1 Luck has been Born

The story begins with the predicament that the gods had to face way, way in the past, roughly around 400 BC: The problem that things happen, and they can't control it.

They couldn't assign "control over everything" to any of the existing gods.

They needed someone that will rule over the concept of "everything that happens" as if it was their only reason to exist.

Said concepts wore the name of fate and luck.

Fate was everything that ought to happen to every living being, like birth, death, simple meetings, sleep, or just meals.

Luck being everything that happens around it.

Will you be healthy at birth? Will you die early?

Will you sleep long or short today?

Will you have a big meal or just bread and water this time?

All these fall under the mercy of your luck.

Good or bad luck?

It is also just a decision of your own.

This is what the gods assigned to this one, yet to be created individual.

Some of these gods came to an agreement;

"We will all give part of our being to create someone capable of carrying the responsibility of managing fate and luck."

So gods from North and Greek mythology, Egyptian and Japanese deities, all came together to witness the birth of a new god.

Many different faces came together, and the ritual hall filled up with gods and goddesses alike.

The hall was still filled with silence, no matter how many more came in.

That was until some of them broke the silence.

A tall man stepped forward and began to talk in a voice deep as thunder. He didn't wear anything to cover his upper body and just clean white, baggy pants to cover the bottom half.

He was wearing a long white beard and had equally long and white hair.

He had eyes that were purely white and looked blind and a thoroughly trained body with scars on his arms and back.

"The time has come! The time for us gods to birth a new of god blood, one of the most powerful and influential gods of all generations, they're to be the ruler of fate and the ruler of lu-".

Before the god could even remotely finish his speech, a feminine voice broke through his deep voice from behind them.

"Why don't you just give me this task Zeus?! I can take care of all this luck and fate stuff myself!"

Now the center of attraction wasn't Zeus anymore but instead switched to the source of the shout.

It was a relatively short girl with long black hair bound into twin tails and bangs that covered her right eye and clothes that at first did not resemble a god at all, at least not how they are said to look.

Speaking of the looks, do any of the gods look like how people say they look?

All of them are dressed differently.

Some of the gods wore not more than the bare minimum of clothes to cover themselves, while others wore full wooden to metal armor.

Some gods were dressed in clothes that made them look more human than god.

The girl was a whole different kind though, she wasn't wearing clothes from neither the god's world nor the current time of the human world.

She was wearing clothes that resemble the clothes from the modern more than anything.

It looked modern, yet kind of ancient, the most fitting word to describe it, maybe an older version of gothic lolita?

It was a black and dark purple dress with short sleeves and gloves.

It also had purple and black frills on the sleeves, gloves, neckline, and even a frilly choker.

The girl didn't stop talking about how she can handle luck and fate without help, yet was cut by Zeus.

"Nemesis, you cannot possibly control all of luck and fate yourself.

You already have permission to be the new god's caretaker and take part in managing luck as long as they will practice their abilities.

You have to be pleased with that."

The girl, now with tears in her eyes, started to suddenly yell at Zeus.

"But I don't want to be just part of it!

I want to be in complete control of it!

I've been the god of revenge for so long I want to be a more important god!

Why is the new god just created into one of the most vital roles as soon as someone needs to take it?!"

As she was yelling at Zeus, multiple gods stepped forward as well.

Suddenly, she was grabbed by someone and picked up at the same time.

She looked at the god picking her up, ready to yell at them as well, but she suddenly got really silent as soon as she turned around and looked at them.

She looked at a tall woman with long blond hair and a general appearance that humans and gods alike would simply describe as beautiful.

She was wearing a dress that looked like it came from the 21st century and not their time, just like Nemesis' clothes.

Nemesis looked at her, started to blush, and suddenly got very nervous.

"Aphrodite? I thought... you couldn't come today."

The goddess looked down at Nemesis while still grabbing and holding her up on her clothing.

She didn't seem to be enjoying the tantrum that Nemesis threw before.

She didn't look angry though, she just looked embarrassed and disgusted with Nemesis' actions.

