12 Chapter 12

“Hey, not to worry. They’re very easygoing. I’ve never seen Tom or Stormy be rude or fail to make any visitor welcome. They’re just genuine nice folks. Not sure who else will be here except Stormy’s girls and her mom. They’re great, too. The kids are a hoot and so’s Grandma. Probably most of the band will show up sooner or later.”

Greene’s heart was in his throat as they approached the wide doors into the house from the patio. Once inside, he skidded to a halt as two strawberry blonde girls, maybe nine and twelve or so, came running up to grab Jest. He laughed and swung the smaller one in a circle, chattering some kind of nonsense that seemed to be a running joke.

The tall, redheaded singer chided the kids and then turned her attention to Greene. She glanced at Jest and then back at him.

“You were at the club last night, sitting there at the corner of the stage. Are you an old friend of Jest’s?”
