4 PROTECTING ALEXIS.

In the backstage of the school performing studio...

"Heard your big brother is in town," a voice said to Scarlet from behind her. The voice stopped her in her tracks. She slowly turned around and when she saw it was just Davis, she turned back to continue what she was doing. Scarlet was kneeling down, fixing up the stand-up stage for the seniors to perform on during their graduation in 3weeks. Davis was an on and off volunteer, as he was a senior he needed to collect as much merit points as he could before graduating.

Davis smirked and arched his brows, he was being ignored, again. What has he ever done to this girl to deserve this girl's cold shoulder? He pondered. But his thick-skinned got the hold of him, as he moves over and stopped directly in front of Scarlet. When she lifted her head, he was just inches close. It took her off guard, which made her close to losing her standing. "Jerk" she scoffed then turned to leave since he was here, he can continue on where she left off. But she suddenly turned her head and said to Davis. "Even if Donald Trump came to town, its none of your business, faggot" she hated him. Since when did Davis had the guts to stand up to her. He always only stayed in his corner during gatherings of all sorts.

But what caught her by surprised most... was that he suddenly ran after her and grabbed on to her arm stopping her in her track. His voice was his usual, but it was strong and held a hint of warning "If it's concerned with my girl, then it's my business." 'My girl' the word rang in her head, she didn't know if she was furious that he referring to Alexis as his girl or just jealous that he could say that out loud. She felt herself burning inside, as she tilted her head, looked him in his eyes and said "I don't need you to tell me what to do. I will protect Alexis in my own way, and nobody is going to lay a finger on her. Not even you." Then she flung her hand lose of his grip and walk away as quickly as her little legs could bring her.

Davis watched as she left, he was amused with her. She was such a strong and dominant girl, showing hints of great potential. What a waste that she didn't put in the same effort as Alexis did to achieve better results. Alexis told him before, that Scarlet never needed to study to pass her grades. If she had put in a little bit of effort, she would surely surpass Alexis. Getting into NUS was already proof. He wondered what Scarlet's goals in life were, she was like an unsolvable puzzle piece to him, which frustrated him.

...

Scarlet walked for so long that she ended up walking all the way home. She kept thinking about her previous encounter with Davis. 'His girl' and the way he talked of Scott. A lot of questions came into Scarlet's mind. Did Alexis actually complain to Davis about Scott? How else would he have known, if not from Alexis, right? Although they had an unpleasant history, Alexis had once said she had forgiven him although she will never forget what he did.

Scarlet woke up to the sounds of squeals and giggles from the living room. She didn't even know she had fallen asleep, she went to take a peak from the door that was left ajar, to find Alexis and Davis on the sofa snuggling. Davis had tickled her, resulting to the giggles Scarlet had heard. It appears that they were reading from a novel together, one had to admit they looked perfectly cute together. Alexis looked really happy, and it hurt Scarlet deeply where it should.
