7 Cornered by Death

Inside underground shelter at midnight...

"Hmm, what did you say? That the radar spotted high-level life forms?"

"Yes sir, I was just wondering what we should do... should we warn the evac team outside?"

"Are you stupid? What will that do? Just proceed to open the doors and call in a new evac team since I doubt the one outside will survive; what a shame."

Moris thought as he remembered the two bodies of those beauties and how they would probably be mangled by the time the doors were opened.

On the other hand, the half-noble assistant stood there, stupefied for being so blatantly called stupid. What made it worse was that he couldn't see what was wrong with his suggestion of trying to save some lives. But thinking a little harder and colder, he found the reason. What would warning them do?

The suicide team can't run away. They can't fight back. Telling them would just wake them from their sleep only to wait for death.

'Well, at least this way, they can sleep a little longer right?'

The assistant thought, not really minding the death of those dispensables.

"Have the research results been collected and stored. What about the evidence?"

"Oh-yes, sir. All evidence is destroyed, and the results and achievements have all been compiled."

Their team has been placed here to develop high-level spells regarding cloning. The results were proven fruitful, albeit only on standard humans without any spiritual essence. But if they could find an evolved with a high-grade skill before they mature, then they could make an army of super soldiers. And with the same innate skill, it would be easier to train them.

Innate skills were special powers that are passed down through the bloodline of powerful beings. They also act as the catalyst and source of talent for all people. Having an A-class skill means that, besides being powerful, you would most likely be able to advance to be a Rank-A being. That is the exalted Divine rank in the human kingdom or also known as the immortality stage.

Granted that technically you could also reach the divine stage without any innate skills, but just that it is unheard of and rare unless they make their own innate skill.

The world is filled with spiritual essence, or essence for short, that lets all beings become stronger and advance. Innate skills just act as a filter or purifier that makes this a lot easier, with every level up in power, strength, and life span increase as well.

Also, just for reference, an innate fire skill will always be more potent than a fire spell of the same level. And spells aren't flexible.

Spells can be performed by anyone so long as they have the right comprehension and enough essence. The world is mostly run by spells with innate skills being used as trump cards for most.

Your average warrior without the wealth to afford spells would just fight with cold or hot weapons and their superior bodies.

This was common as the majority weren't allowed privy into such things.

A couple of hours later...

The same assistant came running towards the still asleep Moris. He was currently naked in bed with a half-noble woman with good looks, although not nearly as good as Lucy and Linda.

"Umm, sir, we have a problem."

The assistant tried to wake him without incurring his anger.

"Huh, what is it?" Moris replied sleepily.

"The team outside are right outside the door-"

"So what? Our walls are made to resist C-grade attacks. There are only D-class elites at best. Stop worrying"

He was somewhat angry that he was woken up for such a reason, but when looking at the naked beauty next to him, he felt like going for round two. And right as he was about to...

"But the cameras shows that they are demonized!" The assistant semi-squealed.

Hearing this, Moris immediately fell limp. Demonized. They a terrifying race with power exceeding their level, even compared to beasts. Worst was that any being could become demonized, even mythical beast. Just imagine a demonized dragon or phoenix!

Demonized are crazed but cunning. Strong yet fast. Most importantly is their innate talent, destruction. It's considered an A-Class talent at a minimum. Minimum! It was said in legend that there had been mutations of SSS-Class demonized in history... god-level skill and strength.

The only good thing about demonized is that they don't have high intelligence because they are always in crazed state and that they reproduce slowly, making them rare. All major demonized groups have long been teamed up against by the other races in a gang-style ass whooping.

The group that suffered the least was the beast since they had the highest number and among the strongest vitality to resist the demonizing infection. With that, they undisputably ruled everything from the skies to seas.

That was until the nobles came, and humans made alliances once again and gained enough of a foothold to defend themselves. But whether thing are better with them in control or not is hard to say...

"Tell them to go away! What are they even doing? Don't they know that we can't even open the doors yet?!"

Panic and fear were written all over Moris' face as he threw the naked beauty to the floor and ordered everyone to wake up and get geared up.

The fight outside was already being displayed outside, and the team won't even be able to hold on for a minute it seemed.

He instructed everyone to gather and set up a defensive formation while gathering their new spell and all other valuables together.

Currently, nobles were gathering and looking at the screen to see the situation outside. All they could see is that fear in humans as they valiantly try to fight back while also realizing the strength of the demonized.

Just as everyone was still gathering around the monitors that were in the back, an assistant noticed that one of the elites demonized was charging with great power towards one of the men in front of the metal gate. Covering its claws was a thick layer of destruction essence.

"Screech!"

Knowing what was coming, a loud bang followed by a piercing screech was heard. Everyone looked to the now half-a-meter wide and tall hole in the gate that was still being slowly eroded by destruction.

Then a man came in running, followed by three others.

"Get inside! Protect the doctor, Dave!" A yell comes from outside.

As if feeling something irresistible, Dave goes towards the group of nobles and half-nobles as he 'protects them.'

Yet when he turns to the demonized that doesn't want to let him off as it chased after him, and the destruction power covering its claws...

"Rah!"

The beast charges towards the group, or more accurately towards Dave.

'I don't want to die! Screw these nobles!'

Without thinking twice, Dave's pudgy body dodged to the side while the power of destruction was rapidly encroaching the nobles group.

"Bang!"

"Stsss!"

The nobles had protective equipment that kept them safe, but all around them, the technology, flooring, and even roof were completely lacerated with destructive mini-flares. The lab was wrecked, with demonic sparks going off all around them.

Seeing this, the nobles felt despair as they immodestly started to attack the demonized without holding back, which caught the demonized off guard and heavily injured it.

But instead of retreating, it just looked at the group with a crazed stare as it was getting ready for another charge. While this was happening, most of the demonized had already ran inside and went to back up their kind.

The nobles were terrified.

When Lucy saw that the electronics were down, she immediately informed Jay as per ordered, hoping that they can make it out of this devil's dance alive.
