Everett loved Lady Josephine too but he knew it wasn't the same. It was less. And his feelings would never be returned. He knew that—he had always known that—but it hit extra hard now that he knew that she had been destined for Duke Francis from the beginning. To the point that even the moon god had gotten involved. 

It was worse knowing that she was aware of his feelings. That was never supposed to happen! He had never said anything for a reason! He hadn't wanted to make her uncomfortable. 

She didn't act like she was uncomfortable though. That didn't make sense either. So many things about this situation didn't, which was why he needed to access that phone. 

Lady Josephine was deeply asleep but he managed to get her phone unlocked by using her finger for the Touch ID he only knew about because she had helped him set his up when he got his phone. He wasn't sure where exactly to start looking but the website where the comic was seemed like his best bet.
