8 Review: Front Page (Synopsis)

Title: Lily Means to Stay True to Your Heart

- Interesting title. It's nice and long and seems to summarize what the story is going to be centred around.

- Lily means to stay true to your heart. Does she mean to stay true to the readers' hearts?

- Whose heart is it? Lily doesn't stay true to HER heart but means to stay true to YOUR heart.

- I might not need to read the synopsis as it might just be the exact same thing with added detail.

P1:

- Protagonist's name is Lily, but we already knew that from reading the title.

- The protagonist is chosen to be a beta tester among millions of applicants? or perhaps more?

- But considering it says "one of the lucky few", there may only be a handful of beta testers. At most a dozen or two.

- I mean, lucky "few," few doesn't imply a hundred or more, it's usually referring to a small number.

- The game is called "World of Ascension"

-- This would have been okay on its own as a title, but the author decides not to follow the trend and writes the synopsis into the title instead. So that readers have a clear idea of what they're going into.

- Chinese Fantasy Adventure Simulation.

-- Dunno why the author didn't capitalize Adventure and Simulation.

-- they must have their reasons.

- beta testing a month prior to release with only a lucky few testers.

-- I'm guessing from this statement alone that there are more testers that are employed by the company, and the "lucky few" who were chosen to be beta testers are players who won a lottery to "play" the game before it's out and to look out for bugs and glitches and exploits.

- I'll be looking forward to how Lily finds any bugs/glitches/exploits and reports them.

- But considering how the title says, "Lily Means to Stay True to Your Heart" and not HER HEART...

- Will this novel be in the second-person narrative at some point?

- Unlike other popular MMOs.

-- Well considering how the game wasn't mentioned as an MMO up until now, it's a new description that made me do a double take on the sentence prior to this one.

- a game with [a] unique rank system that start[s] players as farmers working their way up the ladder into becoming [g]ods.

-- note, unless you're religious, you wouldn't really write gods with a capital G. It's religiously offensive and may tick off readers who are religious.

- In a world as harsh as that of the real world.

-- It's a game.

-- She's a beta-tester.

-- She's on the lookout for bugs and glitches and possible hacks and game-breaking exploits.

-- Since that's what beta-testers do.

- Will she stay true to her heart?

-- Who knows? The title didn't say HER heart, so maybe the author is trying to confuse us readers by saying two different things in the Title and the Synopsis?

- She's a beta-tester so she has to stay true to her heart and report the possible glitches she finds, anyways.

- Or is this story going to be about her struggle as a beta-tester and whether to report a game-breaking exploit or keep it to herself?

Overall:

There were a few inconsistencies that lead to a major plot hole, just from how the synopsis is worded.
