Chapter 34: Declaration of War

Running through the city, Kaya traversed through the alleyways in which speedy players caught up with him as they cast their skills.

Flowing Shuriken!

The throwables shot right at him in various directions. Kaya adjusted his speed to balance enough to maneuver the strikes by parrying them with his purple sword.

Peng! Peng! Peng!

"He blocked a Lock skill!?"

"How can he even swing that sword in such a small area?"

"As expected of Vagabond!"

The assassins had mixed emotions as they continue in their pursuit. Thousands of the players were waiting idly in different parts of the city to ambush Kaya. Thousands more went in pursuit including all elite members of the dark guilds that were stationed in the city and a few upper echelons of Dark Carnival Guild.

"There he is! Catch him!"

Earthern Blockade!

Chain Unbound!

Uproot!

Numerous crowd control skills appeared to bind Kaya's movements but Kaya simply went through this obstacles and the players who thought that they were successful with their binding quickly turned sour as the skills disperse before they could even touch his body.

"What the fuck!?'

"Is that a skill? No, I didn't even see him cast a skill!?"

"Maybe it's because of his equipment!"

"Shit! He's running away!"

Pursuers tried to keep up with him but only assassin classes could barely catch up and they couldn't even activate any of their lock skills since Kaya would just parry it and it wouldn't even slow him down.

Soon Kaya arrived at the outer walls of the capital and as if they had expected his arrival, a giant array appeared in the area.

Ting~

[Your movement speed has fallen by 15%, and BLINK skills have been prohibited from using inside the array.]

[Your Strength has been weakened by 18%]

[Damage you receive is increased by 21%]

' They're going all out just to capture me.'

Kaya smiled after seeing the thousands of players blocking his path. Each one of these players was a member of a dark guild and all were in the level 150-180, there were even some 190s around.

"You're cruel ire ends here Vagabond!"

"This is revenge for killing Bird! An atrocious act that is equal to death a hundred times!"

"You had this to yourself! No hard feelings!"

"Fire!"

Thousands of spells and skills fire at him from every angle. With his blink skills cut off, death was the only thing waiting for Kaya but Kaya simply smiled as scales on his armor flew out of his body that blocked 50% of all the spells incoming while he repelled the other skills that managed to enter his perimeter. The dazzling display of swordsmanship was something to gawk at and as soon as the smoke disperse, what was left was Kaya with his health still full and bladed scales hovering around him.

"What the fuck!?"

"How in the world?"

"That's an absolute cheat! There's no way he survived that!"

"Full health!? Not even 1 HP was lost!?"

"What the hell are those flying scales made of? Titanium?"

The players were gobsmacked. They weren't expecting this outcome at all and were confident Kaya would die from that since not even a tier 5 player couldn't leave unscathed by that bombardment of spells and skills. The whole scene was being recorded live and players all around the world streamed to watch the fight including the many hopeful Japanese and when they saw Kaya unscathed, they cheered and spammed that chat with 'Common W Vagabond' or 'Get Ratio'd'. The reason how Kaya was able to remain unscathed was particularly due to the causality damage, he was able to use it in a wide area that made it possible for him to deflect the skills and although Shards of Abyss was in cooldown since he had just used it, he had used Diminish to refresh all the skills he had on him.

'I can't fight here.'

Kaya scanned the surroundings for any ways he could escape but before he could move, his pursuers had arrived including Bull, Rhino, and Bird. Rhino specifically was furious as his face was flustered red.

"You! I'll kill you!"

Moon Dive!

Rhino performed a twisting leap as his entire body spun around like a cyclone and a moon appeared around his body due to the constant spinning and right as it collided with Kaya, the entire area was turned to rubble as only a crater, and Rhino was left in the center with no sign of Kaya.

"Look above!"

They immediately tilted their heads in the sky and saw Kaya hovering in mid-air with his eyes looking down at everyone. He didn't utter a single word nor did he release any of his domain but just the fact that he towered over everyone with his cold gaze placed shivers in their body. Kaya sped through the outskirts and arrived at the grasslands where he stood motionless waiting for everyone to arrive.

