8 Chapter 8
The next morning Amara, went to university earlier than usual to meet Anaya. There was a lot they had to talk about. Anaya was supposed to meet Ryan for lunch. So, the girls decided to meet for breakfast and talk.
Amara knew she would be supportive of Anaya whatever her choice. But, Amara had strongly wanted to make sure the decision she took was her own and not made due to any pressure or stress.
More often than not she noticed that a few girls were with a few guys because of the pressure they had put on them. She did not want her friend to be one of those people.
The campus for University had been amazing this time of year. Well, during the times that it did not rain. So, the girls grabbed a sandwich and some coffee and went to the garden in front of their building to have a picnic.
Once they got the garden Amara waited for Anaya to tell her story.
Anaya and Ryan had met after Zui Shi's birthday part. Since it was late there were fewer people on the bus back to the city. Most of them being boys, seeing one of her classmates was on the same bus Anaya went and sat next to him.
They had started talking on buses and traveling back together every day. He usually got off the bus 4 stops ahead of her but had recently started getting off at the same stop.
On the days that the classes were shorter, they had gone to visit the city museum and a few new cafes that had opened. Anaya had considered these meetings to be friendly but this seemed to have meant something else to Ryan.
Over the past month, they had been on at least 8 outings/dates and had been texting almost constantly.
After listening to the whole story, Amara asked if Anaya had any feelings or would see Ryan in a role other than that of a friend.
Anaya said that she had not thought about it until last night. However, she felt that Ryan was a genuine and nice guy. Not to mention he was really handsome and rich.
Listening to this Amara understood that her friend was considering Ryan's proposal. But, a month was too short a time to actually know a person. Amara started wondering how she would express this to her.
Right, then Anaya said, What would you say if you were me?
Amara responds saying, I would just ask for some more time. I mean I still have not yet looked at him or hung out with him with the mindset of a relationship. I would ask for time and then decided. But at the moment I would say no. This is if I wanted to consider him.
If not a straight and clear answer would be the best option really.
Anaya just hugged Amara and smiled. The girls finished their breakfast and hurried to class. They were late and the chemistry lecturer was a sucker for weird punishments.
When they reached the class, Mrs. Alice was already teaching. Which only meant one thing, the girls would get some punishment or the other. Shit man.
When the professor noticed the girls enter the class she turned and said, girls since your late. I want you to entertain us with a song and dance performance.
Anaya, you're going to dance while Amara sing. The girls begged her to let them go and give them a more generic punishment. But, she simply did not budge. So, the girls decided to just do it.
