12 Receptionist Girl

Right after we had our breakfast, we check out from the inn and planning to straightaway heading to the Achbale. But then, Hannelle suddenly remembered that she had to meet someone in this town. I don't really need to rush to Achbale so I just followed her to meet her friend.

And so, here we are in front of a Hunter's Guild. I did hear from Hannelle last night that she work as a hunter. But right now she's on a break because there's a relative that she needed to pay for a visit at Achbale.

"Miss. Hannelle! You came. I've been waiting."

When we were inside, there's immediately someone who called for Hannelle from the receptionist table. It's a beautiful young girl with brown ponytail waving excitingly to us. She looks like she's about the same age as me maybe a slightly older. I got a nostalgic feeling by looking at her.

Oh! The receptionist girl. In the game, the player can take a side quest at the hunter's guild to collect money or gain some experience to level up. I remember that girl because there's a special side quest the player can take from her. I am surprised to know that some of the NPC also exist in this world. It's like a cameo. It's exciting some times.

"Yo, Anna. Getting used to working already?"

"Yes. I feel more relaxed now. Thank you so much as always, Miss Hannelle."

So, her name is Anna. I don't remember she's having a name in the game. People just called her the receptionist girl.

Later, she noticed my presence standing besides Hannelle.

"Is this your new partner? I don't think I ever met her before."

"Ah. This is Eden. She not a hunter. We were just traveling together for the time being."

"Please to meet you, Miss. Eden. My name is Anna. I just started to work here as a receptionist 6 months ago. If you ever interested to become a hunter, feel free to ask me. I will do my best to guide you."

Her face was glowing with sweetness all over. I can imagine that every man's heart fluttered to Anna.

"Sorry, but I don't have any plan to become a hunter."

"Really? That's too bad. We usually only have tough-looking men around here. I thought that we can finally have some cute girls joining us."

Anna drops her shoulder feeling disappointed. The quest mostly consists of hunting some beast. So it requires someone with high strength and skills in battle to do the job. Apart from that, there's also some odd job such as escorting, delivering and searching. It depends on the hunters which jobs to partake.

"So, I was asked to see you. What is it?"

As Hannelle ask her that, Anna instantly entered her work mode.

"I heard that you are going to Achbale. I received a job from the guild over there to deliver some items as soon as possible. Here is one of the requested items but one of them needed to be collected on the way. The problem is a class A hunter is needed to grab the item. But all of the class A hunters are away so when I heard that you are here in town last day, I'm a bit relieved."

Anna put a bag that contains the quest's item on the counter. Hannelle ignores the bag instead she rested her elbows on the counter before she asked Anna more.

"What kind of item is the other one?"

"It's the heart of a fire bat the closest one is inside a cave where lies the Cry Princess."

Suddenly, the surrounding atmosphere around both of them turns heavy.

"The fire bat is just a class C beast but the place is dangerous. I can go if I was alone but."

"Yes. I think so too. It's dangerous for Miss Eden to tag along."

"We can go to the other place to get the item but the other place was really far to the north and we kind of in a hurry right now. I'm sorry but I have to decline."

"It's ok. I can protect myself."

Startled by my sudden interference, both of Hannelle and Anna looked at me startled.

"Eden, even if you can use a bit of magic still I cannot allow. It is a very dangerous and troublesome place. Even I wish to avoid going there as much as I want."

"That's true Miss Eden. They said, if the crying Princess is awake, and noticed you, she will drag you into the deepest part of the cave. Afterward, you can never leave."

Both of them insist to convince me that this job is too dangerous for me but I don't want to be the reason Hannelle turns down this job. Besides, I smell an adventure. Not every day I get a chance to experience something adventurous like this. My youth is hungry for new experiences.

"Well, we just can run away after the Princess noticed us, right?"

I asked, baffled. I mean, it's not going to be that bad right? Or am I underestimate the place too much?

Hannelle rubs her temple for a second before she lowers herself to level her eyes with mine. She's not smiling or angry. Her face wanted to clearly convey to me that this is a life and death matter.

"The point is Eden, you can't even have a chance to run away when it's come to that. The Princess will charm you with her magic."

Yep. I did underestimate the place too much. I just sound too arrogant just now right? Ugh. now I feel bad.

"So, is there a way to avoid being noticed?"

"There are only two ways that we know. The common is to conceal your presence with concealment skills. While the other one is the easiest. To avoid the princess's gaze with darkness. But it's hard to find a mage that can use darkness these days. "

When I heard the word darkness, I forcefully answered her.

"Then, it's not a problem."

"Huh?"

I get closer to the bewildered Hannelle and whisper into her ear.

"I can use darkness."

Hannelle's eyes are wide open in disbelief. She held onto both of my shoulders and shout at me.

"Really?"

I nod repeatedly. Ugh. Hannelle, your voice was too loud. My ears hurt.

Darkness is a dark kind of magic to conceal the presence of the caster and his or her respected area. However, this spell has its own flaws. It has to be used within the darkness and it won't work under the presence of sunlight or light type of magic. In the past, I practice darkness seriously to hide from people inside the manor.

I don't want to brag but I have an aptitude for three types of elements which are ice, thunder, and dark. I am pretty confident in my magic skills. Furthermore, I also had a magic tutor before. Only after getting engaged to the prince, my mother said that it's useless to practice magic anymore. So she forbid me to practice magic and forced me to focus on queen lessons. However, I love magic so much that I decided to keep on training by myself in secrecy.

"Alright. Let's go right away. If we manage to get the item sooner, we can reach Achbale before sunset."

Hannelle grabs the bag on the counter before turns to the door.

"What? I don't understand. Please explain to me."

Seeing our sudden agreement, Anna curiously pressed us for an answer but Hannelle just brushes her off.

"It's nothing, Anna. I will ask the Achbale guild to send you a letter after we delivered the items to them. If there is nothing else, we will take our leave now. See ya."

"Wait! I want to know too."

Ignoring her, Hannelle continues to walk out of the guild without even turn to look at Anna. Felling awry of Anna's frustration, I hesitate to follow Hannelle's back. Then, Hannelle grabs my hand and pulls me out with her.

"Is it ok not to tell her?"

"Yep. You don't have any interest to be a hunter anyway."

Heard Hannelle's words, a content smile formed on my face. Though I dislike that she treats me like a child, I am so satisfied by how she is always so thought full and considerate of me.

I'm glad I met with Hannelle.
