1 C. One: Insomnia

Uncountable indescribable, disastrous phenomenons have stirred up and ultimately shifted the universe, and every single occurrence connected to the soul with "the black mask", Dak Demoa Jasper.

Undisputedly questioning his motives for hours, the immature outlander looked afar upon the river bank of his hometown. "This way seems more interesting." He told his best buddy, Andre. Andre would always join along with him for these daring, hunger-filling quests. The tandem seemed unstoppable at times, both having deep similarities, however, their polarity guided them together and made them more well rounded and complete. The two would venture deep into the perilous environments, lacking the simple information about their own age, this inseparable duo wreaked misfortune to people unintentionally, but those events were far after these that took place.

It was a late, sun setting day, around the time of sleep in this town. Cliya,'d, having no neighboring towns, was one of the most unknown but uniquely built cities in the U.S. The tourist scenery was spot on, but no one really gave any effort to come and gaze at the naturally designed beauty of the mountain terrain, consisting of diverse grasses and blooming flowers, even if winter swallowed the town, which made it a more quirky atmosphere. During this crisp autumn evening, Dak and Andre spent most of their time exploring the soon to be emergent, country styled municipal.

After several hours pass by, the orphaned dyad were caught jumping on tree stomps near an undisclosed body of water. A rather large lieutenant by the name of Yilly Walker built a human barricade between the two. "This stops here young men." Walker shouted while staring back and forth between them. "We're fine, uh, officer?" Andre muttered. Dak gazed toward Andre with a smile on his face. "Well, you'll see if I'm really an officer when I arrest you two!!" "But we didn't kill anyone." Dak yelped joyfully, which made the lieutenant surmise the laughing kids. "That was a little too much" , Andre said while grabbing a withering stick from the leaf littered ground. Suddenly, he starts to peel the stick's wood and throw it at Walker. "Ahh, I see. You guys are just having fun, but it's getting a little late youngsters. I'm taking y'all back up this here stream." Walker alerted them while shoving his hands on their backs. Dak shifted his motion and grabbed the lieutenant's coat sleeve and yanked it with great force. "I'm staying here, and Andre too." "Uhhhh...", Dak's P.I.C. mumbled under his big lips. "Nine o'clock youngsters, there shouldn't be any one near this damn river, it's prohibited for many reasons, understand?" Yilly asserted in Dak's chubby face. His smiles suddenly became frowns, as he and Andre were forced to leave the restricted area.

The night quickly came, and the bright moon confusingly looked dim in Dak's green eyes. "Werewolves!" He shouted while pointing his chubby fingers up at the Earths's companion. Andre was too busy occupied by an MP3 player he borrowed from the dark, tall lieutenant. "You youngsters don't seem like y'all get along to me, y'all seem distant." He spoke while gazing at the cloudy sky walking with tight grips on the boys' small hands. The two muttered no words. They simultaneously looked at Walker, and proceeded to give soft smiles at him. "Not the usual youngsters, eh." he thought to himself. He then gave somewhat of a smile in return, and continued to walk towards the orphanage.

Large landaus were creeping by, with one halting very closely to the guys. A head rose from the shadow submerged carriage, with a large rod ascending. Blonde hair began to flurry, and the lieutenant's eyes expanded, like he experienced a medieval ghost. "Woah." He shockingly uttered. Deep fog arbitrarily surrounded the area, causing Dak and Andre to grow nervous. "What's happening?", Dak asked the lieutenant, astounded himself, towering over the two kids. "Don't know my damn self, kiddo." He responded, which made Dak seek protection behind Walker's lengthy legs. A skull held by a glove protected hand appeared from the carriage, leaving the three completely froze and befuddled. The skull abruptly shattered in the large hand, causing the lieutenant to reach for his weapon. The horse neighed, leaned back, kicked the murky atmosphere and rode off ferociously into the darkness of the undisclosed grounds. "Wha-"Dak attempted to mutter, and before he knew it he and Andre were swooped up by the lieutenant, running at full speed. "It's too dangerous for y'all youngsters, I told ya!", the lieutenant shouted with anger as he made his way into the closing orphanage doors.

