1 The Day I Died

November 2023, London, England

It had been a day like any other, as a young man was walking down the street minding his own business, headphones in his ears as he walked oblivious to the world. People hurried down the street around him each lost in their own little world.

There was nothing really special about him, he was pretty average looking not too ugly but not handsome enough that someone would comment specifically on his looks. He was not rich but neither was he poor, he lived comfortably on his own having moved out of his parents house after leaving University. He had taken a Philosophy degree and had slugged through it but after graduating found that he did not want to follow the path of a philosopher and signed up to join the military.

He served with distinction for a good few years even making it to the rank of Captain in a meteric rise through the ranks before he was set up by a superior officer to take the fall for a botched mission. He had been kicked from the forces and forced back into civilian life in disgrace much to his aggravation. Finding a job had been difficult but he had persevered and managed to get himself a comfortable desk job at a small office. Nothing impressive but he was content enough.

He didn't have a girlfriend, having broken up with his previous one only a few weeks earlier. It hadn't been any problem on either of their parts but they had just drifted apart as some relationships tend to do over time.

All in all despite his military service he was a pretty normal individual. The only thing that set him apart from most people was his love for Anime, Manga and other Fantasy Media.

He loved escaping from his boring and mundane life into fantastical and wonderful worlds where Heroes, Villains, Gods and Demons existed. It had been a hobby of his since he had been a teenager and he had watched and read many different stories from across many different genres.

But one stayed close to his heart:

Fairy Tail.

The stereotypical Shounen show by Hiro Mashima that had gotten him invested in the genre of fantasy and anime in the first place. he had fallen in love with the happy go lucky cast and the warm undertones of the story even as he grew wiser and the world became a darker and darker place.

The show had ended a few years earlier much to his sadness but he had moved on and watched other shows, read other Manga. He was smiling, remembering the times he spent watching the show with his small group of friends as he crossed the road. He looked up and saw a truck barrelling down the road towards him, time seemed to slow down as he caught sight of the widening eyes of the driver through the mirror and he knew almost instinctively that the man wouldn't be able to stop in time.

A million thoughts ran through the man's head as Alex Evans lamented the fact that he was about to die, his entire life flashing in front of his eyes as he prepared himself for the pain of being hit by the truck only it never came, instead he felt something smash him in the head and his whole world went dark.

The surrounding people and the driver of the truck especially were shocked to see a mug of coffee come flying out of the sky and smash the man who had just about to be run over in the head causing him to crumple to the floor in a heap. The Truck Driver didn't know whether to laugh or cry, he hadn't run the man over but he had died anyway. What sought of cursed luck did that guy have!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Far up in the sky sitting on a cloud two white robbed figures, one was tall and seemed to give off an ancient feeling whilst the other was much younger and seemed to radiate a more lively aura. They were both leaning over the fluffy edge of the cloud looking down towards the Mortal World. More specifically they were looking at the corpse of a human male lying in a road.

The smaller figure turned and glared at the other and said in the clear high pitched voice of a young girl. "This is all your fault."

The other figure grumbled and said. "No it isn't, you knocked my mug off this blasted cloud!"

The glare of the younger one seemed to intensify. "I wouldn't have knocked it if you hadn't pushed me!"

The older one seemed to slump slightly at that and begin to grumble to himself about ungrateful youngsters and uppity little princesses causing a tick mark to appear on the head of the younger one as a newspaper appeared in her hand.

With a swing the newspaper had knocked the other over the head bringing him out of his grumbling and causing him to give the female figure a nasty glare.

Putting her hands on her hips she fixed him with a look and said. "Now, don't look at me like that what are we going to do about that poor soul?"

The older one whilst still giving her a petulant glare responded. "He'll just go back into the Cycle of Reincarnation like everyone else whats the issue?"

The female figure let out a long suffering sigh as she said. "He can't you idiot. Did you not see Truck-kun waiting to hit him. He was supposed to die at the hands of Truck-kun and reincarnate as the [Hero of the Shield] but he can't now because of you! Truck-kun is going to be very unhappy now because of you!"

The man stared at her dumbly. "Well then Truck-kun will just have to find some other poor bastard to do that job for him, throw the soul back into the Cycle of Reincarnation."

The woman just stared at him before raising her arms in defeat. "You really are an idiot aren't you? He can't go back into the Cycle, Truck-kun already marked him and pulled him from the Cycle he can't go back in, not to mention this counts as direct action of a Higher Power. We have to take responsibility and send him on to a new world and do Truck-kun's job for him."

