The smell of disinfectant, a consistent beeping noise, uncomfortable sheets, a foreign object on my skin. Right, I was involved in that siren. It's a surprise my arms are still attached.

It's sore, every time I as much twitch, it feels like my arms are going to rip off.

"Against all logic, there has been the presence of disasters. Recently, there has been a rise of injuries and lives lost to these unknown beings. The very first one happened just last week, no one knows why it started or if it'll persist in the future. For now, please stay updated with the government news," came the familiar voice of a news reporter.

So it wasn't all a dream, how discouraging.

Amidst all my self ramblings, the door burst open.

"You're finally awake! Thank god. I thought I was going to lose you," my mother cried as she clasped my hand with both of hers and wept on top of me.

I feel bad for her now, I should survive so I don't give my family any more pain. My parents were always too nice, they were so much more supportive than all my classmates' parents.

My mother abruptly stood up, a look of revelation quickly adorning her face.

"Wait, I'll go tell your father and sister, I'll be right back!" she yelled as she rushed out of the room so I was left to my own devices.

I wonder why that siren happened, I don't think they were my imagination. My hands are shaking now, just the thought of it scares me, it makes my bones grow cold and my fingers stiff.

People died. But, it wasn't me, so it's fine, right?

The door slammed open again as I tiredly lifted my torso up.

"Thank goodness you're safe!" my younger sister exclaimed with a sigh of relief.

"We wouldn't know what we would've done if we had lost you," my father interjected.

I really do have such a great family, I hope I don't cause them too much trouble. I should pay for the hospital fees out of the money I made through part-time work.

I hope I never experience something like that again, I don't want to be at death's door ever again.

...

In a room filled with a representative of every country in the world, each representative had 2 people with them. It was a solemn atmosphere with tension lingering in the air, this had never happened before.

"What are we going to do? Is there even a solution for this?"

"There isn't much we can do on our end, even if we send in agents, if we can't get a signal from Japan, we won't get a signal back if we send agents in."

"However, we will never know until we try."

"The lives of agents are at risk, we can't just send them in there without knowing anything about the situation in Japan."

"Isn't that what they signed up for?!?"

"Pardon my vulgar words but, you're a piece of trash for a leader."

"How dare you speak to me in that way?! I'm the highest government official in-"

"Silence. Let's take a step back and uncover everything that we know of."

"Japan's signal cut at 17:38 13th of November, 2065."

"We have found that the connection was cut from the ground up, currently the barrier is like a dome around Japan. However, it is shrinking for an unknown reason."

"Is that it?"

"Yes, we have nothing else to work with."

"Tch. We should send in a small group of agents to scout the area. How are the satellite images looking?"

"Report!"

"Speak."

"The satellite images of Japan have been updated! Nothing can be made out from the image, it is not blurred but rather it is completely red!"

"How bothersome, send the agents in quickly."

"Yes ma'am!"

...

"There are reports of a second siren! Please stay calm and keep updated. If you are within a 3-kilometre radius of Hakata Station, Fukuoka, evacuate immediately! I repeat, if you are within a 3-kilometre radius of Hakata Station, Fukuoka, evacuate immediately!" a news reporter informed, there was a person doing sign language in the corner of the screen.

I was still stuck in the hospital bed, my arms were far from normal. They were bitten by unkillable animals so I suppose it is understandable.

What if this becomes normal? I don't want that to happen. It's too scary, I don't want to go through that again.

A group of 5 men all dressed in suits exited a helicopter, only to be greeted with a disaster. Small toy cars were driving around the city, each of them had a countdown attached to them. People were running frantically, their eyes wide and crazed, dashing haphazardly away from the toys. Amongst all the chaos, there was a consistent sound of a siren, it was a monotonous sound.

A toy car latched onto a man dressed in a plain shirt and shorts, it kept on driving higher up his back until it reached his neck. The small device embedded itself into the neck of the person, a pained scream erupted from his mouth.

A high pitched beep noise came from the toy as the number reached zero.

Red.

It splattered. Encompassing everything near where the man had once stood was a thick crimson liquid. A mangled body laid unmoving and headless.

When the 5 men awoke from their state of shock and stupor, they began typing a report into their tablets.

"AAARRGHH!"

It was another person, as the 5 men looked up, they could only see a glimpse of a lady hunched over before they were just a corpse.

Their fingers typed frantically, the speed increased as they were driven out of fear. Some raised their tablets to take pictures, as they all clicked a final button before placing their tablets away.

One man coughed out blood with a pained expression.

"GET AWAY FROM ME! IT'S ON MY NECK!!"

The other 4 men slowly took steps backwards, their eyes widened considerably as they kept their teary eyes fixed on their comrade.

The man with the device on his neck fell forward, clutching a picture of a man and a woman standing together with a young boy in the middle.

A high pitched beep noise resounded from the man's neck.

Again. A crimson fluid oozing out of a decapitated corpse. The 4 remaining men had their comrades blood splattered onto them.

Was it poison?

The skin that was covered with blood began burning and peeling, the blood of their friend was now eating away at their flesh. Fresh holes covered their faces. Blood gushing out of their bodies before they all dropped to the ground.
