1 Ah Sh*t

"SHIT SHIT SHIT!" shouted Daniel as his car proceeded to swerve on the wet road and crash into an oncoming semi. 15 minutes later an ambulance showed up, trying to stabilize the man now about 10 feet from his car they noticed shards of glass all over his arms and legs.

"Well this doesn't look good." says the first responder as he wrapped up some bad looking wounds seemingly going a little bit into the bone. He had to change the bandages twice before the blood finally stopped flowing out of the cloth, although he guessed that it will needed to be changed in a little while. At this point they put him on the stretcher and take him to the hospital.

When waking up Daniel had a splitting headache. When trying to grab his head Daniel didn't feel anything. He looks over to where his arm should be and all he sees is bandages. After checking the rest out he is also missing his shin on his right leg. 'Damnit' Daniel thought with a tear. A while later a nurse came in.

"Hi there, do you remember what happened?" she inquired.

"All I remember is my car swerving and pain" Daniel replied back.

"They found you passed out so I guess it makes sense." she said after checking on the bandages. After making sure the IV was secured and filled she left with a goodbye. Daniel then laid there and contemplated what he would do now. 'The bill is going to be a bitch to pay off especially when rent is already pushing my budget' he thought as he tried to sit up. After falling once or twice he finally sat up and with a sigh he laid back down and went to sleep.

Waking up he checked the clock and it looked like we was asleep for about 3 hours. He felt like he was starving. Noticing the call button for the nurse, he reached to press it. remembering that he is one arm short he uses his left hand and calls for the nurse. She was in about a minute later.

"Your finally up, you were out for a while. I bet your hungry." she said After once again making sure everything was secure.

"It was only 3 hours. I am hungry though whats available?" Daniel retorted as he tried to ease the pain from the nurse passing against his stumps.

"Nope, and dinner today is potato soup with a roll and a bit of celery." the nurse says as she shows him her phone showing that it's in fact October 27th and not the 26th.

"Wow I always saw stuff talking about sleeping a while day away but never thought it possible" Daniel said as the nurse was leaving. Just like that 3 weeks passed in the hospital.

Tuesday November 17th, Daniel was finally discharged from the hospital. Walking out with a Crutch because he couldn't afford a prosthetic, Daniel took a breath of the morning air. He first went back to his apartment, thankfully they gave him a pass on not paying this months rent but would still pressure him into paying it sooner or later. He walked in and sat down, remembering his work wasn't so generous about his accident. he figured he would need to look for a new job. He figured he should start looking, but only after getting a snack, after noticing that some stuff was spoiled, he decided to just have some crackers, even though they were a bit stale.

Setting off to go look for places where he commonly saw job offers, he noticed that there were none. 'Okay' he thought 'I'll just look online then.' going home and opening up his laptop he noticed it didn't have power so he had to wait a bit for it to charge. When that was done though he went to looking, it was a bit awkward typing with only one hand but he had to make do. Booking some of the easier jobs he could find he turned the laptop off and went to bed.

Waking up the next morning, he dressed up and went out to his first interview. It went ok but he saw the constant side glacnes at his stumpy arm and leg. While leaving, he wasn't confident of getting the job but he had multiple interviews so his luck couldn't be that bad. The week went on and not one of his possible employers called back. He knew why too, why would anyone want someone like him missing an arm and a leg when there are people in better condition. Now he was atop his 25 story apartment building sitting on the edge. His eyes glazed over as he heard murmuring. A young woman and man came from behind the AC unit for the better houses at the top. They looked to be about in high school maybe college. He didn't know how but he could feel the young man's eyes linger on him.

"Need a hand?" the man laughed and the woman followed suit. Eventually they left after about another minute of making jokes about Daniel's missing hand. Daniel even laughed at some of the jokes. After they left though he stood up, looked down, and leaned forward entering a free fall. It was about 1 maybe 2 seconds before everything went black.

After a bit though, he felt grass or maybe it was leaves, either way it wasn't what he expected. He enjoyed the sensation 'Maybe this is what death feels like' he thought as he rustled about trying to almost melt into the grass. He hear a rustle not to far from him and as he finally opened his eyes he saw what looked like a massive forest. The trees were about half the size of redwoods. and had a a weird tan colored bark. He looked over towards were he say the rustling and after finding the bush which it seems like the sound came from. A 6 legged fox ran out 'If its 6 legged then its not a fox' he thought and he wanted to see how it would react to him getting closer. He started to stand up but then realized he had two arms and two legs to boot! What was with his skin color though. 'Grey skin?' he thought. Then the fox runs off and something bigger takes its place, the mystical griffon.

'Ah Shit' he thought as the griffon locked eyes with him.