"Why is he standing there..so menacingly?"

"Shouldn't he log out now? He's already escaped the city."

"No, I think he's inviting us to come right at him."

They stand outside of the walls until they covered the entire grasslands with over a million players scouring every direction that surrounded Kaya. The majority of these players were Bird fanatics while a few were dark players who simply wish to join the fight. Rhino, Bull, and Bird arrived to meet up with Kaya and Rhino decided to face him.

"You're the reason why Bird has been unwell this past day. Killing you won't be enough, no I'll make your entire life a miserable hell!"

Rhino screamed at Kaya with a face red as a tomato. Soon the demonic insignia in his chest glowed dark red as his entire body exude with crimson aura.

"Oh no, Vagabond is done. Rhino has undergone a demonic metamorphosis."

"I could only pity him but who's to pity when he gave the goddess, Bird a trauma."

"He deserved that. A man should've never messed with the wrong person and now, he's set the ire of the Blood Carnival Guild."

"Big L for the guy. He deserved it."

The players could only watch Kaya in sympathy as they know very well that messing with an angry Rhino was equal to offending a tier 4 NPC. Nothing comes good when you offend a tier 4 NPC.

"Die!"

Rhino charged at him like a raging rabid dog as his mouth was foaming and his entire eyes turned red. He has turned into a demonic being as Kaya could feel the same deathly energy that he was brimming distinguishable to Damned Daniel's, although incomparable to that of a high demon, it was still strong.

As soon as Rhino lunge his crescent knives at Kaya, they were expecting him to tear through Kaya's body but the unexpected happened. As if time had slowed down, Kaya's speed was so fast that each movement he made left after-images. He swept to the side and held Rhino's head by his red mohawk as he performed Consecutive Strikes. His entire body was chopped by Kaya's fast and accurate swings and his health immediately fell by zero. Time returned normally and before they could say "Damn son.", Their reactions quickly switched to "Damn son!". Rhino's body fell to the ground that turned into perfect cubes of flesh and guts. In Kaya's hands was Rhino's head that remained with the same furious expression on his face as he pointed it at Bird who saw it and was quickly overcome with goosebumps instinctively pressing the [Log Out] button due to the fear that Kaya might take action.

"Holy shit."

"Did you just see what happened? It just escalated so quickly."

"I'm an assassin and I couldn't even follow up with his movements."

"What the hell just happened? He disappeared and reappeared right away with Rhino's corpse in pieces."

The spectators were confused. Rather than be shocked, they were overwhelmed with questions in their head. What just happened? How did Vagabond disappear before their eyes? How did Rhino die? Where do broken hearts go? (Not included)

Bull who watched the scene unfold in his eyes shot a glare at Kaya. He had seen everything, how Kaya moved his blade and how he minced Rhino, he saw it all. Knowing how grave the situation had been, he recalled the words of Jeremiah.

'The same level as guild leader.'

He thought of it deeply. If their guild leader was to face Vagabond, what would happen? Will they fight in a toe to toe battle? Will the guild leader overwhelm him? Or will Vagabond overwhelm the guild leader? He could not guess what will happen but one thing was for sure. The man in front of them was dangerous.

"Call assault. Increase rewards"

"Assault? You mean to go all out?"

Bull's assistant asked confusingly. Bull simply nodded and the assistant didn't fret any longer as he sent an announcement to all the dark players in the area.

Kill the swordsman, Vagabond.

Rewards: 500 million dollars, 20,000 Gold Coins, Tier 3 Legendary Item]

When everyone saw the change in the rewards, everybody had their jaws on the floor. The previous rewards only stated 100 million dollars, 5,000 gold, and a tier 3 epic set item but now the rewards had been increased by an astronomical amount.

"It seems like I'll be eating good tonight!"

"In your dreams, I'll be the one to kill Vagabond."

"Nah, that reward is mine!"

"No, it's mine!"

