4 A New Beginning

4 years later...

The halls in the Yukira Medical group in America were filled with surgeons ,doctors and nurses rushing to their destinations.

Whilst on the ground level of the building, Kaho had just finished up a five hour surgery. She walked out of the room and stretched.

...

In the last four years, Kaho had worked hard and became one of many skilled general surgeons. She was twenty-six now and was very talented for a person that young.

She had told herself to work hard and not to worry about others. Considering what had happened a few years ago, she wasn't interested to make any friends.

She did in fact make one during her last year Of high school.

...

As Kaho finished changing, she heard a high pitched voice. "D-Dr. Yukimura, could you please check the details of the kidney stones patient?"

"Okay. Could you please hand it over the papers to me?" Kaho turned around and gave a cold eye to the nurse.

The nurse quickly gave the papers and immediately walked off. After the incident, Kaho had been a cold person ever since.

...

Her workers felt intimidated by her aura and only went near her to give her documents, but they would often run out the moment they gave them to her.

When Kahoru first came, she was a bit chubby and was very cheerful but when she came back from Japan after her break, everyone noticed she became distant and cold.

It also had been four years, Kaho had lost a lot of weight and was known as the 'beauty of the hospital'. Her body was well proportioned; legs were long and and her black hair had reached her waist.

She had thin bangs that just reached her eyes and her thin side-bangs had just reached her jawline. She looked even more pretty with a doctor's coat on.

...

As Kaho was about to go home, She heard a voice call out to her. "Kahoru, Wait! I need to tell you something!"

Kahoru turned around and looked to see who was calling her. It was Mei. "What do you want sis?"

"Let's go to my office and talk about it."

"Okay."

As the sisters walked off towards the Director's office, Kaho went on her phone and texted someone. When they walked in, they sat on a couch that was in front of the table. Mei then offered Kaho tea. "Do you want tea?"

"No need."

"Okay then let's get to the point! I called you here today because I assigned you to a big bro's hospital. You'll be starting there after New Years."

"Wait, what? Japan?" Kaho was dumbfounded at what Mei had said.

"Yes! Where else would big bro have his headquarters? I assigned you there because the hospital here is over staffed and big bro needs more staff. It's becoming hectic over there."

Kaho was hesitant to go back to Japan because of the incident. But her brother's hospital had patients that needed her help, so she agreed to her assignment.

"Okay. I'll go."

"Thank you so much little sis!"

Kaho walked out of the hospital and headed towards a Japanese restaurant to have dinner with a high school friend.

As Kaho went inside she spotted the girl who was waiting for her. "Kaori. I'm here."

"About time! Come sit!"

"Mm."

Kaho sat opposite of the girl. She had the face of a porcelain doll, Her light brown hair that was supposed to reach her hips was tied up into a neat bun and she was a little bit taller than Kaho.

Her name was Xu Kaori. Her father was Chinese and her mother was Japanese. Kaho and Kaori had been friends since their high school days.

Although Kaho had changed in the last four years, Kaori still stuck by her side, like a good friend would do.

It was Christmas Eve today so the girls had a feast. "Oh, Kaori. I need to tell you something."

"Hm? What is it?"

"I'm moving back to Japan in ten days."

"That's nice!" All of a sudden Kaori stopped chewing and looked at Kaho with shock. "J-Japan? That's so far away! You're moving without me?"

"Don't worry. Aren't you moving there as well?"

"In about four months. I need to finish my contract with the restaurant."

Kaori worked at a restaurant as the head chef. She was a lot more different as she was more strict and demanding in the kitchen. If people did not cook the food properly, the customers might get food poisoning and sue the restaurant. She didn't want that to happen.

"I'll see you there then." The girls had finished their dinner and headed to the arcade. They were going to celebrate Christmas together.

They spent majority of the night at the at the arcade and then headed to Kaho's house to drink the night away.

After Christmas, Kahoru spent the last few days working with the patients she was assigned with, making sure they were in good hands after she left.

...

It was now January 3rd.

Kaho had finished packing everything that was in her apartment. The movers were preparing to move her boxes that was going to be shipped out to Japan, so they could arrive safely at her new apartment.

She contacted her father, and he had found a small apartment five minutes from her brother's hospital. The apartment was owned by one of Makoto's friends.

...

Tang Shen, Mei and their daughter Rachel, helped Kaho take her luggage downstairs. They drove her to the airport. "Thank you for all these years!" Mei was ready eyed.

"Mm."

"Good luck at your brother in law's hospital!" Tang Shen patted Kaho's shoulder.

Rachel also joined in on the goodbyes. "Bye bye Aunty!"

"Bye bye Rachel!" Kaho softly patted her head.

"Kaho! Don't forget about me!" Kaho turned over to where the voice had come from and it was a very upset Kaori running towards her. Kaori slowed down and gave Kaho a big hug.

"I'll see you in a few months." Kaho hugged back.

"You better not forget me!"

"I won't."

Kaho waved to them and walked into the boarding gate.

"She's not even going to smile? I thought she'd at least give us a smile!" Kaori pouted.

