First Sight

It was the first day back. The lobby was full of students, hustling and bustling around trying to find their friends and chattering loudly about their holidays. I was one of them. Standing in a group of girls, talking about everything they'd done in their vacation. Excitement was filled in us. We are excited to know who our classmates would be, and if any of our friends would be around.

We spoke for a while when a friend of mine tapped my shoulder and spoke into my ear, " Hey Brook, check that out!" I turned around and saw this guy walking out of the reception. "Oh my," was all my brain could process in that very moment. He was tall and fair. His hair was a shade of dark hazel and his eyes a mixture of green and brown. His face was a perfect shape with strong jaws. When he walked it felt like everything suddenly got slower. I met his eye for one small second and I blushed away. It was a weird first contact. "He is cute I guess," I said to Ally, trying to sound as uninterested as I could.

Soon, teachers called out to us according to our homeroom divisions and we filed into lines. The new stranger boy was in my class. He looked older to be in our grade, but who knew. I got a few teases from the girls when he stood behind me, I quickly shushed them away. For the first time, we had already been awkward enough.
