19 Ch. 19

"Yeah, sure! I'll just get someone to do that for you real quick!" She said.

"You can take a seat, Sir! She'll be right there with you." She added.

I went to the side and took myself a comfortable spot. As always, the same paintings in the room with the design surrounded me. With a few familiar faces that I saw yesterday.

"She?" I thought to myself. My eyes wandered around the four corners while waiting for someone to entertain me.

"Katherine!" The cashier yelled to the kitchen behind her. Then someone who was in a waitress outfit went out of the kitchen through a door behind the cashier.

And it was someone who I least expected it could be.

"Yes? What is it?" She replied with a smile and she held a round tray to her chest.

Then I looked at her with suspicion and I wanted to grab her attention.

"Someone's here for the job." She said while opening the register and took out a couple of coins and gave them to the customer in front.

"Here, Ma'am. Thank you." She said. The other lady walked up to her.

"Where?" She asked the cashier.

"There." She said while pointing at me while she was talking to the customer next of the madam.

"Hello! Good morning, Dear customer!" She added while entertaining the customer.

The other lady walked up to where she pointed, she was a couple of seats away from me. She walked through and saw me.

Then we both froze in the realization that she was that sales lady the last day, and I was that customer she met. We both looked away from each other quickly.

"She doesn't remember you. Come on, it was a couple of days ago." I murmured silently amidst the whole noise in the restaurant.

She continued to walk through and she passed by me, trying to find where that person was among everyone else in the whole place.

"There!" The cashier again pointed out to me as the saleslady looked at me.

I'm pretty sure we had the same thought in mind.

"Oh no, it's that person from the last day!"

She walked to the table beside me with a family that was eating.

"Them?" She said with a nervous laugh.

"No, the gentleman beside you." The cashier replied.

"Oh." She said with a more nervous laugh than before.

She cleared her throat and went to me.

"Excuse me, Sir?" She said with a more confident tone. Then I replied.

"Yes?"

She stuttered.

"U-uh... Are y-you the o-one who uh... Wanted t-to inquire a-about the uhmm... Job?" She reluctantly said.

"Yes," I said in a plain tone trying to hide the fear.

"So.. uhm... I need to know something. I, I-I mean. I need to i-interview uhm. Y-you." She said while looking down with the tray buried in her chest and looking down more than ever.

"Sure," I said.

She cleared her throat once again.

"So... Have you finished junior high school?" She said

"Yes," I replied.

"Are you above the age of 16?" She said.

"17 next week," I replied.

"Do you have your diploma with you?" She replied while adjusting her bun hairstyle in the hair net.

"No, it's back at my place" I replied.

She adjusted her seating position a bit better and she placed down her tray on the table.

"You can start by next week." She said and left.

"Return here if you want to start." She added turning back with no expression whatsoever.

"Can I go?" I said standing up halfway.

"Don't go yet." She said hurriedly running to the door.

I was left alone, sitting in the four corners. Waiting.

"I can't believe I'm working with her." I thought.

"But I kinda really need this right now," I added.

I couple of glances after, she arrives with a plate on her hand. She went to me and placed it right in front of me. And it was a cupcake iced with white frosting with green spelling "Welcome!"

"Voila!" She said.

"What is this?" I asked her.

"This is what we give to new employees." She replied back.

I stared at the cupcake for some time.

"Aren't you gonna eat it?" She said to me.

Then I just ate the cupcake without hesitation.

I turn the knob but it didn't go all the way through.

"What the?"

I turned it again but still, nothing happens.

"Great. Locked out." I murmured, I checked the pockets my sweatpants and nothing was inside.

I went down to the owner and asked for a spare key.

"Yeah, sure! It'll arrive in a couple of days." He said. My jaw dropped and I was left in shock.

"A couple of days?!" I answered back.

"Yeah... the locksmith we hire isn't in town right now. He'll come back in a couple of days." He said.

"Thank you!" I said and bowed before I left.

So I haven't any money, keys, and phone. Where do I frickin' stay?" I thought sitting down beside 1A or in other words, the owner's place.

I was on the ground, sitting against the wall in deep thoughts when suddenly someone taps my shoulder. I look up in sorrow and see someone I don't regret seeing.

"What's the problem?" A deep, rich voice breathed.

"Oh, Kyle," I replied. My heart's pumping, my cheeks are red. I'm intoxicated.
