16 Sleepover

Third Person's Point of View

"Are you guys sure about this?" Sonia asked again looking at Cole and Dianne whose been following her till the school gates.

"Oh come on Sonia! Its a once in a lifetime opportunity." Cole enthusiastically stated giving the girl a peace sign causing the blonde to sigh in defeat.

"I'll call my mother." A series of yes and high fives came from both Cole and Dianne as they watch Sonia pulled out her old looking phone and dialing her mom's number.

It ranged for a few seconds before a beeping sound came from the other side of the phone.

"Sonia, is there something wrong?" Her mom, Gaia asked from the other line.

"Mom, we had to sew our backdrop tonight so that we could get started. Could we held a sleepover at the house?"

"Oh, then I'll whip something up for your friends. Go home and clean your room okay?"

A smile made its way to Sonia's lips as she look at her friends giving them a thumbs up.

"Okay, Bye Mom love you."

With a small love you too from her mom, Sonia ended the call to look at her friends.

"You aren't going to home to grab clothes?" She questionned.

Cole and Dianne didn't respond and instead look at each other sheepishly.

"Well, since tomorrow is Friday, its PE uniform day and which is why..." Dianne trailed off the two gesturing their bags that Sonia instantly understand shaking her head with a laugh.

"Well then, shall I take you to my place?"

————

The three stand at a small gate of Sonia's house, Inside the gates lies two different houses one is a small wooden cabin and the other is a house made of cement.

"Please, get in." Sonia invited opening the gate and gesturing for her friends to get in. They follow the blonde girl to the small cabin and greeted by sets of antique furnitures. Right after entering the door was a small living room, to the left was a small window and to its right was a small hallway. Behind the living room was a four seated square table made of the same wooden material as the house and an L shaped kitchen sink consist of a counter and and behind the counter is a stove a ricr cooker and a microwave.

"You can leave your bags here in the living room if you want." Dianne watched in awe seeing some hanging plants in some of the areas of the house.

"Sonia, where are you going?" Dianne shifted her gaze to the girl Cole just called out, she walked out of the door but turned when she heard Cole's call.

"Let's go greet my mother!"

The two was beyond confused, but followed in suit anyway walking to a small garden of vegetables and flowers straight to the bigger house they saw earlier.

"Mom, I'm home!" The blonde called out.

Series of small steps could be heard and before they could process what's going on, a small version of their friend popped out from her waist as small arms are wrapped around Sonia's waste.

"Hello Maple sweetie."Sonia enthusiastically greeted kissing the girl on the forehead who giggled in response.

"This is my younger sister Maple." She introduced gesturing to the girl with the same blonde hair as her but darker yet has a lilac sparkling hues that shones innocence.

"Hello Maple." Cole greeted making the kid buried her face deeper to her older sister's waist resulting a squeal from Cole. "She's adorable!"

Dianne, who seemed unfazed by the act roll her eyes in process. "I'm not a kid person guys, sorry."

"Sonia?" From the kitchen, a voice of a woman was heard and her footsteps came close till it reached the kitchen's doorway. A woman in her thirties went out of the room holding a tray of food with a smile, her blonde hair same of Sonia compliments her cerulean colored orbs showing all kindness like her two daughters.

"Good evening Auntie." The two stated with a bow, eyeing the appearance of the three blondes in front of them.

"I'll take your dinner to Sonia's cabin so that you guys can focus on your work."

———

"I requested my grandfather to make me a separate house from my parents because of some struggles which is why I have this cabin for my self." Sonia explained upon noticing the silence from her friends.

"You're independent." Sonia didn't respond to Dianne's compliment and only pulled out the white fabric that they bought at the mall.

"How about starting to sew the the fabric for the backdrop?" The three started doing the sewing on the cabin's living room talking about random stuffs until Sonia notices something from a part of where she'll stitch next.

"How do you connect this sides?" She asked.

