12 The Search ~ part 01 ~

*TREEEENGG*

The school bell rang as Danny rushed in through the gates. Today he was late. The alarm didn't wake him. Some kids who always came late to school were running up the stairs.

Danny wasn't much of a late comer but today, even the alarm didn't wake him up. "It might have been the healing process yesterday. It was quite painful." reasoned Danny as he ran into the hallway.

He rushed into the class, opening the door. All the kids were sitting in their seats. But the teacher wasn't. It was Danny's lucky day.

Mr. Ryan wasn't in the class yet. Danny quickly ran to his seat and sat down. Conor and Hannah were sitting next to Danny. They looked at him.

They couldn't ask him anything yet, since they had some secrets to keep from the ears of the class mates. Danny was always thinking about Linda's death. But there was no possible way to change her fate.

But like any human would, while he slept, the pain dried off. A human mind changes, day by day. Danny's mind was nothing special, the same happened to him.

But the hunger for revenge never dried off. There was no possible way he could forget that werewolf, when it's still out there looking for its next prey.

Conor agreed with Danny because, if they manage to kill an elite rank, they could level up easily. The main target of the pact was levelling up. Not their personal feelings. But from the way they managed to hold off the werewolf, Conor thought that they could actually defeat it.

Mr. Ryan came in about 2 or 3 minutes later and started the lesson. They continued with the lesson until 10 a.m. and the bell rang for lunch.

All the kids got up and went to the cafeteria to get their lunch. Most of the kids were sitting enjoying some sandwiches, pastas or noodles.

Conor and Hannah caught up with Danny in the hallway. "Let's have a little talk in the cafeteria," said Conor as they placed their books on their lockers.

All three of them brought their homemade food to school so they didn't eat anything from the cafeteria. The cafeteria was filled with thousands of kids. It was one of the biggest places in the school.

Danny, Conor and Hannah went on and on searching for a place to sit. Then they finally found an empty table to sit in the corner.

"It's only a matter of time for the whole city to find out about Linda's death. We shouldn't open our mouths until everyone knows, or they'll suspect us." murmured Conor, making sure that no-one hears them.

Danny looked at Conor. "Yes," he agreed surprisingly. "I agree too.." murmured Hannah. There weren't many teens around them. But they couldn't trust anyone there.

"And, about tracking the werewolf down.." said Conor. Danny quickly turned to Conor. "About?"

"I have found a spell to track that guy down. But it is risky! There might be a whole pack at the end of this chase, cause werewolves don't travel alone." continued Conor, taking a bite out of his peanut butter sandwich.

"Doesn't matter! I'm killing that punk, or I'll die fighting!" said Danny, outraged. Some people sitting around him turned back and looked at him.

"What's wrong with this weirdo.."

Some whispers came and went from the students. Hannah, who was sitting next to Danny, held his hand tightly and Danny calmed down.

"Calm down, I know how you feel.. we'll surely pay the people responsible for this.." whispered Hannah, coming a little closer to Danny.

Danny slowly took a deep breath and became patient. "Yes.. it hurts when someone close to you has to leave you.. well in this game, you and I are just the pawns.. one wrong move your out.." uttered Conor.

"And guys.. do not forget to complete your survival quests.. Otherwise we die for nothing.." reminded Hannah who hasn't completed her own quest yet.

"Before 4pm come to my house. We need to hurry. At sundown the mana of the werewolves increase." explained Conor finishing his sandwich.

Danny was also finished with his cup of noodles. Hannah finished her chicken roll and the packet of milk. "Well let's talk again back at our headquarters.." said Danny giving out a little smile.

It had been a while since Danny had a smile on his face. The guy was always smiling before he achieved the system. It was truly a curse.

After the interval ended, Danny went back and they had their evening periods.

Time passed by and school ended. Danny hurried home and got a wash. His aunt wasn't home, neither was Clara. Clara was having her evening practice and his aunt was out messing around with his old crook of a boyfriend.

Danny got ready to take off once again. He looked at his stats to check the available missions.

< Quests >

[ Survival quest : Take 3 lives {0/3} 9 hours remaining

< Daily Quests >

[ Fully use your Mana : 100 XP ]

[ Kill 2 players : 5000 XP ]

All of them were unfinished. And the survival quest was running out of time. He had no idea how to take 3 lives in 1 day. But if he found that pack and killed some of them, he may have a chance to see the sunrise again.

Danny took off from his house, his hair raised up by applying gel. Danny  was wearing one of his usual black leather jackets, with some denim jeans.

Hannah was waiting for him in front of his lawn. Both of them started to walk up the street.

"So you ready for this?" asked Hannah looking at Danny. Danny looked like he was worried. "What are you worried about?"

"Nothing Hannah.. You're a good friend, you know that.." said Danny kindly. Then they reached the turn to the upper Parker's Lane. Surprisingly, Conor was standing there near the turn.

He waved at them. Both of them hurried to Conor.

"Is there a problem?" asked Hannah. "Yes.. there is. I just got a message saying that the police had caution taped up the forest area." explained Conor showing them a message on his phone from "The Daily Mandorin", newsletter.

"Well shit! Now what??" asked Danny from Conor. Conor smirked.

"Well no worries.. Conor never runs out of ideas.." crowed Conor. "Huff" Hannah rolled her eyes.

"Hehe.. we're going from the back of the forest.. I think the man headed to the south.. I remember someone saying something about a huge abandoned wooden house to the south of the woods. And there's the main road leading outside of the town to Lumborne city." elaborated Conor to the team.

"That's a good idea.. but how do we know where the werewolf went? Footprints?" asked Hannah confused. "I have a spiritual vision. We can use that to track the werewolf down."

All of them agreed to his plan. Conor was the mastermind of the team. Conor and the team stood there until a taxi came. Then all of them got in.

"Main road to Lumborne city!" said Conor to the driver. Then the driver started to drive.

Many taxis always roamed the neighborhood, since most of the teens in Parker's Lane took a taxi to Calliberone.

About 30 minutes later, the taxi dropped them off in the middle of the main road to Lumborne city. Conor paid the taxi and sent it away.

Danny felt a little puny, because Conor kept paying them each time. Hannah just stood back and let the boy's handle the work.

"Well time to search.. get ready guys.. we might meet one or two ghouls or, one or two players even." warned Conor to the team. Conor summoned his staff and he was battle ready.

Danny summoned his spirit sword, as Hannah turned to her vampire mode. Her nails grew longer and turned black, each time she switched to the vampire.

Conor gripped the staff with both his hands and held it up. Conor took a deep breath. As he opened his eyes, they lit up with a yellow light.

Conor's vision was suddenly dark. All the trees and the surroundings were pure black, but each of the elements had a smoke going out in different colours.

He looked at Danny and Hannah. Danny was only a figure made out of orange smoke. Hannah who was standing beside Danny was a figure made out of red smoke. And each of them had a core where their heart was.

It was truly magical. This wasn't the first time Conor experienced this magic. He had used it before in his own room, to test run it.

Then he thought about the werewolf. He imagined his face. Suddenly another spiritual gaseous yellow figure, who was not much clear as Danny or Hannah ran through the roads, into the forest. This figure didn't have any core.

"I think I found it!!" yelled Conor to the team. "Where! Go ahead!! We'll follow you!" Danny said as he looked around for anything suspicious.

"Okay! Follow me!"

Conor followed the spiritual yellow figure as Danny and Hannah followed Conor into the dark woods.
