10 The Warning

After eating lunch, we visited the inn, we'll be staying at, to put away our bags, and went for a walk around the city while waiting for the test to begin.

"Still, the Capital isn't much different than Cisus. Aside from the Royal Castle, this city doesn't have anything interesting to see"

Orfia said in a disappointed tone, followed by Tero's sigh.

"Yeah, you're right, I was really looking forward to this trip..."

The two of them sighed in dissaponiment.

Did these two forget about the reason why we are here in the first place?

"You may be right, this place doesn't have something that will leave a mark in our memory, but we only came here to test whether or not we are qualified to become an adventurer, and if you want to go to a place where you can have some fun, The City Of Dreams, Porygon, would be more fitting"

I reminded the two, as we walk without an apparent destination.

A few moments later.

We were just walking to pass off the time...

So why did it come to this?

Before me was a bald muscular man, wielding a swiss knife on his right hand, as his four companions beside him slowly cover up our route of escape.

No matter how you look at it, we are clearly getting mugged. The baldy was swinging his knife around, and doing tricks, as he said:

"Hey, you three are from Cytus Academy right? We know a friend that works there, so can you be so kind as to tell me where he is? That way we can spare your life"

The man licked the knife in front of me, as the other four slowly walks closer.

To think that there are these kinds of guys wandering about in the Capital. I thought this was supposed to be a well-maintained city.

I sighed and said:

"Spare just our lives, huh?"

I turn my thumb sideways and points at my two companion

"Listen, I know you despise someone in the academy, and want to beat the shit out of them, but if you can't defeat the student that study there, what makes you think you can defeat the one that works there?"

I sneered at them.

"HUH?!"

Of course, what I said would make them angry, but it was all part of the plan.

"Are you making fun of us-?"

When someone is angry their moves will become easy to read, I use this chance to attack, while he was talking.

I quickly amplify my hands with cold magic that I have already combined while we were talking and freezes the knife along with his arm. This way we won't have to worry about getting stabbed.

As if on cue, Orfia and Tero, followed my lead, and quickly attack the distracted muggers.

Tero attack one of them by punching him on the gut, at that moment a magic circle appeared between Tero's fist and the mugger's stomach, and before I knew it the mugger went flying as if being thrown away by a bazooka, he went fifty feet away.

If there wasn't a building there, how far will he be blown away?

At the same time, Orfia created a  magic circle underneath and on top of the two muggers that are infront of her. Without breaking a sweat, she froze them head to toe.

As expected of the academy strongest, she didn't even move an inch of her body, and just stood there silently.

While Tero and Orfia was fighting, the leader combined and uses heat magic to melt the ice on his arm.

It seems that we underestimated him. Weak or not he's still the leader, he knows what he's doing

But it was futile.

After the ice melted, a magic circle appeared on top of the dripping water on his arm.

He stared at the magic circle in sorrow, as if he thought it was going to be some kind of offensive magic.

I turned back the water's time, and it becomes frozen solid again.

He stared at his right arm that is now frozen again.

"... Kid, is this your skill?"

I was surprised at how calm he is. As if he already prepared some kind of strategy to deal with this kind of situation.

"Yeah, it is"

I replied cautiously, and looks at his companion.

One of them is unconscious, and covered in bricks, the other two were frozen head to toe by Orfia's skill.

No matter what he do, there's no way he can win this pointless fight.

As I was musing on the situation at hand, the leader suddenly began to laugh.

"Hahaha, interesting, truly interesting. What that bastard said was actually true. Hahahaha!"

After he was done laughing, he smiled at us and said:

"You guys better be careful... That son of a bitch, Sinha isn't the kind of guy you'd want as a guardian"

It seems that the guy they wanted to beat the shit out, was our headmaster, Sinha.

But I didn't disagree at his statement. The first time I met him, he had a dark and disturbing aura that surrounds him. After seeing that I wasn't sure if I could trust him. I'm also curious on what kind of relationship he and Ezza have.

"Chrono, these people are illusions"

Orfia explained to me about this situation.

"Yeah, thanks"

"My name is Darto, it is unfortunate, but we cannot talk for much longer, so before I go, be careful about your headmaster"

We stared silently at him, and as he was smiling at us, he disappeared from the wind along with his two frozen companions.

The guy that Tero punched wasn't an illusion, which means that the moment they saw his power, the leader used his skill to create illusion and fled with his two friends. The reason why we didn't notice them fleeing might be because of one of his companion's skill.

"What was that?"

Tero questioned what just happened, but unfortunately I don't have the answer.

"I don't know, but more importantly, we should report this guy to the guards"

I look at the poor, unconscious, companion of Darto, that was left behind.

At that moment we heard footsteps coming at us from behind.

After hearing that, we immediately turned around, but there was nothing there.

I quickly turned around, and the guy I thought was left behind,

"He disappeared!"

Tero stated the obvious.

There was no point in standing around idling there, so we head back, and report the incident to the guards, the guard said that they'll handle it.

There are 2 more hours until the test, with nothing to do, we head back to the inn, and lay at our seperate bed in seperate room.
