7 The Final Step

"Uncle, is this necessary?"

"Of course. This would be the final step. Before your body can absorb heavenly energies, it must grow its own 'core'."

Inside the lil' one's room, he was lying flat face first on his bed. His upper body was bare and you could see the small muscles built up from all training he put up with. Together with Xan and Ayra, we were readying for the final step. The transferring of one's own core to another. This was something absurd as this was never been done before but that didn't stop this crazy old man from going through with it. All the preparations were done. The boy had been soaking in that medicinal bath allowing his body to not only grow stronger but also change. It was changed to accommodate my core. This was why a lot of blood essence was needed for the process. The recipient must be intimate with the donor's core allowing the recipient's body not to be rejected by the core. If any missteps occurred, the core would self-destruct causing harm inside the recipient's body. This was why we were going to destroy my foundation along with my life's worth of cultivation. Doing this allowed the energy feedback from the self-destruct be contained using the two's powerful strength.

"Ayra, activate the array. Xan, be prepared of any mishaps."

Grave expressions were made as silence permeated the atmosphere. Ayra touched one of the sigils on the floor promptly activating the array.

"Hm? Uncle? Why.. do.. I..."

Drowsiness befell upon the lil' one as he soon had entered deep slumber.

"We're going to start. Xan, do it."

I gave him a look of approval before turning my back towards him. Soon, a sudden wave of force coursed through my body removing all of my foundation. Weakness surged as my body gave out. If I wasn't being held by Xan right now, I would've been lying on the floor. Horrible coughs soon sounded as I splat out a few mouthful of blood. I made a lot noise with my wheezing but I could not fall right now. The final step had to be done. Just the amount of spirit stones used for the array had cost a fortune and we could not delay it any further. Right now, the place was devoid of any heavenly energies and the space had been sealed creating vacuum making it opportune to remove the core allowing it not be tainted with any outside force. With a great oomph, I forced out my core. Soon a dim-lit orb of mass floated off my mouth and flying towards the lil' one. With severity in my eyes, I resolutely severed my connection with the core. More blood splattered on the floor as uncontrollable coughing came out.

"Xan..."

Without letting me finish, Xan already had made his move. He slowly pushed his palm as a gentle wave of energy encapsulated the core. With a thought, Xan directed the core towards the lil' one's back before it slowly submerged the skin thoroughly dissolving as though it had never existed before. Ayra, approached the lil' one and probed the inside of his body.

"It's done. Nothing seems wrong. The core should be stable enough to sustain itself in his body."

Ease came as smiles were present amongst us. Loosening up made me feel dizziness as the remaining strength in my body soon collapsed making me blacked out.
