1 Chapter 1

#1) Mad Hatter

Somewhere in a small cottage surrounded by a forest laid a certain Mad Hatter. Knocks came form his door as a pair of ocean blue eyes greeted the ceiling. "Hmm?" He swiped his blonde hair to the side before clothes appeared on him, he quickly adjusted his top hat as he got out of bed reluctantly. His steps echoes on the cold wooden floor as the door approached closer.

Sarah Gracefield, a noble sent by the Royal Academy to recruit the legendary Mad Hatter as a teacher. Yep, they want to pull someone who was a legend in a bed time story as a teacher. Her breathing was hitched as she knocked on the door three times. Each knock was gentle yet to her, they were loud and overbearing.

Madness, that was the only way to describe this place. Everything was completely wrong, the surrounding areas where wrong. She almost died getting here, what type of pig breathes fire at people? What type of tree laughs at you with weird smiles? How do you even stray from a straight path?

Wrong, wrong, wrong. This place was the definition of madness. The footsteps echoed louder as she tried to calm her beating heart. The footsteps eventually stopped as she heard the doorknob rattle. A sound of a door opening was heard yet the door never opened.

A hand found itself on her shoulder as she yelped before turning around to spot a young blonde haired man wearing a black top hat adorned with a striped top hat band. The top hat was adorned with a small clock, a feather, a few playing cards and strangely enough a tea pot.

The man sported a steampunk style dirty purple coloured suit with a white striped long sleeved shirt adorned with a gold cravat die decorated with purple diamonds. In his hand was a gold and white tea cup.

"Morning." He took a sip as Sarah was immensely confused. "What? How?" Mad Hatter chuckled "Don't think about it, it'll only hurt your brain more." He smiled before they quickly found themselves at a table without any warning.

"So what is the daughter of the noble Gracefield house doing here?"

She took a sip of the tea before placing a letter on the table. "Will you become a teacher at the Royal Academy?" Mad Hatter looked at her with a serious look before bouncing straight up with a smile as the chair disappeared "Of course not! Why would I become a teacher?"

Sarah sighed as her mother had prepared a case like this. "My mother has a message for you. We have fruit tea." Mad Hatter widened his eyes as they sparkled in the sunlight. "Fruit tea huh? Very well."

Sarah smiled "The details are all here in the envelope. We'll be expecting to see you soon." With that she left.

Mad Hatter laughed when one of the birds told him that she only got out of the forest three days after. "Chaos makes the world go around. Chaos creates a happy town. Chaos and Madness spin round and round. Chaos is in everyone!" With that he spun around as he closed his eyes. The world seemed to spin with him as soon enough he opened his eyes to see the house gone and a small miniature model on his palm.

He chuckled as he stored it away in his pocket before the surrounding places withered and died. The happy atmosphere plummeted as he hummed the small tune to his walk.

A group of students waited inside the classroom staring at the blackboard as if the teacher would appear from within. To be fair they had the right to be this scared, they had just been told that their new teacher was the legendary Mad Hatter from the bed time stories.

Their ears twitched as footsteps could be heard coming closer to the door. They eagerly waited for the legendary Mad Hatter. Nothing happened until the roof above collapsed and a figure fell down onto the floor with a thud.

"Ow." The dust slowly faded out to reveal a young man whom everyone instinctively knew who he was, Mad Hatter. His description matched the stories perfectly though one had to wonder how the items on his hat stayed on.

Soon enough the damage disappeared all together along with his injuries. "Alright starting today I'll be your new teacher. You'll be studying by yourself unless you have any questions." His eyes drooped even further as he tilted his head down to let the teapot pour more tea into his teacup.

"I need my tea."

With that the class watched as the supposed legendary Mad Hatter plopped himself on the seat before sipping his tea slowly. The whole class was confused as he didn't even give instructions on what to do.

A girl raised her hand as she asked "Mr..." "Hatter, just call me Mr.Hatter" The girl nodded as she continued her question "Mr. Hatter, you haven't given us instructions on what to study." Mad Hatter tilted his head in confusion "Did I not? I'm pretty sure I've already written the instructions on the blackboard."

Mad Hatter looked at the whole class before categorising them into different personalities. Immediately he knew the stuck up know-it-all boy was going to argue. "What do you mean-" He stopped when the whole class stared at the blackboard.

"What the?"

They were all staring at the chalk words that were present on the board.

"We didn't even see him move..."

"No he didn't move. I'm sure of it."

The whole class was in an uproar after seeing what had happened. Mad Hatter smiled after seeing the whole class confused. He loved confusion, humans are very vulnerable when confused. It was amusing.

Mad Hatter decided to at least do his job a bit. "Does anyone have any ideas on what happened?"

His words taunted them as they were visibly confused.

This was the start of them learning the character, Mad Hatter.
