17 Chapter 17

Jest was probably right. It would be stupid to drive now, tired and with too many questions and uncertainties buzzing around in his mind. He’d been lucky not to have an accident Friday night or Saturday morning.

He found the room surprisingly clean and the TV, a new flat screen model, worked just fine. This would do for now. There was even a diner-style café across the street.

Tomorrow would be soon enough to chart his course. He recognized he had a lot to think about and maybe it was past time to assess where he was and where he wanted to go. He’d held one goal for almost ten years and he’d definitely reached it. Without a new one, what could he do except flounder and lose his hard-won momentum? Even a rocket only soared so high and when it lost power, there was just one way to go. Going down to crash and burn didn’t seem like the best option he could find.
