1 A strange light

In a majestic palace on a mountain top shrouded by clouds, a servant was in a hurry to bring a bassin of hot water to her mistress' chamber.

In that chamber, a beautiful girl, wearing a green dress was holding hands with her mother.

Under the drenched sheets, a woman was slowly giving birth, suffering. The servants were doing their utmost to alleviate her pain.

Bitting her soft lips, her pace face grimacing, her green, slightly blue eyes suddenly opened and as tears rolled down her face, a cry broke the silence.

In another room of the palace, a man with imposing manners was quietly awaiting news of his wife while dealing with the problems of his clan.

The door suddenly opened under the hurried run of a little girl dressed in green. She hurried over to her father's arms, a big smile on her rosy lips.

"Yun 'er."

"Father, little brother is born ! He is crying so much that the servants passed out." She said mischievously, her grin breaking into giggles.

A smile appeared on the man's face as he took her in his arms and vanished on the spot.

He soon reappeared in his wife's chamber, and letting that little girl of his on the ground, he rushed toward his wife, checking her condition before sighing in relief.

He then turned his glance towards the source of the noise. Out of the blue, a bright smile covered his face. He slowly neared the crying baby and took it in his arms, relieving the servant who was nearly deafened by the energetic cries of the baby.

When the little boy landed in his father's arms, he suddenly stopped crying. He curiously watched the face of the man, feeling somewhat tied to him, not knowing this man was his father.

As he ceased to cry, his father was pleasantly surprised a smile blossoming on the baby's face. While smiling, he sent his spiritual force to probe his son's body. Fortunately, other than being slightly surprised by the somewhat larger than expected qi paths, nothing bad was found.

Slowly retrieving his spiritual strength, he suddenly saw a pearl of light moving in the eyes of his son. But that strange light disappeared right after, and the man was too focused on the light to feel that a little bit of his spiritual force mysteriously disappeared.

His gaze withdrawing from his son's pupils, he said in a soft voice :

"Yun Yang, you'll become a great man."

Two years later.

A little boy was running, his face full of smiles. He fled, his small steps drawing him near an old door. As he pushed open the door, his body disappeared inside as the door was shut.

An exasperated voice sounded out in the courtyard some tens of meters away "Crap ! He fled once again ! That dalned little angel !"

With the same happy smile on his cute face, he neared the back of the room and then snuck in the clan's library by an hidden passageway. As he raised his little head, the bright and gigantic room was reflected in his little eyes. He had once again snuck inside this mysterious and wonderful place. As he breathed in, the sent of the old books assailed him. He slowly began to walk, strolling around between the old bookshelves.

After a while, his gaze was attracted by golden thread of air. As he neared it, he moved his little head and watched it attentively. He suddenly turned his head and saw an old wood tablet, with nine golden characters written on it. "Golden leaf hiding the sun."

(掩藏太阳的金黄叶子)

As he watched the beautiful words written down, his finger passed along the lines, slowly drawing the words carved in the tablet. A great headache suddenly struck the little Yun Yang.

In a secluded courtyard, an old man slowly opened his clear eyes. When his eyelids totally opened, a bright light penetrated the surroundings, forcefully scattering the qi contained in the air. He broke through some days ago but only decided to end his meditation now, after having stabilized his foundation.

Lifting his head up, he stared at the clear sky. He slowly extended out his spiritual strength and scanned the palace, searching for his son. As his mind encompassed the clan's library, he was shocked to find a little boy of two year old, holding a beautifully carved wood tablet in his hands. He decided to go and take the little boy out of the room.

Slowly an after image vanished from where he was.

As the little boy started trembling from the huge force invading his brain, a muffled sound escaped from his mouth. He bit his white, child's teeth, not willing to cry. However, as the pain in his mind increased, he passed out.

As he fell on the ground, an old man caught him up and then put the tablet back on the bookshelf, mumbling. "What is this little boy doing in the last section of the library..? And why does he seem so familiar..."

He brought the little boy away with him, sitting on the ground of his courtyard before waiting for him to wake up.

Yun Yang slowly rubbed his eyes as he woke up next to the old man. He turned his head right and left, before studying the old man's face. He then mumbled in a childish language, feeling quite a big ressemblance between his father's and this old man's faces.

The old man watched Yun Yang as the later woke up. He then picked him up and moved toward the main room of the palace.

That's how Yun Yang met his grandfather, Yun Cheng.
