Chapter 9

"So, am I good now?" Seal asked

"Ahem, we were just surprised by your status. And yes, you're good to go. But Magic Assassin? I have never heard of that class before." The receptionist said. Many people nodded as well.

"I'm basically an assassin but I can also use magic." Seal explained.

"Have you heard about this type of people before?" Someone raised their hand and said.

"I don't know." Someone shook their head.

While many people were discussing, Seal wanted to complete the registration, so he reminded the receptionist.

"Can you finish my registration, please?" Seal poked the receptionist's side. That brought her attention back to Seal.

"Oh! Yes, just sign here, and you're all set. I forgot to mention this earlier, but the registration fee is 1000 luta." She said.

Seal signed the form and paid the fee. The receptionist began explaining things about the guild. After some time explaining, he understood most of everything now. There were ranks in the guild, and many people were given a rank based on their abilities.

The currency colors are Blue(1 luta), Red, Yellow, Purple, Green, White, Black, Silver, Gold(10,000 luta). People who were ranked Blue were the weakest, and while Gold rank was the strongest. Seal did not know why they used currency colors to give a rank to the adventurers. The receptionist told him all he needed to know about the labyrinths. The labyrinth in this town is called the Great Orcus Labyrinth, and it was easily accessible. But Seal knew that the Great Orcus Labyrinth was the hardest because it was meant to be cleared last.

'It doesn't matter which one I clear first.' Seal shrugged.

...

"That is all I have to tell you about." The receptionist finally finished explaining things to Seal.

"Okay, thank you." Seal thanked the receptionist for taking the time to explain things to him.

"It is my duty." The receptionist shook her head and said.

*BAM!*

Before Seal could bid goodbye to the receptionist, the door of the guild slam opened. A person carrying a big 2-handed blade appeared. It was Jack.

"Azathoth-san! Let's have a spar." Jack said and went off somewhere.

"...Alright." Seal followed Jack reluctantly.

They arrived at a big flat area, which was the training area, Seal guessed. Jack said something to the people in charge of the area, and they nodded back. A man walked to the middle of the field and stop everyone from what they're doing.

"Everyone, please stop what you are doing! We have a spar between 2 people. One of them is our great Black-ranked adventurer, Jack. The other person is a newcomer."

"Newcomer? He dares to challenge Jack?" Someone questioned.

"People these days are too arrogant..." A person sighed.

"Haha! It's pure stupidity!" Another person laughed.

"Now now, Jack was the one who asked the newcomer for a spar." The man announced. This caused another uproar in the crowd.

"What?! He actually did? The person who would refuse spars when asked would actually ask someone to spar!"

"I can't believe it."

"I'm actually looking forward to this battle!"

Seal, of course, heard the chatter but didn't care. He just wanted to get it over with, so he could go to the labyrinth. Besides, it would cause too much trouble to stay here any longer.

"Azathoth-san, you can pick a weapon, or you can use your own," Jack said as he presented a set of weapons, ranging from knives, shields, hammers, swords, fighter gloves, and staffs.

"I will use my weapon." Seal said while taking out the knife he bought from the system's shop. It was enough for Seal to fight with Jack because his stats will also help him during the battle.

"Okay, are you ready now?" The man, who Seal guessed was the referee, said. He raises his hand high in the air.

"Yes." Both of them said.

"Without further ado, let the battle begin!" The referee brought his hand down when he finished talking.

Jack immediately took action as he rushed towards Seal, raising his blade and swinging it. Seal widened his eyes and sidestepped to avoid the fast-moving sword.

'Fast!' Seal exclaimed in his mind. He had underestimated his opponent's agility.

"You're pretty fast," Jack said.

"Aren't you fast as well." Seal asserted.

"Haha, take this!" Jack threw his weapon at Seal and threw a kick at him.

Seal, noticing the blade flying rapidly at him, did not have time to dodge it so he raised his knife to defend against it. It bought him enough time to get out of the blade trajectory, but his knife broke.

"Goh!" He felt pain in his lower abdomen, it was someone's foot, precisely the foot Jack threw at Seal earlier. He flew backward a couple of feet and managed to regain his balance.

"Now we both do not have weapons." Seal said.

"We? No, only you do not have a weapon." Jack smiled.

"What do yo—" Before Seal could finish talking, he saw Jack open his hand and put it forward. A weapon appeared in his hand, it was the sword that Jack threw at Seal.

"Surprised? It's a magic weapon, I can recall it back to me at any time." Jack said proudly while raising his head. He was very proud of this weapon as it took him a long time to acquire this sharp and powerful weapon.

"I am, I did not know magic weapons had that feature."

"They are rare, it is normal that you don't know of it."

Seal was contemplating on what to do next when suddenly an idea pops into his head. It was risky but had a high success rate as he has been observing how Jack fought.

He dashed toward Jack, waiting for him to swing his sword. Just as he expected, Jack raised the blade high into the air. Seal took this opportunity to punch at Jack's throat. But he stopped 1 inch away from Jack's throat.

"You lost." He said.

"Haha, I lost," Jack said as he lowered his weapon.

"Alright, I'm in a hurry so if you need anything find me at the inn we're staying at." Seal said as he hurried to the labyrinth.

"Ah wai—Never mind, I will just talk to him later." Jack sighed as Seal had already exited the adventurer guild.

"OI! What are you staring at?" Jack asked the motionless onlookers.

"N-nothing, we were just surprised." The crowd got out of their shock.

"Well, I already expected it. My instincts told me he's not normal from the beginning. I can tell he was going easy on me. I have no doubt that if he tried his best, I would've been defeated instantly." Jack said.

...

Seal entered the 1st floor of the labyrinth. The labyrinth consisted of 100 floors, but in reality, the labyrinth consists of 200 floors in total. The first 100 floors were located in the Upper Level while the last 100 floors were located in the True Labyrinth Level.

The gap between the Upper Level and the True Labyrinth Level was huge. Seal knew all of this because he had read a lot of novels back on Earth. His family did as well.

He first cleared the first 5 floors using his «Hand-to-Hand Mastery», and it was very effective. Before moving to the next floor though, Seal took out his two newly bought knives and dripped his blood on them. Suddenly he felt a connection forming between him and the knives, and a lot of information flooded into his mind.

'...I understand now. These 2 weapons are not from this world, but were created when I was transported here by the spatial crack." Seal finally understood why he felt attracted to the 2 knives, or so he thought.

The knives did not come with a sheath but Seal could summon the sheaths by thinking about it. He thought that, and 2 sheaths appeared in front of Seal. One was a black sheath with pitch-black sun engraving. The other one was a white sheath with a white moon engraving. Needless to say, the black was for [Black Void] and the white was for [White Moon].

He strapped the black sheath to his right side and the white sheath to his left side. Then he moved onto the next floor while holding his 2 knives. The monsters on the 6th floor were relatively stronger but weak compared to Seal. The monsters from floors 1-19 were all Ratmen but higher level each floor. Ratman was a giant muscular rat that stands on 2 feet, they are quick but not that strong.

It was pretty easy for Seal to move on to the 20th floor without any problem. He had leveled up 6 times, making him reach level 10 in a short amount of time.

Suddenly, 2 new quests prompt popped up in front of Seal. It greatly surprised him, but at the same time made him ecstatic as he had not encountered any quests. Quests were invaluable to Seal, it contained lottery tickets and system points that he needed to become stronger. He read over the contents of the quests, and without hesitation, accepted both of them.

He then proceeded to the 20th floor with determination to make it to the end floor as soon as possible.
