7 7- Riddle Me This

Going over what the man said, I waited for his instructions. I held the radio to my chest, terrified of what was to come. "He's in the master bedroom, quietly run to the couch." I take a deep breath before stepping out of the trunk. I tip toe into the living room, the sight of Sophia's foot caught my attention. Getting on my stomach, I quietly whisper to her. Tears flowed from her face, she was terrified. I walk her to the balcony, showing her where the Ladder was. She nods her head, understanding what to do. "One down, five to go", I say to myself, hiding in the shadows.

"Hurry, he's in the hallway. Go to the master bedroom, you'll find two." Moving away from the end table, my feet take off to the room. I look around the room, but couldn't see anyone. Finally, mom comes out. I started silently speaking, it's a good thing mom was good at lip reading. Grabbing Lilly from the vent, they vanish to the roof.

"Don't be afraid of the dark, he's coming for you." Rolling under the bed, I cover my mouth. My heart was beating fast, his footsteps breaking the silence. "What a great game, you must play this all the time." He chuckles, touching the bed frame with his foot. "Gotcha!" He yells, pulling the curtains. Nobody was there.

"He's left the room, the basement is your best bet." I listen to the voice and run to the basement, closing the door behind me. Grabbing a flashlight from my pocket, I shine around. I could hear whining near the entertainment center, I knew it was Nate. Pulling him out by his feet, he breathes heavily, glad to see it was only me.

"Ni-" I put my finger to my lips, making sure he didn't make another sound. Having him hop on my back, I piggy back him into the kitchen. "He's coming, find somewhere to hide." Pushing Nate into a cabinet, I go hide in the hallway closet. Footsteps come toward the closet, the door opens.

"Nicole?" He says, hugging me. I try to silently tell him the plan, but he refused. "Dane and I are going to take care of Robert, you guys head out." I didn't want to leave dad, but I knew he'd be able to handle him. Nodding my head, Nate and I race for the balcony.

Handing Nate off to mom, I kiss him on the forehead. "I'll be right back, buddy. Stay with mommy." I say, climbing back through the window. Dad and Dane weren't going to be alone, I was also lurking the halls. Sneaking through the kitchen, I quietly grab a knife from the drawer. "Be careful, he's ready to strike at any moment." The man says, worry in his voice.

Although he was worried, I wasn't. I was safe as long as I watched my back, which is why I was against the walls in the living room. Dane spots me from the hallway, he ran toward me. "What are you doing?" Dane asks, baseball bat at his side. "Everyone is safe, I'm just here for support." I giggle, trying to brighten the situation. "Try not to talk too much, he can hear us all." Dane shoots a small smile at me, giving me a fist bump. "Let's go find this bastard once and for all, give him what he deserves."

Dane and I walk side by side, in search for Robert, or dad.

"Robert," we could hear dad from the other room. "What do you think you're doing?" Robert turns around, slicing his tongue with the knife. "I need blood, he needs it." Robert yelled, licking the blood off on his pants. "You don't have to do this, just give me the knife." Dad steps toward him, holding out his hand. "I'm not mad at you, Robert. You will always be part of the family." Dad says, hoping he'd get emotional and give up.

Robert starts to hand the knife to dad, then pulls back, slicing his hand open. Dad yells in pain, holding the wound. "You're no good for me anyways," Robert Said, walking the other way. Dane and I go separate ways, hoping to corner him.

"Robert." Dane yells, Robert turns around, emotionless. "I've been waiting for you." He says, waving his knife at Dane. While he was talking to Robert, I was behind him, waiting for Danes signal. "You thought you could just kill us and get away with it?" He said, shaking his head. "What a dissapointment on your end, you're not killing anybody." Dane kicked Roberts knee, he falls on his palms. "You think I can't? I was just waiting for you to let your guard down." He chuckles, jabbing at his chest.

Dane drops to the ground, bleeding. "Go!" He yells, I come from behind him, clearing my throat.

"Miss me?" I smile, stabbing him in the back. Robert falls to the ground, yelling in anger, and pain. "I need blood, he needs it." I chuckle at him, "now, he'll have your blood." Robert was paralyzed, he was bleeding profusely.

Dad comes from around the corner, he was covered in blood. "Dane!" He yells, bending down. Dane smiles, "it's not that bad, just a stab wound." Dad shakes his head, letting out a soft giggle. Dad and I lift Dane up, we head to the roof.

Waiting on the ambulance, I hold my jacket over Danes wound. "You all survived, congratulations. This demon is no longer in the house, you are safe." The voice said, I smile. "Thank you, sir. If I may ask, who are you?"

"I'm not a sir, but a ma'am. I'm always here for you, Lilac at your service." Our jaws drop, we had no idea. All I knew, was that we were grateful for all she has done for us.
