24 Like a schoolgirl in front of her crush

Mr. Bambang Wang was no ordinary human being, anyone could tell you that. The raven haired, onyx eyed man was like a superhero – a business savant and a very powerful billionaire. He'd brought this tech company up from absolutely nothing through his own blood, sweat, and tears. Now, his company was one of the most lucrative in the entire country, and Mr. Wang was one of the wealthiest men in the country. No one had seen that coming, not even Mr. Wang himself.

His hardened eyes scrutinized my own as he swiped the papers from my hand, his fingers just barely brushing over the back of my hand though it was enough to make me squeak under my breath. I could feel the warmth of his body rolling off of him, warming me to the core as I continued to gaze at him, gawking like a schoolgirl in front of her crush. Then again, everyone had a crush on Mr. Wang. Even the men did. Although in his 40s, he had the looks to die for.

He was flawless in every way. Not to mention that he was indescribably wealthy. Trust me, I'd walked past his personal break room before. There was a fancy espresso machine, and I shit you not, a golden toilet. Pun intended. Or at least, I think there was. The lights were off. But, seriously. He is that freakin' rich.

"Ms. Chunhua?" He frowned, and my name on his lips made my heart drop like a rock through my stomach, almost destroying the ground at my feet.

Did he really know my name? But I was so new, and only a receptionist at that, how was it possible that he would know me?

"Yes, sir?" I whispered, blinking my eyes furiously. I could hardly believe that he was really addressing me right now. My heart drummed so loudly against my ribs, I had to struggle to hear him.

"These aren't accounting statements. This is our bathroom maintentce log." He continued to stare at me, black eyes questioning whether I had the mental capacity to actually work at his booming business, and I found myself so lost in the steely glint of his dusky gaze that I couldn't even respond. There were speckles of grey in his eyes, like silver snowflakes against an endless night sky.

"Ms. Chunhua?" He repeated, glancing towards Liv with a furrowed brow, "Chunhua?" I couldn't stop the moan from parting my lips when he spoke my name.

The word flowed like water from a spout. A deliciously sexy spout. Mmm. With a clear of his throat, he slapped the papers back on my desk and whirled on his foot, "The client needs those accounting papers." He snarled, the bitterness of his tone shooting me back to the present as my eyes went huge in embarrassment.

What had just happened? I'd really messed this up, I could see it in the tense hunch of his broad, muscled shoulders. Somehow, I managed to convince my fingers to ball up in fists at my side instead of reaching out to massage the tension from his burly body. I could see his toned body straining against the fine fabric of his dark suit. Damn, he truly is the perfect specimen of a mature male beauty. And I'd gone and pissed him off. Way to go Chunhua. Great job, as usual.

"I think I might have them!" The intern finally pipes up, all silent eyes shooting towards her.

Without a single word, Mr. Wang walks powerfully away from me, my heart pitifully whining for his return. Grabbing the intern's papers and giving a stiff nod, Mr. Wang whirls on his heel and hurries back into the room he'd only just departed.

Slowly, I sink back down into my chair, ankles crossing as I try and turn into an amorphous blob in my seat. I wanted to vanish or melt into my chair.

I could see my colleague from accounting chuckling behind his hand and gesturing towards me. Instinctually, I flip him the bird and stick out my tongue while he gasps at me in shock. Great. I'd gotten the grand opportunity to be the laughing stock of the entire company now. There was no coming back from this. Ugh.

Just when I thought nothing could get worse, the familiar click of furious heels echoed towards me. Instead of looking up, I daintily folded my hands in front of me and kept my eyes lowered like I'd learned to do in high school when the principal was around. Who knows, she could be like Medusa and turn me to stone on the spot if I dare look up at her.

"Chunhua." Olivia said with surprising gentleness, drumming her pink painted nails on my desk and clearing her throat. Afraid to look up into her disproving eyes, I bit my lip and inspect the chips in her salmon polish instead. I should give her the name of the girl that I'd gone to before, when I still had the luxury of spending money.

"He wants to see you."

"…Who?" I ask quietly, lips skewing to the side of my face.

We both know I know precisely who has called me to his side. We both know who just made herself the office fool and would need to be dealt with.

"Mr. Wang. He requests your presence in the conference room."

"The conference room?" I question quickly with a little startled jump, "But he's in the middle of that huge negotiation?"

Liv only shrugs, her eyes sympathetic. She knows how badly I need this job, she knows what's on the line if I get fired.

"Tell me what to do." I plead under my breath, "Tell me how to make him change his mind."

The woman only shakes her head, gesturing me towards the door of the room.

"He's waiting." She murmured, giving my shoulder a comforting squeeze and my back a little prod towards the door, "And he doesn't appreciate waiting."
