34 Sleepless Walks

Suddenly, it started to rain. 

It was 3am. It was the start of the weekend. Saber usually goes home to take his wife out to Dinner at the Saturday nights. 

But today, he was still in his office trying to figure out the case. 

Tony had sent him some places that had been suspected for abnormal behaviours. 

There was "Barney's Iron Works", which was suspected the least, for the increase of customers after the series of murders. 

"Sleepless walks", the park was suspected for the second, for some screams, abnormal sounds and abnormal eyewitnesses like ghosts. And two people had been killed there.

"Dojo Cafe" was the one which was suspected the most. 10 murder cases had been reported there. The place got closed even. The police had decided to caution taped the cafe.

All three of these places were the places which were only in Calliberone. And a lot more places were suspected. 

But, Saber decided to investigate these places on his own, with his old friends. 

Saber got his cigarette and took a puff. His eyes were already getting eye clouds. And the major problem was that his wife was pregnant with his daughter. 

But even though his personal life was important, he had to investigate in this case because these set of murders were closing up to a genocide.

Suddenly, his phone rang. 

Saber quickly reached for his phone in his pocket and answered it. 

"Hello?" 

It was Barney on the phone.

"Barney! Are you guys coming?" 

"Yes, Jason and I are on our way! Tony said that he'd be there in about 10 minutes!" answered Barney.

Barney quickly looked at the visuals from the security cameras displayed in his Mac. 

"Ok! I'll be waiting!" said Saber and hung up.

It was a risk for Saber to get involved with these criminals to solve a case, but there was no other choice. 

These criminals were the smartest men he could find. 

Saber sat on his chair and waited for the three to arrive. 

After about 3 minutes, a large black SUV pulled in through the gates of the station. Saber was looking at the security visuals carefully.

Saber had asked the guard to let the strangers in. So the guard took the SUV in. 

Then, another grey SUV entered through the gates. After all 3 of them parked in the car park, the 3 stepped into the building.

Saber waited for their arrival.

Then, all three of them entered Saber's office. 

"At last! From the things you found, the best place to investigate today is Sleepless Walks!" said Saber, who was sitting in his chair. 

The crazy wall has lost its limits. It was overflowed with pictures from the murder cases.

Saber took one more puff from his cigarette. Then, Tony, Jason and Barney sat down on the chairs in front of Saber's desk.

"Sleepless Walks? That's what I said!" jabbered Barney. 

"Good then! I vote for Sleepless Walks too!" declared Tony and turned on the tablet in his hands. 

It was 3 out of four votes already, so they have already decided to investigate Sleepless Walks. 

Tony suddenly turned his tablet and showed them the screen. "This one! I just found it!" said Tony and played the video. 

There was a young man walking along the streets. It was nightfall in the video. The young man was wearing a purple leather jacket and he had a purple haircut. 

The video looked like it was a scene caught on a security camera. 

He was searching for something in the park. Suddenly, another man rushed towards the guy and knocked him on his shoulder. 

The man with the purple hair went flying into the pole which had the security camera fixed to it.

The power was inhuman. As soon as the guy smashed into the wall, the security cameras turned off. 

"Holy shit! That's just impossible! That much strength!" 

Jason jabbered looking glaring at the video. 

"That's not the best part!" said Tony and took the video some seconds back. It was the exact second that the man with purple hair smashed into the pole.

Then, Tony zoomed into the hands of the man. The hands of the man were empty, there was nothing there. 

Suddenly, he fast forward for 2 seconds more. Suddenly, there was a short sword in one of his hands. 

"But! That's impossible! There was nothing there!" jabbered Jason. 

"Well... That's the surprise! That's the hidden truth!" said Tony. 

Saber was speechless. The case was getting more and more confusing by the minute. Saber never believed in any myths. He never really liked them either.

But this case was changing everything. 

"This will be a good clue! But after the cameras were dead, how were you able to get this video?" asked Saber who was getting suspicious. 

"Don't you know me?" asked Tony with a witty grin on his face. 

Saber knew exactly what he was saying. He was a hitman and he had his eyes all around the town. 

Saber had no clue about the scene. Still, he refused to believe in magic. He couldn't, if he hadn't seen it with his own eyes. 

The other 3 looked at Saber's eyes. Those eyes told them that he still refused. 

"Okay Saber! Let's go!" said Jason, getting up from his chair.

All 4 of them had decided to go investigate the places on their own. So today's mission was a field mission. 

Saber pulled out the lowest drawer under his desk. There was a gun on the top of the case files there. He pulled out the gun and closed the drawer.

It was raining heavily outside. The rainy months were starting so they did expect heavy rainfall. 

Tony was driving the car and Saber was beside him. The two of them were going in Tony's car and Jason and Barney were riding in front of them. 

Saber looked at the time. It was 3.30am. "Shit!"

Saber was almost falling asleep on his seat. 

"Come on Saber! Stay awake! You're not a kid!" Tony yelled at Saber and shook him out of his sleep. 

"Ok ok...." moaned Claus. 

They were riding through the streets of Calliberone. The wipers wiped up the windshield as the rain got heavier and heavier. 

Tony slowed down quite a bit.

~ Sleepless Walks ~

After about 30 minutes, the detectives were there. 

The two cars were parked at the car park beside the Sleepless Walks. All of them wore their raincoats to escape the heavy rainfall. 

Then, Saber opened the door and stepped outside the car. 

Suddenly, Tony went to the back of the car and opened the trunk. Then he got something that was covered in a thick roll of cloth. 

He rolled it out and it was a huge shotgun. 

"Just in case!" said Tony, turning to Saber, who was looking at him, shockingly. 

Then Tony closed the trunk and went on. 

Barney and Jason then joined the two of them and went to enter the park. The rain was getting heavier by the moment. 

It was very cold. And on top of it, it was 3:30 in the morning!

They were right in front of the gates of the park. The metal gates had a big sign saying "Welcome to Sleepless Walks".

All 4 of them walked into the park.

The park took a widely spread area from the town. It was one of the most relaxing places. Some even said that it should be world heritage. 

The place was the ruins of a national park, which was built far back in time. 

But it was first discovered by a businessman. Then, he turned the ruins of the park into a thing called "The Sleepless Walks."

There were many things to enjoy there. It was called Sleepless Walks because it even had people walking there until about 2am in the morning.

But now it was raining and it was past 3am, so there wasn't anyone in sight. 

"What should we do now?" asked Jason from Saber. Jason had a grumpy voice. He was in his mid 30s just like Saber and Tony.

The rain was making it hard for them to hear each other even. 

"Let's just search the place up!" 

Saber yelled as he looked up at the park. The park was gloomily lit up with some of the light poles alongside the park. 

There were even runic statues sunk halfway into the earth. In time they have been destroyed but the beauty still holds strong. 

All 4 of them walked into the park with the large torches in their hands. The 4 of them were good in action just like in the brains. So they were not scared of field missions.

Suddenly, Barney stopped in his tracks. 

[ Barney Quintin unlocked ]

He felt something. He felt the presence of a player at the far end of the park. 

"Hehehe! Finally! Some action!" murmured Barney to himself as he walked along, with the three humans. 

"Let's see if you really have the brains to do this Saber!"
