22 Investigation

[ 10:15 am ]

Danny was waiting for the clock to hit 10.30am. All the students got impatient in the last 15 minutes before lunch time. 

Danny was feeling quite well. His problems slowly faded away. 

*Why does the last 15 minutes always take forever!*

Conor said, rapidly tapping his feet on the ground. He was so hungry. 

Mrs. Laurence was writing down the history notes, while the students paid no attention. 

History was always the most boring period for them. 

*TAP!* *TAP!" *TAP!*

Conor's rapid tapping got louder and louder. Suddenly, Mrs. Lawrence lost her patience. 

"CONOR!!! STOP IT! NEXT TIME DETENTION!!" 

The teacher yelled at Conor. 

Conor was always noted as the guy who gets yelled at. But he never really learned anything from the punishments even. 

*Goddamn notes!! I need to escape this freakish prison!* Hannah cursed as she noted down the words on the board.

Her parents always checked her books each day. So she couldn't miss any of her notes. 

*TEEEEENGGG*

Suddenly the loud speakers gave out an ear bleeding sound. It was the sound that came before each announcement. 

"Students! By now you may know that 6 of the students in our school have been murdered.. Detective Lionheart has entered the school to search about the case.. All of you now gather up at the stadium!"

The principal announced through the loudspeakers. 

"Woah! A case!!" 

The whole classroom filled up with whispers and gossip. The teacher suddenly rushed out of the classroom. 

"Danny.. They are suspecting the teens.." Hannah whispered, leaning towards Danny 

Danny turned to Hannah. 

"Don't worry.. There's nothing to suspect!" said Danny looking at the worried girl. 

Conor was listening to the two. 

"Shut it! What are you whispering about!" Conor suddenly uttered to Danny and Hannah. 

Suddenly he placed his finger in his mouth and gestured to them to keep silent. 

Both Danny and Hannah stopped talking. 

Suddenly, Mrs. Lawrence rushed into the classroom again. 

"Students! Time to go! You guys heard the announcement right! Chop chop!" declared Mrs. Lawrence as she stood near the door. 

All the students got up from their seats. 

"And! Keep your bags and anything that you carry inside the classroom!" 

Mrs. Lawrence suddenly ordered them to leave everything behind. 

Danny or the other two didn't have anything suspicious with them, so they didn't have to worry about anything there.

All the students moved out of the class. In the hallway, there were about 10 or 12 detectives lined up. All of them were in front of their lockers.

*Shit! What the fuck is going on!! Did Danny and Claus leave anything suspicious on the roads?* Conor suspected as he moved along with the students.

All of them went into the stadium. The principal, the teachers and some police officers were standing at the entrance. 

Students were gathering around the stadium, taking a seat where the audience sat. 

Danny, Conor and Hannah took a seat from the back. From the furthest line of chairs, you could see all around the stadium. 

The stadium was the place where they played basketball before. But it was constantly used for meetings and such.

After all the students took a seat, the whole stadium filled up with whispers and gossips of the students.

The librarian and two other people came and placed the large speaker in the middle of the stadium. 

There was a set of stairs placed in the middle of the stadium to raise the ground for the speaker.

Conor leaned towards Danny's seat. Hannah was in the middle of the two boys. 

"Oi Danny! Did you leave anything, something that would give them a clue?" Conor whispered to Danny.

Danny leaned towards Conor.

"Nope.. We didn't!" whispered Danny back to Conor. 

Hannah tried to back up from the two boys. She was feeling very shy. The two boys were leaning against her. 

"ATTENTION!!!"

Suddenly, the principal announced through the mic.

The words echoed throughout the stadium and the whole place went silent. 

"My dear students and teachers, it has been a mournful week for us. 6 of our students left us within this week. Linda Houseman, Jimmy Baron, Andy Woods, Dormand Fremont, Collin Garnet and Soul Winters... All of these students are the ones that sat beside some of you everyday in school or walked beside you, playing beside you.. These precious children have been murdered by a person without a soul, a brutal pyromaniac! Now.. These friends, students, children or cousins have left us, to see the bright lights of the heavens.. We shall show our condolences by dedicating them a moment of silence for their deaths.."

All the students went silent. Everyone closed their eyes and dedicated a moment of silence for the deaths of the students. 

The principal stood back, closed his eyes and stood there in silence for a moment. 

"Thank you! These lives shall rest in peace." said the principal lowering his head. "Now.. Detective Lionheart shall step forth to give a little announcement for you.." 

The principal stepped away from the stairs and walked back to the place where the teachers were standing.

Then the detective came through the stadium and climbed up the stairs to the raised ground. 

*THUMP* *THUMP*

He tapped on the mic to test it out. 

"Good morning dear students.. I am very sorry for taking a little time from your interval.." apologized Saber. 

"All of you must know by now, that 5 of the students in the 10th grade had been murdered. This is a serious murder case.. because we may not know who the next victim is!" declared Saber.

"This week we began the investigation on the case.. So far, only the foot prints of tan animal has seen inside the murder case of the girl.. As for the group of boys.. We have found that the murderer used a melee weapon, sword or such.. The serial killers are hard to find, they were careful enough to leave no tracks behind... So we have no idea who or what this serial killer might be!! For all that we know.. A student amongst you, may even be this killer!" 

The whole place was silent. 

Suddenly, a door opened up from the entrance to the stadium. 

"NOTHING HERE!" 

An officer yelled at detective Lionheart. All the students, the teachers and the police turned to see the officer. 

Saber suddenly looked like he was panicking. 

*What the fuck! If it wasn't a student! The only suspects we have are savage wolves and the underworld* he thought to himself.

Saber didn't know what to believe. It was just like the supernatural movies. The word "werewolf" echoed through his mind. 

But from the cases he had solved, all the experience he had, he had never experienced anything supernatural in the world.

But deep inside his mind, the werewolf was a suspect.

The students were focusing on the detective, focusing on the words that would come out of his mouth in the next few minutes.

Saber looked at the crowd. He quickly made a sentence to blabber to the students.

"Now.. The officers have checked every single one of your bags! It seems like nothing suspicious was found! But... Deep down I know there's a killer... A psychopath... If you guys see any suspicious behaviour of the students in the school... Any suspicious absence... Please let me know through the teachers or the police... Thank you for your time!" 

The detective stepped off the stairs and walked out of the stadium. All the officers followed him as he went.

The principal gave the permission for the students to leave and all the students got up and went straight to the cafeteria.

"What was that? A detective... Suspicious behaviour! We have to keep our heads down..." said Hannah as they passed through the hallway to the cafeteria.

"Yes... We have to tell Claus! Or he already knows this!" 

Danny suggested them. Danny was already having a lot of faith in Claus. 

"Yes... I agree... We have to tell this to Claus!" agreed Conor surprisingly. It was surprising how he agreed to the fact. 

Then all three of them went to get their lunch.

~ Saber Lionheart ~

"Lionheart! What now? Your suspicions were wrong... Are we going to the underworld now?" 

[ Underworld : A special name given to the crime world consisting of Mafia bosses, masterminds, drug dealers etc. ]

An officer asked the startled detective as they exited the school building.

"Suspicions? I'm messed up right now! The autopsy report said that the body had claw marks, along with the fur of a wolf!" answered Saber. 

"So what are you saying?" asked the officer. 

"I'm saying that we need to dig this scene deeper... There's something wrong about this... The beheading... The claw marks... But my suspicions cannot be proved yet... Let's see what happens in the next few days!" explained Saber. 

The detective got in the car and the officer got into the driver's seat. 

"Where to now?" asked the officer.

The detective thought for a bit.

"The coffee shop!" beamed Saber.
