12 Dark Souls: Just 99 small problems left.

"But what about your world, I can't just leave you to watch it end," Drake said concerned for Quella.

"You needn't worry, Sir Drake, to the outside realm we are in stasis, time near frozen. The spacetime god has accelerated the timeline of this world, spurning it for dream energy, but now we are at disaccord with the rest of the cosmos, our time crawls to a stop, waiting for the rest of reality to catch up."

Drake looked confused as he asked. "doesn't that mean that time outside has passed by rapidly while I was here? my world could already be gone!"

"Not exactly, you are an entity independent of this world, your own timeline will correct itself upon leaving, revert to what.... or more accurately when it was before you came here."

Drake was even more confused. None of this made much sense.

As he was swamped in thoughts of timelines, he started to fade away.

Quella, shouted at Drakes now vague form.

"Sir Drake, I don't know exactly how long you've got, but you shouldn't stay too long, use your divinity to leave. Keep moving, and stay safe."

--------------------------------------------------------------

Drake woke up in his pit.

The world had remained in its perpetual dusk state while he slept.

"There's no point worrying about all that now, just like mom used to say, solve a hundred small problems, and you'll find a big one has solved itself," Drake said, always finding solace in his late parent's words.

Feeling refreshed from his nap, he got to work finishing off the rest of his trap.

All that was left to do was create a camouflage tarping to cover the mouth of the pit so that the crystal monster wouldn't just move around it.

He threaded together with some thin branches, a large square mesh, tied together with cordage made from roots, and then placed it atop the ditch.

Finishing it off, he first placed on it, some twigs, then leaves and finally a thin layer of dirt, and with that, it was now completely hidden.

Nearby he stuck his bone spear in the ground, he left his dagger, crossbow, and shield next to it, leaving him with only his Estus and white branch. He didn't want to be bogged down by all the extra weight while running, and especially not when he swam back in the water.

He made his way to the other side of the cemetery, and once more soaking wet, he set his gaze onto the Ravenous Crystal Lizard.

It was imposing as ever, still sitting were Drake saw it before, unmoving.

Drake climbed up the slope he had found when he had first come here to scout the place out and picked up a baseball-sized rock.

He held the stone in his hands and stood at a 90-degree angle from the creature, legs parted he swung his right leg forward, twisting it up and into his chest before kicking it down as he rotated himself to face the Lizard.

His arm snapped like a whip as he released the rock, sending it hurtling through the air.

'Thwack'

The rock bounced off the creature's crystal head.

Drake started climbing up the rest of the slope, not even looking back to see if he was being followed.

The Crystal lizard, with a screech, stood up rolling rapidly towards Drake leaving a trail of frosty spiked crystals in its wake, its momentum was halted by the slope, it stopped before shortly leaping up.

While this happened Drake had made his way to the cliff's edge, running past the protruding rocks, he jumped off diving hands first into the muddy waters below and swam towards the courtyard.

The Lizard followed close behind, swifter than Drake, it was catching up to him. It also took the dive and bound into the water with an almighty crash, the waves hit Drake's back as he pulled himself out of the water, at the entrance to the main courtyard.

"Slow, too bloody slow!" Drake grunted. The beast was catching up to him, he wouldn't have the time to position himself behind the trap before it caught him.

The Lizard hurdled through the water with ease. It was barely slowed by the submerged path, the flooded areas only reaching halfway up its leg.

It was now right behind Drake and soon started to roll again, closing in at an even faster rate.

Drake was now standing right next to the pit, the Lizard a scant few meters behind him, seeing his spear he pulled it out of the earth, "Shit! I will have to risk it," he shouted before jumping onto his own trap.

The fake floor held for a moment before giving way. Drake used this moment to rush across before leaping to the other side of the pit, he fell slightly short his ribs smashing on the pit wall, he was a little winded but held on and started to pull himself up.

Behind him barreled in the beast.

It couldn't stop quick enough and rolled itself straight into the pit. Its momentum harmed it as its tar-black skin was pierced by the many sharp barbed bones that lined the pit's floor it screeched before Cleaving into Drake's exposed hanging leg with a three-pronged scaley claw.

Drake's leg was shredded, blood-splattered out as he kicked off the claw with his other leg, and he climbed out.

The Crystal Lizard tried to pull itself out, clawing at the sides of the pit, but it was weighed down by the tree trunks anchoring it with piercing barbs. It smashed side to side trying to get loose only furthering its injuries.

Drake pulled out his Estus flask, downing it before turning around to face the now trapped Lizard, spear in hand he stabbed at the fleshy parts between its crystal hide, and kept on stabbing till it was dead.