"Oh this?" Dianne grabbed the part from Sonia's grasp before started stitching that part. "Let me do this. You can try connecting another meter on the left."

"I didn't know you had a quirk in stitching." Sonia admired watching her friend professionally moved her hands in an orderly manner.

"It's actually just a hobby."

Cole and Sonia watched in awe as the girl continues to sew cleanly while struggling to do their part.

"I brought dinner!" Gaia entered the cabin only to see the three sprawled on the floor in fits of laughter, her eyes fell upon his laughing daughter whose clutching her stomach in a series of giggles.

"Thanks mom."

"Anytime." The woman mouthed before leaving the cottage listening as his daughters laugh echoes till her garden, a smile coating to her face as she went inside to be greeted by her young daughter watching cartoons.

————

"She changed." Out of nowhere Sonia blurted grabbing the attention of the two people busy with the sewing and music editing beside her.

Dianne though, already had predicted of what she meant respond immediately.

"No she did not. You just saw her true colors." She stated eyes not leaving the task at hand.

"Who are we talking about?"

"She likes you."

Cole and Dianne who just said different words at sync stopped whatever they are doing to look at each other. With Cole's confused gaze meeting Dianne's deadpan ones and Sonia on the side turning her gaze from one of her friends to the other.

"Oh!" Cole shrieked realization written all over her face. "Yara."

"Is there something wrong with Yara?" Sonia curiously asked glancing at the dark haired girl.

"Yara being Yara." Respond Dianne to which Cole agreed by nodding her head. "She likes you, and since you don't know she's taking advantage of it." The brunette added.

"I don't think she's like that..." Sonia trailed off her eyes falling back to her needlework in front.

"Well that aside, everyone in the classroom doesn't like her." Sonia looked at Dianne noticing her gossip mode being triggered by her sudden topic.

"Oh?" The blonde said in curiosity eager to hear what Dianne was to say next. "I can see that but kindly expand the topic to me."

"Well, I noticed that most classmates try to mock her." Dianne stated putting a stop to her sewing to look at Sonia. "And that her anxiety attacks were just a facade."

"Oh yeah, Merideth got mad at her one time saying she acted all freaky right before their time of performance." Sonia also stated reminiscing the events at school. "I was the one that took her to the infirmary. She said her hand was cold but I realized she just washed it."

"She shouldn't make anxiety attacks as a way to gather attention. Its not funny." The brunette's face scrunched up in disgust at the thought.

"Well I suggest you stay away okay Sonia?" Cole who was laying on her stomach on the couch stated shifting her attention from her laptop to the blonde girl infront of her. "I know my fellow curls when I see one. And seeing your ignorance, I'd hate it if you were to be taken advantage of."

Sonia, who turned her gaze at the amber hued girl on the couch didn't say anything else but only gave the girl a nod absentmindedly turning her attention back to the white fabric she's sewing, their gossip and observations continued to be shared within the corners of the small cottage.

———

Cole opened the door to the sound of Gaia's voice calling out.

"I've bought some snacks." The older blonde said carrying a tray of cookies.

"Well, the one that'll eat those are now laid on the floor Auntie." Cole sheepishly and quietly mumbled gesturing at the two girls sleeping on the carpeted wooden floor of the cottage, the sight of her daughter's calmed sleeping state immediately made Gaia smiled.

"You can put it on the fridge if you can't finish it on your own." She stated giving the tray to the black haired girl in front of her. "Its almost 3 am so get some rest for yourself too Cole. Goodnight." And with that, she walked back to the larger house after giving the girl a second glance.

"Goodnight Auntie..." Cole waved  from the doorway with the tray on her other hand, her eyes then falling to the two girls on the floor. "Well if its this comfortable, why not rest right?"

At 2:45 am in the morning the small cottage that Sonia owned is now clad in comfortable silence as darkness covered the area. And the only sound that can be heard is the soft snores that came from Dianne's small figure and the deep yet calming breathing coming from Cole and Sonia's.