The male figure nodded and reached out with his hand pointing downwards, a little white orb only visible to them appearing in his palm. "Alright then, we'll reconstruct his body and send him on to get that Shield."

"You can't Truck-kun has already picked out a new Hero, some poor bastard by the name of Naofumi Iwatani." The women said. "Apparently truck-kun is going to get him by pulling him through a book on Trucks in a Library." She finished brightly.

"Strange way for Truck-kun to go about doing his job, usually he's more direct than that?" The male figure said.

The woman just shrugged. "Apparently he seems to have needed to improvise to get the job done."

"Huh." The male said intelligently before looking down at the Soul. "So what do we do with this guy?"

The female put her finger to her lips as she hummed before snapping her fingers. "You remember that Sage Emperor dude."

"Yeah, he is the strongest being in the TGD Universe what of him?" The male asked with boredom in his tone.

"I don't like him." The girl said.

"I know, I have heard your rants on him before." The male said wondering where his younger companion was going with this.

"Why don't we have this guy take care of him!" She said brightly.

"Won't Ni Li do that for us?" The man asked.

"Maybe, that Creator God in charge of his story refuses to work fast enough, at the rate he is going Ni Li won't defeat him for another thousand years!" The girl ranted.

"Okay, so we make this guy, this Alex Evans kill the Sage Emperor. How, he can't Cultivate, he doesn't know how to Cultivate he is basically a normal human!" The man said before he peered at his companion. "Are you going to give him a System?"

The female scoffed and said with a huff. "You know I can't do that, only Truck-kun can give out Systems."

"Then how are you going to get him to defeat the Sage Emperor?" He wondered.

The female hummed as she picked up the soul held in the hand of her companion, it was the work of an instant for her to read the entire life of the soul held in her hands. As she examined his memories a devilish idea wormed its way into her mind and she let out a maniacal laugh as she got to work manipulating the soul in her hands, changing and shifting it in ways that only an absolute master could do.

"What are you doing?" He asked as he watched her work.

"This guy is a big fan of Fairy Tail, more specifically the [Black Dragon King] so I thought why not send him to TDG with the powers and body of the [Dragon King]!" She said excitedly.

The man gave her a look before huffing and saying. "If you haven't forgotten there isn't any magic in that universe only Soul, Law and Heaven Energy."

The girl felt her eyebrow twitch as she snapped. "I know that, that's why I am adapting his Dragon Slayer Magic to absorb other forms of energy not magic just means he won't have the same ridiculous level of resistance to other forms of energy in the way he does against Magic."

"What about his [Dragon Form]?" The man asked.

She bit her lip. "He'll have that too."

"So rather than a Demon Beast unlocking its Spiritual Wisdom a human becoming a Demon Beast." The man said.

"Something like that yes, though he won't be a Demon Beast he'll be something more." She responded with a manic excitable glint in her eyes.

"Then what of the [Space Between Time] that Acnologia absorbed? Will he have the power contained within that?" The man asked curiously.

She tapped her chin in thought. "Well he did absorb the power of Time and Space from that distortion giving him limited control over those Laws, I think I shall leave them there and force little Alex to comprehend those Laws."

"So he will have the power of the [Black Dragon King}, anything else then?" He said offhandedly, it was meant as sarcasm but the sudden glint in his companion's eyes made him stop and look at her is surprise. "You're not going to give him more are you?"

The grin she gave him was positively unsettling and he didn't dare ask her what she was going to do, that was a road he was far to clever to travel down.

She shrugged the grin never leaving her face. "He interests me, what sort of luck do you have to have to defy the heaven crushing power of Truck-kun by being hit by another strike from the Heavens. I mean what sort of broken luck is that!"

A sheepish look that crossed her face as she rubbed the back of her neck. "That and I feel a little guilty, his death was partially our fault after all."

He sighed and nodded though he did give her a look and said. "You know he is going to be rather errr broken when he arrives, right?" The man said.

She just shrugged. "Isn't that the point, we wan't him to kill the Sage Emperor whats the point in reincarnating him in another Universe just to start from the bottom."

He blinked, turned and looked at her opening his mouth to retort but in the end just closed his mouth and shook his head. "Do as you like."

She gave him a grin before she took a throwing stance and chucked the soul with enough force that it disappeared into a stream of light vanishing from sight as space, time and reality itself twisted around it to accommodate its presence. Snapping her fingers a pen and paper appeared in her hands and she began to write her new *cough* toy/entertainment *cough* a message for when he arrived in his new home.
