5 Dragonia

As I said, Dragonia is a female dragon that was rescued by Ambrose when she was just a baby. Her parents were murdered by dragon hunters. Dragon hunters hunt dragons for their teeth and scales. The teeth can be sold for a lot of gold, but not nearly as much as the scales.

There is a legend that the scales of a dragon have magical healing powers. If anyone was to get their hands on even one scale, they can heal a broken bone or a sick person just by touching them with it. If you can manage to get your hands on a few of them, you can bring someone back from the brink of death.

Now, a lot of knights and dragon hunters would go out and hunt the dragons down and kill them for their scales. The dragon hunters killed the dragons mainly to sell the scales off to the highest bidder. Most of the time those high bidders were kings. If a knight was to kill a dragon, they would use the scales to make armor. Armor made from dragon scales made a knight almost invincible.

To a lot of people, dragons are looked at as beasts, or monsters. They are frightened of them. If a person has enough gold, and feel threatened by dragons, they may higher a dragon hunter to kill them to protect their families.

Because of all these reasons, people have been killing the dragons off left and right. Dragonia's parents were the last of their kind of dragons, known as the winged dragons. They were huge beasts with massive wings. Their heads were big with a long snout and a crown of scales and horns along the top. These types of dragons were the most rare and the most beautiful. They were the ones hunted the most.

The night Dragonia's parents were killed, dragon hunters had stormed the cave they had lived in, that was located on the side of the mountain. They came in at night while all three of them were asleep. Dragonia's parents fought effortlessly, but the dragon hunters had a special weapon, the dragon spear. A dragon spear was a special spear that was made out of the bones of the first dragon. There were, in total, three spears made. Each of the spears were then dispersed throughout the world, given to the oblate people. Oblates were monk-like people who lived in isolated parts of the world. They were sworn to protect the dragons, and other mystical creatures at any cost.

During the King's War, war that was between three brothers that were triplets fighting for the right to be king, the dragon hunters caught wind of where one of these spears were located, in the Crotaline Mountains. Once they caught wind, they invaded the Oblates' sanctuary, killing most of the oblates and taking one of the dragon spears. One dragon spear was enough to kill a dragon, however, if you have all three you can win a war against the dragons.

After Dragonia's parents were killed, the dragon hunters kidnapped her and sold her to the highest bidder Olsom, a high knight of King Castellan, and a ruthless fighter. He was known as being very mean towards others around him, he was also Ambrose's father. Olsom had planned on raising Dragonia to be a fighter. He felt that if he had a dragon on his side, especially one like Dragonia, there was no way he would ever lose. He would lock her in a dark dungeon like room, only bringing her outside when he wanted to train her.

Ambrose would watch his father torment Dragonia. One night, after everyone was asleep, Ambrose stole the key to where she was locked up, and released her. He lead her into the woods and there he stayed with her, gaining her trust, until the two of them became inseparable. He never went back home, instead, he and Dragonia found an abandoned dragon cave deep in the woods, behind a waterfall, that they decided to call home.

Today, when Ambrose ran into Forest, he and Dragonia were out hunting for food. Dragonia, still young in mind, even though she had grown massive in size in the past year they had been gone, had decided to chase rabbits. She loved playing with the other animals in the woods and would chase them around like a dog or a small puppy would.

Dragonia had just locked on to her target, a small white bunny nawing on some grass blades in the small clearing. She locked eyes with the rabbit, and was just about to pounce, when she heard Ambrose's voice calling her, distracting her from her chase.

"Dang it Ambrose!" she said through mindtalk. Certain dragons, mostly the type that Dragonia is, can use a form of mindtalk to communicate with humans. They do not communicate with all humans though, only those that they deem worthy. After Ambrose helped her escape the clutches of his father, and left everything he knew to live with her in the woods, she decided he was deemed worthy and let him into her head.

"You messed up my game! I was just about to win!" she whined, turning to face Ambrose's direction and stopping short when she sees Forest. "Who is this?" she asked both curious and cautiously.

"I found him in the woods, he doesn't seem to know where he is. Hey Drago, do you remember your parent's telling you anything about other worlds?" he asks pointing to Forest's outfit. "As you can see he is not from around here. He said he was in a library but woke up out here."

Forest kicked his feet from side to side, somewhat uncomfortable with them talking about him like he's not even there, especially when the only person he can hear speak is Ambrose.

"I remember my father telling me stories about other worlds, but I have never heard of otherworld people coming here," she said to Ambrose skeptically. She turns towards Forest and eyes him up and down then bows her head, "nice to meet you young man."

Forest looked at Dragonia in awe. He stepped back, almost as if in fright, when she bowed her head. Ambrose saw this and laughed.

"Don't be scared of Drago, she's harmless, she is just saying hello."

"Harmless?" Dragonia hissed at Ambrose in mindtalk. "I can show you harmless!"

"Oh calm down you big baby," Ambrose laughed.

"Hmph," Dragonia snorted, "though, you know, when I was locked in the dungeon, I could hear people speaking through the small window, I do remember hearing some townsfolk talk about special books in the library just outside the castle walls."

Ambrose looked at Dragonia in disbelief, "there is no way we are going back to town and sneak into a library for a chance that these books will be there. What if you are seen, what if my father sees us?"

"WE don't have to go, just him," she points her snout toward Forest who is still watching in disbelief. "We could take him to the edge of the wood and explain to him how to get there from there."

"That could work," Ambrose replied thinking it over in his head. "We would have to go back to the cave and get some clothes first. He would never be able to sneak through in those clothes, they would capture him on sight."

Ambrose turned to Forest as they made their decision, "time for you to go on your own adventure."
