10 The Hunt

I awoke with the sticky sensation of morning dew clinging to my body. The underneath of my arms and lower back was sticky with humid sweat making my clothes cling to me.

I sat up, getting a look around. The sun shone brightly through the tree branches, causing me to squint against its morning glare. I wondered with a tired mind if Oliver was nearby.

After finally gathering enough motivation to stand, I began slowly taking down my hammock, preparing my bag for another hike. I checked to make sure my boots were properly laced before beginning another hunt for my boyfriend.

I wish we did things normal couples did like picnics or fancy dinners or movies on Fridays. In honesty, I was painfully jealous of the cute couples in public or on TV. They had no right being that happy when I can't find anything better than this. Sometimes I forget anything better than this existed.

My skin prickled with suspicion. I looked around, knowing he was there. I saw nothing but trees and limbs, but I could feel him watching me.
