I touched down outside of the familiar mansion, once again re-applying my transformation magic to hide my wings and halo. I'd really pushed my speed to see just how fast I could travel, and I ended up getting to Shirotsume Town in only about an hour… Though it left my clothes very ruffled.
I quickly straightened them out before I walked up to the door of the mansion and knocked three times, loudly.
There was silence for awhile before the door opened, revealing a somewhat pretty young woman. As far as Fairy Tail standards went, she was about average… But she was still pretty in her own way… I recognised her as Kaby's Wife.
"Hello?" She spoke, using the word as a question.
"Hello," I smiled and lifted up the piece of paper in my hands. "I'm the Mage from Fairy Tail, here to fulfil the job request about destroying a book?"
Her eyes lit up. "Oh, thank you! We were worried nobody would come; we'd even just started discussions about increasing the reward!"
"Don't worry, the current reward is completely fine," I assured her.
"Good, good," she smiled and let me inside, leading me to a large room where Kaby was sitting down eating some snacks in his green business suit.
He looked up. "Dear, who is this?"
"This is the Mage from Fairy Tail," she explained. "He's here to help with our request."
"Oh, thank goodness…" He sighed in relief. "Thank you for coming, I was starting to worry that nobody would take this request."
"It's my pleasure to be able to help," I told him. "Why don't you start by giving me the details of this quest?"
He nodded and sat up straight. "I thought the job said I suggested a young blonde woman due to the Duke's tastes?"
"Don't worry, sneaking into his mansion should be no problem for me," I assured him. "I'm also not worried about causing collateral damage if I have to, so I have no plans on being his maid in order to get to the book."
"Fair enough," he nodded, deciding to trust me on this one given that I was the first person who had taken the job, probably. "What I want is simple… I need you to break into Duke Everlue's Mansion, and destroy the book known as 'Daybreak.' Once you do that, you'll be given your reward. I don't know where that book is, but I'd assume somewhere in his library."
"Author name so I don't destroy the wrong book?" I asked him.
I saw his fists clench slightly. "Kamu Zaleon."
I raised my eyebrow. "The famous author, huh…" I shrugged. "Well, it's of no concern to me what book it is. I'll do my job, simple as that."
"Thank you," he nodded. "I wish you the best of luck."
I only nodded and thanked him and his wife for their hospitality before I turned and left the mansion. I did some stretches, cracking my neck and back loudly.
'Right, so time to break into Everlue's Mansion… At the current point in time, would he have hired Mages to help protect his mansion in the quest… I vaguely recall in the original timeline that security was beefed up due to a group failing the mission a week before Natsu and Lucy arrived.'
[I mean, he knows that he's disliked.] BB pointed out. [So, there's every chance that he's got some mages on constant hire so that he won't be attacked, or his illegal dealings would be exposed to the world.]
'The true enemy of all politicians and the world… Paperwork,' I couldn't help but snort before I focused up and decided to walk to the Duke's mansion rather than fly there and give myself away right away.
I lamented slightly that I hadn't put more effort into my Transformation Magic, I could have changed into a small animal and snuck in… I was going to have to be smart with getting in…
Hah, who was I kidding?
I sighed and slowly rotated my shoulders. "I guess I'm going with the old Fairy Tail entry… First time for everything in my case, but hey, I've always wanted to just bust in, and fuck shit up… Well, I'll try and sneak in first and leave the fucking shit up for a last resort."
BB giggled in amusement. [You go for it, Senpai~] Her outfit changed, and I felt a shudder run through my spine at the sight of her having changed into a sexy cheerleader outfit. [Go, go, Senpai~ Do it, do it, Senpai~] She began to cheer as she did a dance, kicking her leg up high to give me a glimpse beneath her skirt, her body jiggling very pleasingly.
'… Are… Are you trying to make me horny right before a mission?' I asked incredulously.
[Depends, is it working?]
'… You know it is, you bitch,' I looked away from her. Damn it, how did she know that I had a major cheerleader fetish!?
[All I need to do is add a pair of pointed ears and you'll really want to pin me down and breed me, right Senpai? ~] BB smirked smugly, and I felt the heat rush to my face, giving her a small glare.
Damn it, did this bitch just scan through my memories to find out all of my fetishes!?
[Maybe~]
I took a deep breath to calm myself… I would teach BB a lesson later… For now, I had to focus up.
Soon enough, I came upon Everlue's Mansion… It actually wasn't a terrible looking place… Nice perimeter, three to four stories tall, even the colour was aesthetically pleasing to the surroundings… The guy may be a blackmailing dickhead, but I'd give him this much- he could make a nice house.
And I say that because, with Everlue's ego, there was no way he wasn't exceptionally hands on with the creation of his mansion.
I hummed as I decided to hang back and observe for a moment, activating my God's Eye. A quick glance into a window showed that my right eye had turned a startling shade of blue, contrasting well with my brown- almost yellow- eye.
