2 Farewell

A huge sound of something hitting the ground at high speed reverberated through the area.

"That... hurts less than I expected."

My voice leaks out.

"Where... Where am I?"

The sound of hurried footsteps.

Suddenly magic lights are shined on my face, I close my eyes due to the blinding light.

"Who are you!?"

A voice I don't recognize is directed at me, it's a woman's voice.

My eyes slowly get used to the light and I am able to see the person who is asking.

"Mo... ther?"

Black hair and blue eyes, her face that is just like Mother in the pictures and mine.

But I know it's not her, Mother couldn't be alive.

So this is the person Father told me to give the letter to.

"Fath... A person named Karius told me to deliver a letter to you."

I speak and reach my hand out to get the letter, but my action is interrupted by the voice of the woman.

"How do you know that name!?"

The woman is alarmed and looks at me with bloodshot-like eyes.

I can feel magic pressuring me.

"He is my father"

The answer comes out without my will.

I think it's magic, but I can't be sure that it's not something else.

I don't think that father would send me somewhere dangerous and even if I could run after delivering the letter, I can't move because of the pressure she's exerting, so I won't fight back now, I actually can't fight back, but doesn't matter.

"Follow me"

she says, so I silently and unwillingly follow her.

.

.

.

"Wait here"

These were the words that she said to me after I was led to a waiting room.

After about half an hour the woman came back with an old man, he looked a lot like father.

That man was examining me as if looking for something.

After a while of staring at me, he left a sigh escape his mouth.

"haaa... did he, Karius, tell you anything?"

"No, I... Couldn't even say goodbye to him"

Silence followed after that.

I try hard to not remember how badly hurt father was before that demon fixed me... but I can't, my hate for those who did that to father, for those who tortured us... I won't let it go down even a little.

I can feel my heart getting calmer and my hate dispersing a bit.

Before I noticed the woman was hugging me.

"Please, listen to me, you mustn't succumb to hate"

She grabbed my head softly and made me stare at her.

"Hate will only consume you and those near you. So, please... don't let it get the best of you"

Her words are the same that father always told me whenever I remembered how our situation was because of those guys.

But... It's not the same, I'm not the same.

I won't let it get the best of me, not until the sane me destroys their everything.

I shake her hands off me.

"Father said to deliver a letter to you"

I pick the letter from my pocket and give to the woman, give it to her and turn around to leave, or at least I thought I could turn around and leave, but when I get up to get out my body fails me and I fall to the ground.

My consciousness slowly left me after that point.

"Stupid grandson"

Those were the last words I heard.

.

.

.

Where am I?

I can't say anything nor can I move.

I'm standing at an old shack in the woods.

This... is where I lived with father.

I'm watching my younger-self playing with some toys in my old home.

Is it that day? it must be.

The day those guys found father and me.

Father was fixing the house while I was playing inside, our lives were calm until that point.

After we were found we were always running away.

We didn't have a moment of peace.

That's why... Why I'll really destroy everything those guys lov-

Suddenly a familiar yet strange voice interrupts me.

"Tir, listen to me"

It's just like father's voice.

"You mustn't succumb to hate, it will only bring suffering and pain to you"

But it's as if it's corrupted.

"Because if you do give in, I won't be able to rest in peace knowing you won't live a good life"

This isn't the memory I remember.

"Tir, you already know what this is"

Please...

"Don't make that face, I want you to live a good life, with friends and not one filled with vengeance and blood"

No... Don't...

"That's not why I gave you those powers"

Please don't leave me father!

"Tir, you know how much I wanted to see you grow up, but it isn't a choice anymore."

Tears start streaming down my face.

"It's not a choice about leaving you or not, I already left this world and you know that"

I felt someone hugging me.

"So... Live well, son"

Those were the last words of the man I called father, my most precious family.
