The Prisoner

ALICE WOKE UP the next morning feeling like there was something weighing her down. For a second, she thought that the feeling was awfully familiar, as though she had felt the very same sensation before. However, she couldn't exactly pinpoint where or when it was exactly that made her feel this way.

Just when she was to account it to deja vu, she opened her eyes slowly, blinking as they adjusted to the brightness of the morning sunlight. Instantly, she was greeted by a handsome face just inches away from her own.

She jolted backward, surprised, initially. Then, her mind slowly started working again, the cogs starting to turn after they had laid waste for the entire night. Alice couldn't even remember how she had fallen asleep last night, much less how was it that Spade would be in the same bed as her. She was so sure that he hadn't been there when she climbed into bed.

Did he slip in while she was asleep? It was his room, after all.