Their eyes flashed with greed as murderous intent surged around their body. They didn't feel fear anymore rather, all they could see from Kaya was the dollar sign that wrap his body. The rewards were too tempting not to pass up and with a million players surrounding Kaya, there was no way he'll survive their assault.

"Attack!"

Everybody screamed as they charge right at Kaya. It was like a zombie invasion in World War Z as everybody crashed towards Kaya. Rains of arrows fell in the sky, thousands of magic spells shot in the air and hundreds of thousands of melee players dashed towards him.

'Going all-out huh? Well then, be my guest!'

Kaya activated Bloodlust, Blood Domain and Fighting Monarch's Domain as a giant dome of red and purple array appeared that surround the entire grasslands. The players halted at first after seeing the array but realizing that they didn't get any debuffs, they continued to charge.

'I guess it's time for me to throw away this Crimson Blood item, their effects can't keep up with the opponent's tier anymore.'

Kaya felt regret as a increased his peripheral range by activating all of The Void. As soon as they come close to Kaya by 50 meters, they felt a massive weakening in their body and they could barely raise their weapons at him. Kaya didn't hesitate as he swing his sword right at the red spot that appeared on their body and in one shot, a player was killed.

Seeing that his name immediately turned red, Kaya sighed in relief. His name hadn't turned red a while ago when he killed Rhino since he was a Demonic Apostle and he also gained one level. Mammon had cursed him again but he had removed it with Arianna's Stigma. The reason he had chosen to run away right after seeing Roman die was not that he was afraid but rather, he didn't want to become a red player in the capital, NPC guards might kill him and he'd be placed in prison afterwards (That's being a pussy dawg). Now that he was outside the city walls, he could go all out.

Swing!

One slash killed numerous players at once and even those from outside Kaya's range. They were surprised to see hundreds of players die in an instant but didn't stop as they changed formation and allowed their tanks to go ahead in the front and activate their CCs.

"What!? Crowd control doesn't work on him!"

"Shit! Block his sword with your shields!"

"Tanks activated your life-saving skills!"

Kaya poured poison in his sword as it brimmed with a green aura, he then proceeded to weave and tread a path around the tanks slashing through their impenetrable defense like a small needle pressing through a cloth. He spun his blade like a drill and slashed their necks as their heads fell off from their body and those who charged him from the rear was also killed before they could even know it and could only wonder how they died despite Kaya not throwing any strikes directly at them. Those who observed from the rear could only scream.

"Causality damage!"

"What causality damage!?"

"Holy shit! This is big news! Big news!"

Many journalists who observed the battle immediately wrote an article about it and posted it on the forums. Players who could use Causality Damage to such an extent could only be counted by one hand. Causality damage was well-known since it could be found in many high-tiered NPCs and these NPCs could only be ranged from marksmen to mages, but to think a swordsman could use Causality Damage dumbfounded them. This was the first in the entire history of Haven of God.

"Shit! Run away, we can't afford to fight him in close combat! He's too fucking strong!"

Everyone seemed to agree with the words of the player but Kaya didn't allow them to escape. With Call of the Void, one swing of his blade tore their entire body in half and thousands of invisible blades followed through it which was the true damage attacks that was added with Repeater. Kaya didn't stop there as he spun around like a tornado making any offensive strike at him deemed useless like he could predict all the attacks coming right at him, blocking them with ease. One after another, an afterimage was enough to kill a player, two after images were enough to kill 5 players, one swing was enough to kill 20 players, and one skill was enough to kill 100 players. This went on in a long run but despite the bloody massacre, nobody hoped to stop, the rewards were just too tempting to pass up. Kaya had already killed 100 thousand players but the numbers didn't lie, Kaya was still overwhelmed by the quantity and it had only been 30 minutes, Kaya should've been exhausted from the nonstop movement.

"His stamina should've drained! Everybody attack him all at once."

"Tire him out! We can't afford to lose such a huge sum of money!"

"I refuse to believe he doesn't get exhausted, even tier 5 players should be slowing down from facing so many players."

