2 Jessy Paris

Jessy Paris kicked dust into the air as she approached the mansion. The evening air was humid and she felt like going back home to sit under her shower. Being Paris wasn't easy because there were so many bad things associated with her identity, but she loved being Paris nevertheless. Jessy Paris. There were days her stars aligned perfectly and she appreciated those days even though they were mostly brief.

Arriving at the front door of the mansion, she knocked firmly on it until someone answered.

"Yes, who is there?" A heavy masculine voice resonated from inside.

The door opened and a bright, handsome face peered out, an inquiring look on his face.

"I am Jessica Paris." she said, her face expressionless.

"Oh!" The young man opened the door wider. "I know who you are." He said.

"Good. So can I come in?" She asked, and then pushed him aside gently without waiting for his reply, walking into the house uninvited.

The young man turned and stared after her, irritated. "I didn't tell you to come in." He said closing the door. "You shouldn't go into someone's house uninvited."

She turned to face him, a strand of her long hair falling across her left eye. "Oh really?!" She feigned surprise. "Well you weren't going to just let me stand outside, were you? I suppose I wasn't invited all the way here to listen to lectures on moral etiquette." She rolled her eyes.

He was tempted to order her out but he decided to tolerate a bit longer. "Take a seat if you may." He said carelessly. He had little regard for people who knew nothing about respect, or people who knew about respect but were too proud to follow its rules.

She ignored him and instead took time to study the immaculate white walls, and the expensive and huge ceilings of the large sitting room. The interior of this house was so beautiful, it made her feel a sense of utopia. She did a mental comparison between the sitting room and her one room apartment. She smiled and shook her head.

When he observed that she wasn't paying much attention to him, he decided to speak. "I'll be very straightforward with you. The reason why you are here is to investigate the sudden disappearance of my kid brother. So I'd love to know if you are interested or not."

At this, she turned to look at him. "Sooo, why me?"

"Because someone recommended you to me." He said and shrugged, "I've also heard vaguely about you and your skills."

"Hmm." Jessy Paris shook her head as though she had heard that many times before and it was now too boring to hear. "So what do I need to know?"

He continued, "My brother. He is 16 and have been missing for the past two days. The Police have done and are still doing the best they can but still, there is no trace of him anywhere." He Paused, giving time for words to sink in. "I've heard of your wits and investigative talent. And that is why I intend hiring you to help find my brother. I'll pay whatever it takes."

She crossed her arms over her chest and looked at him for a very long time. "What is your name?"

"Max." He replied.
