6 The lake

Luna opened her eyes, but she just lay there. She lay thinking about the dream, or whatever it would be called.

What was going on with the massacre, and why had one let Selene escape, and where was she now, Luna thought. Deep down, she knew the answer well, but did not want to realize it yet.

She sat up and looked over at what had once been, a pile of berries. Luna would have to go out into the woods to find something to eat. Her heart started beating fast and she felt pressure on her chest.

Time passed, and finally it started to slow down. This was because of a thought, for if she did not soon take care of herself, and come out of the cave and into the forest, she would not survive. Several days had passed without her getting water, and it would probably become critical if she did not find anything soon.

She got up and her whole body began to ache.

The stretch took some time, but it did wonders. Doing stretching exercises was not a new thing for her.

She had once had a friend who had taught her something about self-defence, so she could defend herself if something were to happen to her. It was many years ago, and after she and her mother had moved away, she had not heard from him again.

The sun was almost completely up in the sky now, but there was still a hint of pink to be traced. It was going to be a good day, there was not a cloud to see in the sky, and there was a nice warm temperature.

She started walking out into the woods. Everything was green and the sun was peeking out between the branches, so the reflections from there hit Luna in the face. However, it was not something she herself noticed as she was constantly looking down at the forest floor.

After a while she found some berries similar to those that had been in the pile.

She ate until she no longer felt hungry, and then began to gather the rest together. It ended up being a fair amount and she started moving on.

It was not easy to find a place with water. She was constantly trying to keep an eye on where she was coming from. She had to do this so she would not get lost. It would not be good if that happened, because then she would lose her safe place

Suddenly she saw something out of the corner of her eye. It flashed and had the nice refraction that you only see when you are near water. She wanted to run, bit stopped herself so she would not drop the berries.

It was a small lake, which was hidden by bushes and trees.

She laid the berries gently on the bank, and looked down into the water. It looked very clean, but she did not have time to think about it, she just needed something to drink. She stuck her whole head into the water, to get as much down at once as she could. It took some time before she had quenched her thirst.

She pulled her head out of the water, and put her hair behind her ears. Right there it dawned on her that she had not looked properly when she had come to the water.

It was not just something her head had been trying to convince her about. But it could not be true, it could not be possible.

Why should it happen right now? Her face was a little thinner and you could see rifts, but there was no question about it. Her head was stuffed with thoughts, but one was more dominant than the others

She had become Selene.