"Give her some time to heal. after mother's death, something else must've happened to her. It's been four years and she hasn't smiled. I feel sorry for her." Mei hooked her arm around Kaoris neck and hugged her from the side.

"Let's go back. I'll drop Rachel at my parents' house and you can go with Kaori straight to the hospital.

"Okay let's go!"

...

It had been fourteen hours since Kaho flew and all she did was sleep and listen to music. She got the window seat, so she watched the clouds occasionally.

The plane was about to land in Japan and Kaho felt a little uneasy. What was going to happen from now on?

She had been running away from herself all these years and due to her moving back to Japan, she felt the need to avoid the people she knew. She didn't want to get humiliated again.

The plane finally had landed and Kaho was the lad to leave the plane. She was nervous. What were her father and brothers do to her when she sees them again? She did leave the country without saying goodbye.

She went through customs and walked out of arrivals. She looked around for her brothers and found them towards the back. They held a sign that said : welcome home big sis!

Kaho noticed them and walked towards them. As she was about to surprise them, she heard Ryu say something. "Shin, did you see her walking out of the gate?"

"No. Did she tell us the wrong time?"

"I'll kill her if she gave us the wrong time!" Ryu fired up.

"Who said whose going to kill who?" Behind the brothers was a cold voice. They both instinctively turned around to see a face they did not recognise.

"W-who are you miss?" Ryu was stunned. This pretty lady had approached them and she stared icicles into them. The boys felt scared.

"M-Miss I think you mistook us for someone else." Even Shintaro could not recognise Kaho. Kaho reached and grabbed both brother's ear lobes and pulled them in towards her.

"How could you not recognise your own sister?"

"K-K-Kaho-n-nee?!" Ryutaro suddenly pulled back and was flabbergasted. "It can't be! The big sis we know was chubby!" But there was no denying that her voice was the same.

"It really is her Ryu. I know her voice." Shintaro had finally realised that it was Kaho.

"Big sis? Is it really you? Oh my god you lost so much weight! You've become so much prettier!" Ryu was so shocked that he blasted the words out. Shintaro snacked the back of Ryu's head.

"OW! What was that for?" Ryu rubbed the back of his head whilst frowning at his older brother.

"We missed you big sis. Let's go home. Father and Kenjiro-nii are waiting."

"Mm!"

The siblings walked out of the airport and into the BMW that was waiting for them. Ito san was helping Kaho with her luggage. "Long time no see Lady Kahoru." Ito-san bowed and smiled.

"Long time so see Ito-san." Kahoru nodded back. She then joined her brothers in the back seat.

Kahoru did not talk on the way home. She was very tired and dozed off. It look an hour and a half to get home, so she use that time to rest while her brothers chatted.

Kaho woke up to the car hitting a bump and stretched. "Sis! You woke up! We're almost home! So you better not go back to sleep." Ryu patted Kaho's shoulder.

"I won't." Kaho watched the familiar scenery as she leaned her head towards the window. She felt a little nostalgic.

They finally arrived home and the maids welcomed the siblings. Makoto,Kenjiro, and his family stood at the entrance way waiting for Kaho. Instead of properly greeting her, they all had their jaws wide open. Who was that girl? Was it really Kaho?

"K-Kahoru?" Nana exclaimed.

"Long time no see everyone.Im sorry for not saying anywhere I left." Kaho bowed at them.

Suddenly she lifted up her head and everyone ran in to hug her. Everyone was talking all at once and all she heard was,"Kaho! You've changed!"

"Kaho you're so pretty now!"

"I'll kill you for disappearing!"

"Are you really Kaho?"

She couldn't stop hearing her name.

...

Dinner time.

Everyone was feasting on the food the chef made, and the atmosphere was relaxing. Everyone asked how she was and many other questions. "Kaho, I look forward to working with you next week."

"Me too." Kaho bowed. Because of Jet lag, Kaho needed to rest for the week so she could adapt to Japan time.

She couldn't move immediately into her apartment as her things wouldn't arrive until three weeks later. So she stayed with her family.

After dinner, Kaho was sitting in front of the T.V. With Nana. They were catching up and then a small child wobbled her way to Nana. "Mama!"

Nana picked up the little girl in her arms and kissed her on the cheek. "It's your bedtime soon. I'll read you a story!"

"Yay!"

"Sister in law. Who is this child?" Kaho was stunned as she had never seen the child before.

"This is Yuka my daughter. We had her when you were in the US. She is turning three this year.

"She's really cute."

"I know right? Yuka, this is your Aunty Kahoru. Please treat her well!" Nana introduced Yuka to Kahoru and Yuka nodded. She was happy that she had an Aunty. Everyone else was her uncle and grandpa.

"Nice to meet you Yuka-chan."

"Okay Yuka-chan, time to go to bed!"

"Okay!"

Nana went to put Yuka to bed, Kahoru went back to her room to sleep. The fourteen hour trip was very tiring and Kaho went straight to bed. she spent the whole week adjusting to the time zone.
