do anything about it right now. I walked about to Edythe and sat beside her with a grateful smile.

"Thanks Edythe" I said gratefully "sitting next to someone I know is a big relief. I am not that good at making friends or participating in social chatter."

"No problem" she said as she slightly nudged me with her shoulder "Why were you late though? Day-dreaming about our date later? Or just Plain day-dreaming about me?"

"Well, what if it was the former?" I asked, testing the waters.

"In that case, I would ask you whether you have never been out on a date with a beautiful girl before." Edythe smirked in reply.

"Well, beautiful simply doesn't do enough justice to the said girl" I replied as her smile became marginally wider "and what if I said the latter option?"

"Then I would inquire what magic potion did the cute, tall yet shy boy drink to suddenly make him so brave an forthcoming." Edythe whispered near my ear swiftly before jerking her head back.

A shiver ran up my spine when I felt her breath hitting my ear and I smelt the faint wisp of her sweet breath.

"And if I said it was neither of those?" I said, continuing our little game.

"Then I would take you to my dad Carlisle and ask him to check your head for injuries." Edythe said while rolling her eyes.

After a few seconds of silence, we both gave a few soft chuckles, me trying me best not to snort out loud. While chuckling I happened to glance at Bella in front, and found her hunching down in distress.

I noticed that this was due to the fact that Edward kept glaring at her, while also trying to be at maximum distance away from her he could possibly be on that small desk.

I stealthily pointed that out to Edythe, "Hey, is your Brother alright?"

"Oh Edward," Edythe went silent for a few moments as she glanced towards Edward intently. To my surprise, Edward slightly tilted his head as if he was listening to something, before he slowly sat straight, seemingly with great effort. As soon as he did, Edythe turned towards me with a smile.

"Don't mind Edward, he has always had some weird quirks that flare up at random timings." Edythe said "Or it may be just that he is not feeling so well. Don't worry, he will be fine."

"I hope he gets well soon." I said as I take another glance at stiffly seated Edward "Speaking of your Brothers and Sisters, are you guys truly brothers and sisters?"

Seeing her stare at me in silence upon my inquiry I hurriedly clarified, "I mean as in blood relation, because despite the fact that you all are incredibly similar looking, I am just not able to see you as brothers and sisters."

"Well, to be honest our bond is more than that of blood relation" Edythe said "but technically we are all adopted brothers and sisters. But Edward and me are truly siblings, twins actually."

"Twins?" I asked "But your hair.."

"Oh that," Edythe said waving her hand dismissively "A while back Edward and I had a somewhat serious fight."

"At the end of it, I was kind of pissed at him and didn't want to look like a female mirror image of him. Hence I found particularly strong version of a dye and applied it. Here, look at my eyebrows, you might be able to see few strands of reddish-bronze similar to Edward."

Her head came a bit too close and I froze while looking at those liquid gold like eyes so close to me. She seemed to realize what she had done, because she swiftly pulled back while giving a small fake cough.

"Sorry about that" Edythe apologized with a slight nervousness "I … I haven't been like this with anyone else. I am not even this cheery or talkative usually."

"But something about you just makes me want to relax and be myself without restraint. Sorry if that felt a bit annoying or overwhelming."

Covering her fingers gently with my own for a moment I gave her a smile of understanding. "Its fine Edythe. Didn't I tell you this the first time we met? If we have to suppress who we are unnecessarily just to fit in, then its not worth to fit in."

"I will not be judging you for anything you have done around me. Besides, I found that more adorable and endearing than annoying." I said reassuringly.

She smiled gratefully and turned to focus on the class we had been missing so far. But coincidentally or intentionally, she forgot to remove the hand I was covering with mine, nor did I point it out.

I decided to be a little bold too and let out hands be exactly as they were. It was as if we were playing a game of chicken, all the while having a weird smoldering tension between us.

As soon as the bell rang, Edward rushed out of the class like a bullet. He was so quick that I thought he had left the seat a moment before we even heard the first peal of the bell.

Looking at Edythe questioningly, I saw her eyebrows scrunched in a worried frown as she looked at the doorway through which Edward had hurried away.

"Krishna, I will have to go and check up on my brother" Edythe said in a worried tone "Anyway I was going to skip the Gym class which is next for me."

After thinking for a moment, she gave an exasperated sigh and continued speaking, "Its possible that I may have to take Edward home so that Carlisle can take a look at him. Can I take a rain check for that date?"

"As long as it is a date" I smirked cheekily.

She grinned in response while leaning forward and her lips swiftly and briefly brushed against my cheek, sending another jolt of current down my spine.

"Oh, I am pretty sure it is a date." Edythe smirked at my reaction before swiftly walking out of the class. All I could do at that moment was just look at her walking away, sporting a small goofy grin on my face that I was sure would gain another smirk from her.
