2 Chapter 2
Barely a minute passed since I got the quest when monsters flooded the slums in an instant, devouring all they could reach. There were a few people with abilities who came here from the inner city, but they can't hold off over a hundred monsters with just a dozen of them.
As I was looking for a good place to hide, I was targeted by something that looks like a goblin, as expected of a world attacked by fantasy, and I use observe on it, to see how strong it is.

It is level 7, but it also has no mana and less health than me, so I might be able to defeat it. I wasn't given much time to think about it as it rushes towards me with it's fists, not even having a weapon, making this much easier for me to deal with.
Once it is in range, I thrust my fist out with full power, smashing it directly into the goblins chest, sending it flying back 5 meters with a dent in it's chest. I was heavily surprised at this as I didn't expect to be able to do something like that, but forgot about the 10 points I put into my strength.
Without giving it the chance to get back up, I rush up to it and kick it directly in the neck, creating a gory crack sound as the goblin stopped moving, completely dead with two attacks from me.

Right, I nearly forgot that I could earn experience from killing things since I am literally a living game character right now. Shaking my head, I turn around to leave the area before more monsters attack me, but before I could go far, a shadow appeared before my eyes and the next second I was sent flying through a wall.
Spitting out blood and feeling as if my body was completely broken, I saw a notification informing me that I lost 200 health, leaving me with only 150. Shakily looking towards what hit me, a leopard like monster slowly walked through the wall I was hit through, walking towards me calmly since it thinks I am most likely dead.
Taking advantage of that, I silently wait for the monster to get in front of me and smash my fist directly on the forehead of it, blasting it back a few feet with blood dripping from the monsters forehead. As I struggle to stand up, the monster claws at my head, but I barely dodge backwards, it's claws only slashing across my left eye, but since I can't feel pain right now, I don't notice it yet.
The monster jumps towards me again, but I fall to the ground of exhaustion, and the monster crashes into a wall, causing it to crumble down on top of it, large pieces of debris smashing into it's head and neck constantly, giving it no chance to live.
Laughing slightly at what happened to it, I barely notice a few notifications appear after it died before I black out from all of my wounds.

Yuu - "Ugh..."
I weakly open my eyes, or my right eye as something is blocking my left eye for some reason. Apparently I am still alive, which is good for me, I guess. I notice that I am in some type of hospital judging by the machines attached to me and the pure white room, but I ignore that for now and look at the notifications I got before I fainted.

Huh? Waitwaitwaitwait, I actually lost my left eye? It's not just covered by something? Fuck! Now that I think about it, when I barely dodged it's attack and keeping my head, I do remember it's claws going across my eye, but I couldn't even feel pain then so I didn't notice. Shit.

Damn, I can't believe I lost my left eye already on the first day, but it isn't all that bad since I managed to live at least, and I will most likely be able to buy something that can give me my left eye back in the future from the shop, so I don't mind that much, but it will be annoying only seeing out of one eye.
As I was thinking to myself, someone opened the door to my hospital room, if that is what this really is, and came inside. Looking over, I see someone who looks like he is a soldier or something, considering the badge and military like clothes.
??? - "So you are awake? That is good, it seems you have a powerful regenerative system in your body then. I'm known as Rawl, currently a General in the Blue-Steel Army. We found you buried in a house with a dead E-Class Monster, heavily injured and rushed you here. Why would someone capable of killing an E-Class Monster alone be living in the slums?"
Shit, he really is from the military. The hell is an e-class monster, though? Forget it, I will find out later. I need to think of what to say to this guy. I can't really just out and say 'Oh! I was just brought to this world today and appeared in the slums!' now can I?
Yuu - "Well, I just got my ability today right before the monster attack, so I still lived in the slums."
Rawl - "Is that so... Fine then, what kind of ability did you get? A new ability user actually managed to solo kill an E-Class Monster."
Hm, what should I say? Well, I might as well say some truth since I don't really want to be enemies with this guy, but let's observe him first.
Yuu - 'Observe.'

Rawl - "Well, while I don't really believe that, it seems you are not lying according to one of my abilities. So be it. I will enroll you in the Blue-Steel Army since you are now an ability user, and it will help us defend this place, and help you get stronger."
Shit, good thing I didn't really lie. This guy seriously has an ability that can tell lies from truth? Talk about scary, no wonder he is a general in this army. Well, enrolling in this army will indeed help me like he said, and the chance of death is actually lower than if I lived in the city, since I will be with other soldiers instead of alone.
Yuu - "That's fine."
Rawl just nodded his head in satisfaction and fished something out of his pocket and throwing it at me. As I catch it and look at it, I see a small badge with a BSA-E written on it, making me look at Rawl in confusion, hoping for an answer that I get.
Rawl - "That is a badge for the Blue-Steel Army. The BSA-E stand for Blue-Steel Army: E Rank, making you the second lowest rank in the army, so work hard if you want to get a higher rank! I will send someone to guide you towards the army camp later, so rest for now!"
Saying that, Rawl just leaves the hospital room and heads to wherever he is going, leaving me alone to look at the new badge of mine, before I just throw it into my inventory for now since I have no use for it. Speaking of inventory, I completely forgot about my random skill book! I quickly fish it out and use it.

Damn~ There goes my dream of using a sword, but I guess it is fine, since I would of chose a spear if I couldn't get a sword anyways. Hm, let's check my status for now.