Not changing her expression a bit, she let down the small goddess; "I was originally planning not to come, but I was asked to be present as well as you. Apparently, I am to be one of the five to give their blessings to the birth."

She walked past Nemesis and towards Zeus, not looking back but still talking to her.

"As we are at this Nemesis, you are not allowed to play brat, just because I am not present.

You may now be over a thousand years old but are still one of the junior goddesses.

You have to show respect to your seniors and even more respect to a member of the council of gods."

Nemesis looked down while her eyes started to get teary, yet Aphrodite didn't seem to change her attitude.

"You're no child anymore; stop acting this pathetic before the eyes of all the other gods."

She averted her eyes from Nemesis and positioned herself, so she stood right behind Zeus, where she made no sound but a quiet: "I apologize."

Zeus did not say a word.

He instead started laughing out loud, in a tone that could be heard by everyone:

"You must have spent a long time amongst the humans, Aphrodite!

You're starting to be just like a Mother!"

Aphrodite didn't like to hear any of his words and answered with a less respectful answer that could nearly be seen as an attack;

"If you say so, oh great godfather, you should be to know most about humans, more precisely human mothers."

She turned around, facing Nemesis again before she finished talking, and only looked back over her shoulder;

"At least seen by the number of mothers you already created"

Zeus didn't look back at Aphrodite and just had an empty look of defeat on his face, followed by an almost sickening silence.

The silence continued until another god stepped forth, which already made all the spectators uneasy due to the chaotic start and the sudden fighting of gods at the center of everyone's attention.

" Ah, come on, come on, we can't have the big gods fighting here while we're supposed to be working on the birth of a new god, can we? "

Walking towards the mayhem happening at the moment was a young-looking man with long, open, straight black hair.

His eyes look like they were closed, yet it seemed like he could see just fine, judging by the way he nearly danced around the people in the crowd to make his way into the center.

As he finally came out into an open view, you could see his clothing, which looked like a robe made out of the same material as Zeus' clothing. It was a clean white robe that seemed to have no single stain of dirt on it, with wide sleeves and the same baggy pants that Zeus wore.

The more he talked, the more the uneasiness seemed to disappear, which probably comes from his extraordinary smooth and calm voice.

"We should really focus on this ritual, shouldn't we?"

He clapped once and positioned himself next to Zeus, which showed the height gap even more.

"Let's not concentrate on the debate, if our good Zeus here should be wearing the title of: "God of fertility" or not, but instead on this so long-awaited birth."

Zeus was silent the entire monologue and looked like he was about to erupt into anger.

Though suddenly he started laughing even stronger than before, which nearly sounded like lightning struck right inside the center of the ritual hall:

"I was afraid that our ritual would be way too monotone and stiff, though it seems like our new friend already blessed us with luck before he was even born.

That shows a perfect future for him, doesn't it?"

He gave the smaller god a big slap on the back and then cracked his knuckles while looking way more determined than he was before.

"Thanks to your great sense of humor, the new god is sure to be filled with great positivity, Apollo."

Zeus stood at attention again, raised his arms, and started his speech again:

"I apologize for this little comedic break, but at least it showed us all that today, there is no need for a long introduction of the event.

So without further ado, let us start the birth of the god of luck and fate!"

Zeus clapped his hands once, which again made the same sound as if a bolt of lightning struck the hall.

After the sound vanished, Zeus, alongside 4 different gods, walked to the prominent circular mark in the middle of the hall and stood around it in a circle.

The five gods stepping forward were:

The godfather; Zeus,

The god of Archery and Music; Apollo,

The god of war; Ares,

The goddess of Beauty and love; Aphrodite

and The goddess of Revenge; Nemesis.

All of them reached out their arms, so they reached into the middle.

After a few seconds of pure silence, a bright light appeared before them. The light grew bigger the longer their arms were stretched out into the middle until eventually, the light became big enough that all five of them seemed to touch the light.

They let the now gigantic orb of light sink to the floor after Zeus seemed to chant some kind of ancient ritual song.

The light started to explosively expand as soon as only the tip of it touched the floor, which blinded everyone present.

After the light and blindness started to vanish, no one could believe what they saw.