They continued to attack. In reality, though, Kaya's stamina was still full. Since everyone had higher tiers than him, with his skill Restlessness, he could heal up his missing stamina instantly.

'No need to rush, I'll give them a good show.'

Kaya smiled as he felt exhilarated as more players wish to join the fight. The battle had long gone viral, millions more players joined the battle due to the tempting rewards and some of which just want to watch the fight personally. These were the few times they could see a player face millions at once. It was one of the rare occurrences that will remain a legend in the history of the game.

"Quick! Activate the arrays!"

The players who were sneaking around immediately activated an array that weakened Kaya but Kaya simply adjust his strength a bit more since all this time, he was only using 40% of his overall attributes. Now he increased it by 50%.

With the scattering of players, Kaya activated Shunpo and Blink countless times and when he disappeared, he'd have killed 10 more players and after appearing, he'd kill 10 more. He'd been damaged a few times but it didn't budge his health, despite the dome disappearing and now his Epic item set that gave him Lifesteal was destroyed due to the constant attacks, he still had a spell vamp and Lifesteal in his body from the Blood Stone he consumed so he could heal up his health back to full.

His name had long turned pitch black and if he was killed at this point, he'd lose 20 levels, and 90% of his items in his inventory which was inconceivable since what he had on right now was equal to the loot of a Grand Lord Boss Monster.

The alert from his cabin had been constantly ringing in his view and it seems he had to hurry up so Kaya didn't hold back anymore as he briefly used 100% of his attributes and used Monarch's Authority to pull all of the players towards him.

Immediately a million players were pulled by an invisible force that threw them to a pile around 50 meters from him and Kaya immediately activated Void Binding as millions of black vines sprout in the ground locking all their movements then activated Consecutive Strikes empowered with Repeater and Call of The Void.

Swing! Swing! Swing!

One second was all it took as all the bound players turned to chunks of meat that spread around the area and a series of window panels appeared in his view.

'Well that's amazing, let's switch the title out.'

Kaya immediately switch out his title Berserk! with Genocidal Maniac and immediately felt a surge of power around him as he shifted to activating Overdrive to increase his movement speed. With only half a million players remaining, they started scattering around after what they had just witnessed. One player was able to kill a million players at once with one swing of the sword. It was too astonishing to believe but as soon as they tried to flee, Kaya spread out his domain, and immediately, all the players in a few kilometer vicinities felt it hard to move.

"What the fuck...is this?"

"I... can't...move!!"

"Argh.....I'm...too..heavy!"

Everybody had the same feeling and they all felt like a 10-story building just fell over them. Bull who had observed everything knelt on the ground and could hardly move his body.

'Same power as guild leader!'

"High Primordial Realm expert."

When Bull muttered those words, as if they spread like an airborne disease, everyone fell in disbelief. Now they understood why Kaya could achieve such a powerful domain. Only a Primordial Realm expert could do something like this. Those experts were considered old monsters and could be considered legends as each one had the power to overthrow an entire kingdom if they wished to. They were people that they should never mess with.

"Shit, dying is not worth it."

"Fuck, I'm leaving!"

"This shit sucks."

The majority of the players chose to leave and log out while those hard on the head tried to retaliate. Kaya simply let those who wish to retreat leave while those who want to fight, come. Immediately, hundreds of thousands of players died in his hands and now he had garnered a little over 1.5 million kills in just an hour. His name was so black that it couldn't even be discerned from afar. Suddenly, his entire body was covered by white light and his name returned to its normal color.

'As expected of Blanket of Light, it truly is godly.'

[Blanket of Light HEAL/BUFF: Dispels all negative effects on the body and grants a holy shield that blocks any attacks for 2 seconds.

When they saw his name return back to normal, their eyes almost fell out of their sockets as their jaw hung to their mouths. Kaya simply raised his sword in the air as he spoke in a cold yet loud voice.

"I declare an all-out war to all the dark guilds, especially the Blood Carnival Guild. You killed my companion and the price for that is far from what I've done today. One week, one week is enough for me to remove your existence from this game."
