10 Introducing the Academy

"So now you can come with us!" said Jordie placing her hand on my knee. Then looking to the others for support.

"I can? How and When?" I asked, eyes expanding with this news.

"Well to be honest I'm not sure. We have a time span of one week to report to the academy. So we were going to spend the most of our time with you before going to claim our academic spots..." Shaina trailed off.

"Ah what about appealing to the Elder Selection [1]" said Jordie with a stubborn look.

I looked at them questioningly, gaze falling again on Shaina.

<Sigh>

"So each year the academies have two spots open for families this includes the various branch families that share the same surname. Of course the two eldest descendants of the family gets first choice to enter the academy or they can choose to wait till next year. However, once the two spots are filled. The remaining eligible family members must wait till next year" explained Shania.

Josey chimed in, "Again the eldest always gets first dibs. So if the eldest opted out the previous year. They still will be given first choice again the following year.

Meg reached out touching Shaina's shoulder. Shaina nodded "and this could be your chance as pointed out by Jordie because Bethana as far as I'm aware you're from a family of Ordans...."

"Well I've heard enough, my curiosity is satisfied. Shall we head out to find those two brats, princess and sunshine. Then get back to the academy. So I can lay down" stated Yoongi whom had stood up stretching. Then glanced at the still seated Namjoon questionly.

"Still self absorbed... and lazy" responded Josey with a shake of her head.

Yoongi gave her a death glare and she reciprocated the look.

"Actually... That's a good point Meg". Startled by Shaina's outburst. It seemed that Shania and Meg had been having a discussion.

"Namjoon you're the youngest president of the Wren Sect at the academy. Can you lend us a hand?" asked Shaina.

Yoongi seemed to be exasperated that Namjoon hadn't gotten up but refused to say anything. So instead he sat back down.

However, Namjoon did not speak right away. He seemed to be thinking.

Suddenly he spoke, "I do not think I can be of much help to be honest. I don't have pull with the Elder Selection in terms of acceptance but what I can tell you is this. Sometimes the spots are not filled due to each country having an academy."

Seeing my hopes dashed and confused, Meg spoke up "sometimes a country may have more than one academy. For instance the United States has two. An east and west coast academy." She blushed slightly avoiding Namjoon's lingering gaze.

He then nodded with an encouraging smile and continued, "So if we take it for a fact that Bethana is from an Ordan family. It's possible for a new family-clan to be created, automaticaly opening up two spots".

"However" he said holding up a hand. "A check of Heritage[2] will have to be done. To see if she's from an existing clan".

"Which can result in two things" he said holding up two fingers.

"First, she may be from a registered family-clan who's descendants stopped inheriting gifts". Alternatively, there may be other children in the clan that are ahead of her age wise".

"I doubt that age will be a problem" spoke Yoongi.

"Ya! I have had it from you and your rude outbursts" shouted Josey.

"Josey. That's actually a good thing. Even if it's an insult to comment on a lady's age" said Shaina given an icy glare towards Yoongi.

<Ahh> Namjoon spoke up, "That's good news for you Bathana if you are roughly the same age. Then you might be the eldest."

Jordie glanced at me. Then looked at the others. "So how long will the heritage check take? Soon enough that Bethana will be able to join us in a week or...?"

Seeing the downcasted faces of my friends. I became dejected with the news. I sighed, glancing down at my hands and intertwining my fingers together.

Suddenly, I felt a weight on my left shoulder. Looking up I locked eyes with Namjoon. "So why don't we go to the academy? Right now". He smiled, "Cause this is something I can do. Like give a tour around campus to a potential student. Which so happens to go right by admissions.

[1] Elder Selection- A yearly admission letter requesting the eldest two descendants to confirm their want to attend an accadmey. After confirmation of two eldest descendants per country. A placement test will be conducted to determine, the individuals respective enrollment grade.

[2] Heritage Check- Like genitic testing. Except non-invasive, so no drawing blood. More so like a scan. If you have ever seen a plasma ball and touched one. The test basically tests an individual's aura while also looking at the genes gathered by the skin cells of the hand which is touching the plasma like ball.
