8 A Merry Band

... 1 month later.

Sitting on a sturdy wooden chair within a spacious yet relatively empty well maintained wooden tavern was a person with the lithe frame of a young teen, covered head to toe in a plain brown robe- they seemed to be waiting for someone. Sitting near the entrance, they seemed to be turning their attention to the door every now and again.

At the bar end of the tavern, there were two people dealing with two people each, and handing out what seemed to be monetary compensation for a job well done. On the left wall of the tavern was a large notice board with paper put up with requests both from troubled citizens and even some higher ranking members of the fiefdom- the standard fantasy fare. That's right, this was a Adventurer Tavern.

The idea of going from rags to riches is appealing to many- the potential to ascend up the rankings of an adventurer while helping the people and accumulating fame is an encouraging point as well- that is until overconfident rookies promptly get their ass handed to them. Well, mostly they end up dead rather then just beaten. The idea of adventurers was apparently brought up about by some "summoned heroes" some ages ago. Of course some nerds from another world would choose to be so cliche rather then doing their job and fucking off- but that's neither here nor there.

The occupation of an adventurer doesn't lack its members... though that's mainly for the bottom, ignored tier. There are many adventurers out there to prove their worth, no matter the danger- after all, a life adventure, or lawlessness, or heroism, has its appeal. Some people however don't really have much of a choice...

"Are they seriously not here yet? The note said this would be the time they came... God, what a pain in the ass. On the bright side, I'm glad my growth spurt kicked in within a month- but I'm gonna look like this for a long time. Still better than being just a brat."

These words were mumbled by the robed figure sitting alone- said figure was Sion.

With his concealed draconic figure, his face merely gave off the vibe of a pretty boy in his teenage body rather then a girl like when he looked like a child. After being spirited away by Nolea, he found himself alone in the woods with a letter providing information on where to start on his task- courtesy of the God of Travel. He simply had to join a certain party of newbie adventurers, with their leader having been someone incidentally brought over to this other world- rather then directly brought over like some others, he was actually reincarnated with his memory intact... one of the most annoying types to deal with.

"Well hopefully he won't be too much of a pain in the ass-"

"We're back!"

The clattering open of the door and the boisterous sound of a young man's voice interrupted Sion's train of thought.

**********

(This sucks!)

That's what I first thought when I got hit by truck-san and sent to another world. But as I displayed bits and pieces of my knowledge even as a child, the praise from people around me felt super good! And as I got a bunch of young girls to like me somehow, (despite my nonexistent personality traits due to me spending my time as a NEET previously) I now have the beginning of a harem of young, beautiful girls! I am multi talented in different combat arts, to the point where my job class is as a magic swordsman adventurer- the spitting image of a hero! Currently, this body of mine is 14 years old, and I am overflowing with natural talent and modern day smarts!

Me and my adventurer party of 4- me, the magic swordsman; my tsundere, blonde, long haired and voluptuous for her age cleric childhood friend; the rambunctious, red, short haired catgirl thief I met two days ago; and the dere, green haired, flat-chested and long haired elf archer I met three years ago- have just returned from our first wild wolf hunt quest; we are on top of the world! This is my opportunity to forge a legend of greatness, with my fluffy, happy go lucky RPG another world life! Now I just gotta turn in my quest to the cute receptionist and-

"You're uh... Caleb, yeah?"

Soon after my entrance into the adventurer tavern and my triumphant exclamation, a person a little taller then me clad in a plain brown robe seemed to be looking at me and my party with an expressionless look on their face. They were quite attractive despite the male voice... is this perhaps- the legendary cold attitude trap!?

"Y-yes! Bronze tier adventurer Caleb! Is there something you need?"

That's right, bronze! That's the rank third from the bottom- just above iron, and two ranks above stone. Don't let that be a reason to underestimate me! Usually only people who spent 2-3 years in the adventurer line of work with high results across the board could get that rank- while I got it from my talent and potential being analyzed as outstandingly high! I apparently have the highest talent in the last 100 years of the adventurer association, with the potential of reaching the legendary diamond rank! I'm a pretty big deal, ya know!?

"Uh, yeah. I got a job to help your... merry band. Treat is as a favor or something."

A mysterious, beautiful (guy) teacher!? Can this life get any better!?

**********

"I sorta hope this kid just goes and dies."

That was Sion's first thought when he saw his first job- taking care of this brat so he doesn't immediately die after pissing something off.

"Like seriously, didn't he use to be an adult before reincarnating? Now he's hanging out with a bunch of preteen girls? Was he a sex offender or something? Huh? A NEET? How the hell do people even like him then!?"

Of course, this was all taking place in Sion's mind. Currently, looking down at the merry band before him, he could only lament his bad luck and think two things before having to start his business in helping out these schmucks and other miscellaneous people from another world-

"I really do hate kids."

And-

"I'm so gonna make a mess for these guys even if I have to help them."