Turning my gaze to the mansion, I noticed that there were several points on the perimeter that didn't have magical energy… If I had to guess, I would say that the construction crew who worked on his security had left a few 'blank' spots to prevent tripping alarms… Given he was a corrupt politician, my guess was that he'd simply blackmailed the company into building his house along with setting up security, and then never paid them. So, they retaliated by not setting up the security quite right for him.
I hummed and smirked as I made sure nobody was around before I removed my transformation and spread my wings. Taking to the air, I slipped in between the gaps of magical energy and headed straight to the windows at the top floor, where the attic of the mansion was.
My eye told me there was no magic on the windows, only around the perimeter, so I hummed in thought on how to get into the house without breaking any windows… I didn't know any magic for picking locks after all…
'Hm…' I tapped my chin before I had a thought. 'If I can rewind something back to a previous state… What if I tried the inverse of that, fast forwarding something…?'
It was worth a shot, at the very least… I lifted my hands and focused, creating a blue magic circle in the air in front of me. I focused on the window in front of me and visualising it going forwards, time passing at a rapid pace before it turned to dust as it was eroded to nothing.
Nothing happened for a moment; however, I could see that the wood around it decaying bit by bit… Before finally, the window collapsed and turned to dust as time finally wore it down.
I felt a pleased grin crawl onto my lips as I slipped into the attic and turned back to the window, casting Rewind once again, causing the window to slowly reform and return to normal as if nothing had ever happened at all.
'Gonna need a name for that spell…' I mentally hummed. 'Eh, Fast Forward is good enough.'
A quick glance at my Mastery Screen showed that I was now considered 'Intermediate' in Time Magic… Which meant I was now probably at the same stage like with Dragon Slaying Magic, I would need to develop 'bigger' spells like a Time Dilation Field and so on… I'd probably never master this magic truly, I could just picture that to reach the upper levels of Mastery I'd need to be able to completely rewind Time itself.
'Thoughts for later, focus on the mission,' I scolded myself.
Focusing up, I soon found the latch to open the attic. My God's Eye made sure that there wasn't anyone below me- given everyone had magic power, just not everyone had awakened it. I pulled open the latch and slipped out of the basement, successfully infiltrating the mansion.
'Right, now I need to find his library…' I thought to myself… I floated up above the chandelier, using the light to hide my appearance… I grimaced at the sight of the maids in this place… Everlue really had no sense of taste, because these girls were just ugly. Like I didn't wanna shame their bodies but… Fucking hell, any boner BB gave me was well and truly dead just looking at them…
I grimaced and shook my head as I followed one of them- not Virgo- and waited before I covered her mouth and dragged her into a room, closing it as she screamed into my mouth.
"Shut up," I growled into her ear.
"P- Please don't do anything to me," she stuttered and I almost gagged because I knew what she thought I was going to do to her. "Please, do anything but not that…"
"I'm not going to do anything to you," I growled into her ear. "As long as you tell me where the library is…"
"I- It's on the second floor, o- on the left side of the building…"
"Thanks," I pressed my finger on her neck, making her go 'eep' before I hit a pressure point on her neck… Her body immediately went limp, and she collapsed on the ground.
I stuffed her in the corner of the room where- hopefully- she'd go undiscovered until I was ready to go mental before I quietly left the room and made my way down to the second floor, coming to a set of double doors… On the south side of the building, not the north- that fucking liar maid…
I pushed them open, coming upon the library and quietly closing the doors behind me, looking over the library slowly… It was huge, much bigger than I'd expected even when knowing that Everlue was a big fan of books…
The size of the library actually worked in my favour… If his library was this big, then there was no way that it wasn't organized in some way, be it by name or by author. It would be a pain to find the book you wanted to read at the time otherwise, and he seemed like someone who kept organised.
I hummed as I decided to start by looking Alphabetically by book name first… Quickly finding the Ds, I began to browse through and- Jackpot.
I pulled out the Golden Book with the word 'DAYBREAK' on the cover in big letters.
'Perfect,' I grinned and slipped the book into my Re-Quip Space. 'Mission Complete… Now then…'
I slowly turned my gaze behind myself. "Oi, I know that you're aware I've been here for awhile now. How about you stop hiding and come on out, Duke Everlue?"
Silence.
"I see, so you were after Daybreak, huh!?" Everlue growled as he burst out of the ground using his Diver Magic… He was just as short and chubby as he was portrayed in the anime. "I don't know why you're after that trashy book, but I won't allow anyone to take from my book collection!"
I felt a smirk crawl onto my lips. "Yeah, I'm after Daybreak… What are you gonna do about it?" I cracked my neck slowly. "Don't tell me you're going to fight me."
"Fight you?" He growled. "No, I'll kill you and make sure whoever hired you for this job never even dreams about doing so again!"
"Alright then…" I allowed my magic power to slowly leak out of my body, my halo starting to rotate rapidly around my head as blue flames gently licked off of it. "I'll just save myself some trouble and take you down right away! Come on!"
