6 Magic

The bell rang, signaling the end of today's classes. After 5 years of not using my brain, it would be hard for me to acclimate to the situation.

As the bell rang, and the teacher leaving the room, I stare at the setting sun from the classroom window. While admiring the beauty of this world, the door to the classroom opened, and a girl slowly walks towards me.

After she get close to me, I turned around to make eye contact with her,

"The headmaster wants to see you" It was Orfia.

"Alright, let me pack my things first" I grab my books, and head to Sinha's office with Orfia.

After arriving, I opened the door, and walks inside the room only to be greeted by Sinha's eery presence as he sits quietly on his desk.

"Ah, Chrono, thanks for coming in such a short notice" he smiled after he sees me.

"It's no big deal," I walked to him normally

"I have nothing to do anyways"

"How was you first day at this school?"

"Well," I scratch my cheek, and smiled nervously

"It takes some getting used to"

Sinha giggles, and stands up to approach me.

"Chrono, are you interested in magic?"

"Yes! Ezza told me that you can combine the basic types of magic to create new types, the very concept of combining two things to create a new thing peek my interest"

"That's good to hear, now then," Sinha snaps his finger, and Orfia walks inside the room

"As you know, Orfia is currently the strongest student in this academy, and as of now she'll be teaching you how to use magic"

I went silent for a moment to process the information.

I slap my cheeks to make sure I'm not daydreaming.

"Yes, alright" I responded in a calm tone, but inside I was nervous to no end.

And so, my daily routine of learning magic every day with Orfia begins.

Every morning I wake up early to study and remember each combination of magic, Orfia instructed me to exercise more because apparently combining magics consumes a lot of stamina.

It was a grueling month.

"Oi, Chrono you alright?" Tero is standing besides my soon-to-be dead body.

"... I'm fi... ne" my head hurts, and my muscles are sore.

"Chrono, I know you need to catch up, but don't you think this is overdoing it?" Tero put his hands on his hips and looks at me with a worried look

"It's fine, besides, today is the last day."

As soon as I said that, Orfia opens the classroom door, and walks towards me,

"Chrono, today's the last day of your training," She points at me with expectations

"Show me what you've learned this past month!" Orfia smiled at me.

After seeing her like that, I smiled back, and stand up.

"Guess I've got no choice," I head outside with a face full of confidence.

But as I was walking... I passed out from fatigue.

Tero and Orfia stares at my body, disappointed.

After a few days of resting, I'm finally ready to show off the results of the one month training.

As I stand on the middle of the training ground, Sinha, Orfia, Tero, and the other students, watches closely at what I'm going to do.

I put my hand on the air as I begin to combine the magics, and start saying incantations to make the magic even more powerful

"O, God of this world, lent me your power, and bestow upon me the strength of the lord of flames and water,"

At the palm of my hand, a magic circle appear, and steam started to come out, after combining it with the air, clouds started to form.

I smiled at how smoothly this little show of mine is going.

I combine the clouds with water magic, and it started to rain. As the droplets of rains falls down I use my skill, a magic circle appear under my feet, I stopped the time of everything above the circle, and as the droplets float in the air, I combine air magic and the cold temperature produced by the rain together and freeze the droplets in the air.

"Phew, combining magics and using my skill at the same time is really exhausting" I catch my breath for a second.

I use air magic to send the frozen water into the sky. As it soar into the sky, I sped up time around it, causing it to melt and burst into tiny drops of waters that glitters in the moonlit night.

I bow my head to the audience as the waters shines around me.

I immediately sat down from exhaustion as Orfia and Tero runs straight at me.

"That was amazing, Chrono!" Tero gave me a thumbs up

"To think that you could combine two magics in such a short period of time, as well as using your skill simultaneously, in only a month training" Orfia smiled as she congratulate me.

Tero helps me get up, and as I saw the crowds cheering and clapping at me, I smiled.

My life in that alleyway is over, this is where I begin anew!

"Chrono..." She stares at a mirror, that's reflecting Chrono, with a worried expression.

"He has talent. No need to worry about him." a ball of light suddenly appears and floats around Ezza.

"Yes, yes, he also has friends that he can count on." another light appears, but this time it shines a bright blue color.

"I wonder about that," a bright red colored light appears, and floats on Chrono's reflection

"Another calamity lord will soon appear along with it's subordinates, can he really protect this world from it?"