No words escaped Andre's lips through these events, all he had for show was a straight face. He stared as if that was his skull broken during the mysterious event. The doors were still open just in time, and the lieutenant forcibly sat the two down on the empty bench inside of the orphanage. He ran towards the front office, where a young, blonde haired woman had a distorted facial expression on her face. "What happened to you guys", she asked the kids, who were sitting in awe. "A damn incident outside of this here building, lady." the lieutenant responded, worrying something threatening was lurking. "Let's get the kids to their rooms, I'll be with you in just a sec", she quickly answered. The woman bent down and looked at the adolescent children in there dilated eyes and asked, "The two of you are very, very late. You missed dinner." Both Andre and Dak sat in reticence. "Are you all ok? Did he hurt you two in any way?" The duo did not bother to reply, but instead gazed at each other for a few seconds, stood up and began to walk towards the stairs. "Hm.", she mumbled while staring at the strolling orphans. Lieutenant Walker grabbed her shoulder and stated "Let me get to explainin'." The lieutenant poured out everything about the incident. "This between you and me, ya understand?" , the lieutenant assertively asked. "Yes, sir.", she unhesitatingly answered.

As the two boys were ascending up the flight of stairs to their rooms, Dak glared at the large cross which sat on the hole-filled, white painted wall, which was next to a poster saying "God Is THE Number One!", with a Christian cross-covered thumb. He thought to himself how the world would be better if God could be seen by His people. "Why is He hiding?", Dak mumbled. "He is a representation of everyone, good or bad." Andre responded to Dak's statement. The sweater wearing Philippino looked down at his torn up bright green socks. "Guess it's time for the blue ones", he told Andre while smiling. The blue eyed Black child seemed to have zero interest in what he said, having no response at all. "How you feeling?", Dak asked as they reached the top of the stairs. "Decent.", he responded, still bearing the peeling driftwood he stored in his back pocket.

The two met their destination, exchanged good nights, and went there different ways, only being separated by the night doors. Dak, still confused at the spontaneous event that occurred, descended his head, leaving his dark brown, auburn and sand red hairs hovering in front of his pulsating eyes. On the other hand, Andre continued to stroll slowly, reminiscing about the event himself, but not as deeply as his partner. Being at so young of an age, that occurrence would leave a stain in their developing minds. The uplifting wooden floors began to creak as the two orphans made their way to the rooms. Suddenly, the blonde haired woman yelled from the bottom of the stairs "Hurry to bed you two, we're gonna be busy the whole day!"

As soon as he got to his room, Andre began to measure his dose of pain pills before he closed his eyes. "Daily ritual begins..." The bottle cap was misplaced, meaning someone put their hands on it, leading Andre to stare over at his newly acquired roomy, by the name of Terrence Law. Law was fast asleep like a big baby, snoring with a gaping, drooling mouth. "Ugh, guess I'll skip tonight." Andre put on his night cap and drifted off to slumber, with no hesitation. A few hours pass by, and his rest was disrupted by nightmare breakouts, which almost drove him crazy. Yelling wasn't a very good solution, because Terrence was out like a light. Deep wails escaped his throat rapidly, and immediately after he stopped, a quick beam of light struck into his eyes, flowing his mind and body with bolts of surges. The pain was numb, so Andre did not let out any words or screams. Feeling paralyzed, he gazed upon the cracked ceiling and muttered, "Death."

Dak, not perceiving any of the tragic events that happened, rolled off of his three-mattress stacked bed, which made a loud thumping noise on the wooden floors. The bump caused him to open his eyes and quickly gasp as a reaction. "Ooowwweeee", he yelled while ascending from the bug infested wood, reaching for the light switch in the pitch dark. As he made his way towards the door, throbbing motions swallowed his head, with deep voices entering simultaneously. The feelings weren't deep to affect his decision making, so he didn't bother to think about it. Huge crackling sounds caught his attention from outside of the half cracked door, which caused Dak to react and peek his green eyes through the side. "Life", whispering effect sprouted from the outside. Dak unhesitatingly shut his door tight, which unfortunately had no lock on it. Almost slipping on shriveled papers, Dak made it to his sloppy bed and flopped with panic in his eyes. He threw the cover over his head and lied down, almost bringing him back to slumber, but also fighting the paranoia casted a few seconds ago. "LIFE" The louder, asserting sounds engulfed Dak's thoughts. "AAAAAAHHHHH", he screamed from the top of his ribs, but nothing escaped the rims of his lips, which brimmed the adolescent boy with fear.

Dak's hope for a rest filled night dwindled, and he accepted his insomnia. He didn't want to engage in rushing downstairs to the blonde haired lady's bedroom and interrupt her counting sheep, so he settled for a lone experience of indisposition.
