13 Husband does his job

"Little Lady. You tell me that I will get sick, but do you not realise you are not able to take care of yourself?"

"What do you mean? I'm perfectly fine."

Takahiro glared at her. The warm atmosphere had suddenly turned into the south pole.

Kahoru was a little scared and Tanaka could actually feel the cold shiver down his spine. He closed his laptop.

"Tanaka, can you get me cooling pads, a thermometer, and some medicine?"

"Y-yes boss."

The car arrived in front of the Pharmacy and Tanaka parked the car. He rushed inside to grab what Takahiro asked for. While he was searching for the things, Takahiro took his jacket off and wrapped it around Kahoru's shoulders.

"I told you i'm fine."

"If you're fine, then do you wanna do it now?"

"...Do what, exactly?"

"This."

Takahiro pushed Kahoru down onto the car seat. He held both of her wrists with one hand and started to unbutton her pink blouse with the other. Kahoru was at a loss for words, she started squirming, trying to get him to let go of his grip, but he was too strong.

Or simply because she felt too weak to fight back because she was sick. "B-big boss w-what are you d-doing?"

"What do you think i'm doing? Stop squirming so much."

Takahiro was about to bring his head down to her neck, but suddenly the front door opened. Tanaka who had just come back from getting the medication froze and was dumbfounded at what he had seen.

Did the boss decide to do it in his car?

Takahiro turned to look that the frozen Tanaka. He turned back as Kahoru yelled.

"Okay i'm sick! Are you happy now?"

Takahiro sat back up and pulled his sick wife upright and re-covered her shoulders, also covering her half exposed chest. Kahoru did not say a word after. She was too embarrassed to say anything.

She quickly buttoned her blouse as quickly as she could, underneath the jacket.

Tanaka chucked the bag at his boss and did not say a word. It was too awkward. How bold of him to throw things at his boss. He tried to keep his composure as he drove.

After the long awkward silence, Tanaka had finally reached the Ichinomiya Residence. Takahiro climbed out of backseat and gently pulled Kahoru out. He closed the door and gestured for Tanaka to wind down his window.

"Did you need anything else boss?"

"Head to the supermarket and grab a sack of rice, spring onions, coriander, Salmon and miso paste."

"Is that it?"

"Mmm... can you get me a pack of green tea bags... and hard candy?"

"Certainly."

Tanaka drove off to the supermarket to grab the ingredients. As Takahiro watched the Rolls Royce drive into the distance, He felt a small body tremble. Kahoru was very cold.

She hugged her chest and snickered. "Hard candy?"

Takahiro glared at her. "So what if I like hard candy?"

"I didn't expect that from you. Do you have a sweet tooth?

"No. I only like hard candy."

"I see. I'm not big on sweets too. I prefer sweet and sour candy."

The breeze blew through the couple and Kahoru was shaking intensively. Takahiro wrapped his arm around Kahoru's shoulder and walked into the house. They climbed upstairs and Takahiro sat Kahoru down.

"Wait here. I will get a bath ready."

"Okay."

Takahiro disappeared into the bathroom. Kahoru stared at his back. Why was he so kind? It was an arranged marriage, yet he took good care of her. No one had ever taken care of her when she was just a child.

Her parents were too busy and her siblings had school. She was usually home alone whenever she was sick. Her heart ached. A few minutes later, Takahiro came out of the bathroom. "The bath is ready. When you're finished, head downstairs."

"Mm."

Kahoru stood up and slowly walked into the bathroom. She took her clothes off and sat down in front of the shower. As she looked into the mirror, She realized Takahiro was right, she really looked sick.

Kahoru did not recognize herself and stared at the mirror with a cheerless expression. She had taken care of her patients and completely forgot about herself.

A lump had formed at the back of her throat.

...

Downstairs, Tanaka had come back from his errands and was sent home. Takahiro started to prepare rice porridge with the ingredients that he asked for.

As he waited for the water to boil, He quickly washed and chopped up the spring onions and coriander. He placed them in a small bowl. Takahiro opened the lid full of boiling water and added miso paste and mixed the paste until it dissolved.

He added the rice into the pot and stirred the rice, closed the pot and prepared the salmon. He took the bones out with great speed and only added a squeeze of lemon, and salt and pepper to marinate.

Takahiro placed the salmon into the tray and then into the preheated oven. He then went back to the pot and stirred the porridge. He scooped a little bit of porridge and poured it into a small shallow plate and tasted the porridge. It was done.

The salmon also finished cooking at the same time. He scooped the porridge and poured it into a bowl and topped it with spring onion and coriander. He prepared the salmon in a rectangular plate and also garnished it.

He also served himself. They both did not eat dinner yet. After preparing the food, Takahiro placed the food onto the dining table. This was going to be their first homemade meal together.

Thump thump thump!

Takahiro turned to see Kahoru walk downstairs and towards him. Her hair was damp and her cheeks and nose were red, probably from her shower and her fever.

She wore baby blue long sleeved pyjamas.

Her eyes were a little red and puffy. It looked like she was crying.

"Something smells nice." Kahoru looked at the dining table and saw two bowls of rice porridge and a two plates of salmon. They had steam rising up from them. It was only just cooked.

Takahiro walked up to Kahoru and he ripped open a cool pad and stuck it to Kahoru's head.

"Open your mouth."

Kahoru obediently opened her mouth and Takahiro stuck a thermometer inside of her mouth. she closed her mouth and waited for the temperature to come up.

Beep! The thermometer beeped. Takahiro slid the device out of Kahoru's mouth and looked at the thermometer."Thirty-nine."

"It's that high?"

"Mm. Now go eat before the food gets cold, and take this after you eat." Takahiro handed the box of medicine to her."

"Okay."

They both sat on opposite ends of the table. He watched Kahoru. "Little lady. Were you crying?"

"Of course not."

It was obvious that she was lying. Kahoru's voice was slightly trembling. As she stared into the food, she wondered, why did no one make her something like this? The little lady grabbed her spoon and dipped it into the porridge.

She lead the spoon into her mouth. Her eyes widened. The porridge had a pleasant taste. She suddenly felt so much better. Then she felt something warm fall down her cheeks.

"Little lady?" The big boss did not expect his little lady to cry.

"I-I told you i'm not crying. Since when did you start calling me little lady?" Kahoru pouted.

"How can you change the subject while crying?"

"The food tastes good. That's why i'm crying." Kahoru wiped her tears.

"Glad to hear that. I started calling you little lady because it seems more fitting than pouty. Does it not?"

"I guess so."

Takahiro stood up and moved to sit next to Kahoru. Kahoru's eyes followed the man.

"What are you-"