Hm, it's not that bad. Actually, it is pretty darn good. Increase all damage dealt by spears by 5% at level 1? Damn, if it was level 100, would I increase all damage with spears by 10000% or something? Shaking my head, I stand up off the hospital bed and look in the mirror that is near me.
I was a bit surprised when I looked in the mirror, as my body is quite different from before. My skin used to be pale white, not really sickly but quite close to that, my hair was orange and my eyes were blue, but now my eyes, or eye, is purple, and my hair is black, while my skin is a slightly tanned color. Not to mention I am more handsome now? Is it because of my charm stat or something? Well, I like this look more than my other one anyways, since I was quite bad looking with my pale skin before.
Looking in the mirror, I heave a sigh at the two claw scars over my left eye, which seems to be completely gone, and then I see the few claw scars on my chest as well, most likely from the first attack from that monster.
Someone suddenly comes into the room when I was looking in the mirror and touching my now gone left eye area, and he lets out a quiet sigh making me turn towards him, he most likely being the guy who will take me to the army camp.
??? - "Hello, Taka Yuu. My name is Braham, and I will guide you to where the army camp is. General Rawl is already there with a few other new recruits, so let's hurry on please. Right, change into these, they will be your new clothes while in the army. Make sure to put your badge on the left side of the clothing."
So he says while handing me a military outfit just like the one he and Rawl were wearing. I quickly change into it, discarding my white hospital clothes, and stick the BSA-E badge onto the left side of the shirt, just above my heart.
Braham nods to me and I follow him out of the room, leaving the hospital, and getting into a military jeep with him as he drives towards the army camp. I make sure to note the surroundings so I can remember the way to the army camp, just in case I need to get there myself.
The drive is only 5 or 10 minutes long, the army camp being quite close to the hospital, which actually makes some sense. Braham then leads me towards a quite big building and then leaves me to walk ahead myself.
Walking ahead, I eventually reach a room and knock on the door, where someone opens the door, surprisingly being Rawl. He just nods at me and points me further into the room with his chin, and I head towards the 3 other people in the room, all of them having clothes like mine with a BSA-E badge on.
A few more minutes pass by in silence when someone suddenly runs over and stumbles through the door, him probably being the last person we are waiting for, considering he is wearing clothes exactly like us, once again with a BSA-E badge on.
Rawl - "Now that you are all here, I will now explain you the basics you would need to know. Since you were all just normal people until today, you probably don't know the tiers and everything for monsters and soldiers, so I will explain that now. The tiers for all monsters go from F-SSS Rank, similar to that, so do the soldier ranks. You are all currently at E-Rank soldiers, merely because you all managed to kill an E-Rank Monster before you were brought here, bumping your rank up by 1. Any questions?"
??? - "Sir, my name is Leon. I have a question, since it is like that, then can we know what your rank is?"
Rawl - "Fine. My rank is currently A-Rank Soldier. I might as well say this now, but only the Supreme Commander of the Blue-Steel Army is an SSS-Rank Soldier. The same goes for any Supreme Commander of any army. For your information, I had to kill 15 A-Rank Monsters to get this rank."
The hell? He killed 15 A-Rank Monsters just to get an A-Rank Soldier rank, huh. Well, it makes sense considering how strong he is. Wait, I hope he will give us weapons, since my new skill is useless without a spear...
??? - "Hello Sir, my name is Ren. Will we be given a weapon sometime soon? I would like it if I can find weapon that suits me..."
Rawl - "Good question. Yes, I will be giving you all weapons, which you will be allowed to choose from many common weapons after the questions are done. Any more questions?"
Nobody else asks any questions, which I am thankful for since I wish to see if there is a spear I can pick, making use of my new skill.
Rawl - "Good. Now follow me to the Weapon Room."
We all follow Rawl out of the room, and walk down the hall for a minute before we reach a new room, where Rawl opens the door and enters, us following behind him. Looking inside the room, there are all types of weapons.
Swords, Sabers, Spears, Axes, Hammers, Halberds, Whips, Bows, Daggers, Guns, Warfans and so on. I let out a quiet sigh of relief at the notice of multiple spears, thankful that I can actually get myself a proper weapon that suits me.
Rawl - "Go pick out your weapons now."
Not wasting any time, I walk over towards the spears, there being only 3 spears. I was about to just choose one randomly when I remembered my observe skill, which lets me observe anything, which would include the spears, so I use it on all 3 of them.

I don't even hesitate to choose the Uncommon Blue-Steel Army Spear, since even if weighs a lot, I will be able to use it no problem. Even if I can't use it now, I just need to increase my strength stat and I can use it just fine.
Rawl was going to say something to me, but seeing me pick up the spear and swing it around easily, he closed his mouth with a slight smile on his face, one that shows interest. I didn't notice though since I was engrossed in my newly obtained spear. The weight was just perfect for my current strength, and even if it increased by 10 or 20 points this spear will still be good.
I was unsurprisingly the final person to pick my weapon, and I look at what weapons the other 4 chose. Leon chose a sword, which I somewhat expected for some reason. Ren chose two pistols, another one named Kral chose a saber and the last one named Yang chose a halberd.
Rawl - "Since you all have your weapons now, it is about time you train with them. Follow me to the training grounds."
Rawl leads us out of the building and further behind it, there being a good 70 or 80 people currently on the training grounds behind it. He leads us all to empty targets and sets us up our own targets for each weapon. I didn't mind and just started to practice my spear attacks on the dummy in front of me, aiming to control my power in each attack and like that a week passed by with us training.
