Don't Do Anything Stupid

Elena sat in front of the car as Jorge drove to Peter's house. The car was quiet as they both didn't say a word to each other and Jorge had refused to turn on the radio.

"So, what exactly is in this flash drive that I'm expected to steal?'' Elena asked Jorge, breaking the silence. Jorge threw her a glance that said it was none of her business and he went back to concentrating on the road.

Elena took a deep breath, not wanting to give up she said, "I need to know the risks involved, so I can know what I'm getting myself into." Jorge didn't respond.

Elena huffed in annoyance as she leaned back on her seat, the guy was just as annoying as his useless boss and they were both beginning to get under her skin.

After they had driven for a while, she said, "I'm going to be needing some costumes."

Jorge looked at her this time with a surprised look on his face, "what the hell do you need a costume for?"

"For disguise?" Elena said, giving him an obvious look.

Jorge scoffed at her response, "you don't need no damn costume, this is no costume party. All you just have to do is go in there, find the flash drive, get it and get out of there."

"Since you make it sound so easy, why aren't you doing it yourself?" Elena spat.

"The boss asked you to do it, and you are going to do it, else you would have to face the consequences," Jorge said in a threatening tone.

Not being deterred by his threats, Elena leaned toward Jorge and said, "then, call your boss and tell him that if I don't get the things that I need, I'm not doing it!"

Jorge gave her a glance before bringing out his phone to dial Lorenzo's number. This was one of the reasons he disliked working with women; he felt they always complicated things. He still doesn't understand why his boss insists on giving this girl such an important job.

Elena watched as Jorge spoke on the phone for a few seconds, and when he was done, she asked, "so?"

"What do you need?" Jorge asked, his tone cold. He couldn't believe Lorenzo agreed to the girl getting a costume.

A small smile curved up Elena's lips, "let's make a stop at the nearest boutique." she heard Jorge grumble about something under his breath, but she didn't care as she started to map out the things that she was going to be needing.

When they got to the boutique, Jorge came down and followed her inside. "Get whatever it is that you need and be fast about it, we don't have time to waste. You have two hours to get this done, and the clock is already ticking."

Elena scoffed at him as she walked up to the clothing section of the boutique, she picked up black trousers and a brown long sleeve top. Then she went to the cosmetic section and picked up some make-up items. She bought a wig and some gloves. Jorge paid for the items, and when she turned to go to the changing room, Jorge was still following her.

"What?! Do you want to come with me to the changing room as well?" Elena demanded.

"Be quick about it, and don't think of doing anything stupid," Jorge warned before allowing her to go into the changing room by herself.

After Elena finished changing into the clothes she picked, she thought of running away through the back door, but she remembered Lorenzo's words to her if she tried to run away, he was going to find her sister and kill her. Elena didn't know anything about Lorenzo, but she knew he was dangerous. And he was going to hurt Ruby if she tried to run away.

Elena sat down in a chair that was in the changing room and began to cry. What has she gotten herself into? All she wanted was to provide food for her sister and pay their bills, and now she was about to get the both of them killed.

A knock on the changing room door made her quickly stop crying, cleaning her tears she went and cracked the door open, peering out her head.

"We need to leave," Jorge said to her.

"Give me ten minutes," Elena said.

"You have five, and after that, I will come in there and drag you out myself."

Elena hissed as she shut the door in Jorge's face.

Elena was unrecognizable by the time she finished applying the heavy make-up to her face and put on the red wig. When she walked out the door, Jorge was shocked as well, he almost thought she was someone else. With the look on Jorge's face, she knew she had done a good job in disguising herself.

"I hope we aren't making another stop?" Jorge asked her as he drove out of the boutique's parking lot.

"No," Elena said, looking out the window, silently praying that she would be able to pull this off and be allowed to leave. She would never steal again after this; she would have to find another means of survival for her and her sister.

"Is this the place?" Elena asked as they stopped in front of an apartment.

"It's the apartment with the green roof," Jorge said, pointing to the apartment that was two blocks away from where they parked.

"You remember what you are supposed to do right?" Jorge asked her.

Elena slowly nodded in response as she scanned the area with her eyes and she wore her gloves, she didn't want to leave any fingerprints in Peter's house so nothing could be traced back to her.

"You might not know who Lorenzo is, but for your own good, I would advise that you don't do anything stupid because he won't hesitate to wipe you out!" Jorge advised Elena before she got down from the car.
