45 Crispy Cream Chicken Parcels

Translator: Yunyi

"Yinyin, you don't like it?" Xu Yimo asked carefully as he looked at the speechless Li Weiyin with his big eyes.

"No, I simply think that you have a really good relationship with your brothers," Li Weiyin said as she reminded herself in secret that the mature-looking man in front of her had the intellect of an 8-year-old. She couldn't compare his behavior to that of an average adult male.

"Are you hungry? I'm a little hungry," Li Weiyin changed the subject.

"Yinyin's hungry? I'll ask Uncle Ding to bring you lunch," Xu Yimo said as he raised his wrist. On his wrist, he was wearing a fitness watch that could be used to make phone calls.

"No need. I can cook," Li Weiyin stopped him.

Xu Yimo's attractive face immediately lit up with excitement, "You know how to cook, Yinyin? What are you cooking for me? I'm not a picky eater. I eat anything!"

Li Weiyin pressed her lips together and smiled as she held his hand and walked downstairs to the large kitchen. The kitchen had an island in the middle, and there was plenty of working space on the benches. From the looks of it, it could easily accommodate 5 chefs at the same time without feeling crammed.

But, the most striking feature for Li Weiyin was the wide refrigerator which looked like two french-door refrigerators combined. She opened it up; it was spacious and fully stocked with all the necessary ingredients. Li Weiyin had a look and discovered everything was really fresh and likely bought that morning.

"Yimo, do you like sweet, spicy, or plain-flavored food?" Li Weiyin asked as she grabbed some ingredients from the refrigerator.

"I like sweet!" Xu Yimo said in embarrassment as he scratched the back of his head. When he smiled, he did not look intellectually disabled at all. His long, narrow eyes were curved into two crescent moons and he looked so adorable that Li Weiyin wanted to squeeze his cheeks. "I also like fragrant food."

Fragrant and sweet. Li Weiyin scanned her eyes across the ingredients. In that case, she was making crispy cream chicken parcels.

"Go get me an apron," Li Weiyin instructed as she tied up her long wispy hair.

Xu Yimo acted quickly as he grabbed a white disposable apron. From the looks of it, they did not have a domestic helper.

Li Weiyin quickly put the apron on and began to prepare the dish as Xu Yimo leaned in. "Yinyin, I know how to pick, wash, and cut vegetables!"

"OK, in that case, clean and wash these," Li Weiyin assigned the ginger, onion, and garlic to Xu Yimo.

Xu Yimo happily took the ingredients to the sink.

For the main dish, she was preparing a plate of crispy cream chicken parcels. In addition to that, she was making stir-fried shrimp, braised bamboo shoots, and a mint egg soup.

After preparing all the necessary ingredients, Li Weiyin looked through all the available spices.

The main dish was the most important. First, she mixed some flour with egg whites and added some frozen lard to create a batter. She then placed it into the refrigerator for later use.

After that, she diced some chicken breast finely until they resembled grains of rice, added some egg whites, dry starch, and salt, and mixed it well. Meanwhile, she heated some pork lard on medium heat, sautéed the chicken quickly, and drained it.

Leaving roughly 15ml of oil in the wok, she threw the chicken back in and lightly stir-fried it before adding some Shaoxing wine. After a quick toss, she poured the chicken into a plate.

She then placed a clean wok on low heat, added some pork lard, dry starch, and flour. As she did this, the other hand continuously tossed the ingredients to ensure they were evenly distributed.

Slowly, she poured in some milk and water, stirred it well, added salt and sugar, and continued stirring until it became creamy. Coating a dish with oil, she poured half the cream into it, sprinkled the chicken on top, and covered it with the rest of the cream.

After leaving it to cool, she cut it into roughly 20g oblong pieces, wrapped them in glutinous rice paper, and rolled them in some dry starch.
