A Parcel.

📝

The street was quite and deserted. The only person on this empty road was MinJun himself. The traffic light at the road intersection was frozen still displaying the

blood-red colour.

Looking around MinJun spotted a closed store opposite to him. Only then he was able to figure out his current emplacement. But this realisation didn't reassure MinJun instead it developed a kind of fear. His heart shook like a leaf. Cold drops of sweat rolled down his forehead.

Thump.Thump.

Seconds and minutes passed by slowly accelerating his heartbeat.

MinJun was scared pale. He tried to cry out but to avail his voice was trapped in his throat. His eyelids trembled. The trickling tears moisten his eyelashes.

But the boy across remained clueless. He kept fiddling with his hands smiling and sometimes furrowing in between his goofy smiles. He took a step forward followed by second and third only stopping by mid-way.

From the left rushed a honking car driving in a serpentine pattern.MinJun who had forseen the events bawled till his throat burned with pain but was unable to make a sound. Like a gush of a wind the car ran over the boy. The crimson liquid flowed like a stream dying the road red.MinJun watched dumbstruck. Soon his legs gave up and he fell down on his knees. One after another the surrounding buildings collapsed until everything was swallowed by darkness.

MinJun slowly opened his eyes. The alarm clock by the side of his bed showed it was ten in the morning. Every morning he would wake up from the repeated nightmare- scared and pale. His body rinsed with cold sweat droplets and his pillow soaked with his tears. It has been this way for almost 10 years.

The growling sound made by his stomach brought MinJun back from the trance. After completing his daily morning routine MinJun dine his breakfast and started to pack up his things.

Tsk. Moving out sure is annoying.

Finishing up it was four in the evening. The boxes were already settled inside the car send by the van line. MinJun bid farewell to the Landlady who had come to send him off. He thanked her again and drove his car over his new address.

BLOCK-1, BUILDING NO.03.

HaeSung hastily ran inside the house. He double checked the living room but couldn't find the thing he was looking for.

"Ma. Where is my parcel?"

Mrs.Wurt was in the kitchen preparing feast for tonight while Mr.Wurt was helping her running small errands such as washing vegetables and rinsing rice.

"Hasn't arrived yet.HaeSung, play in your room for now."

It was five yet the parcel wasn't arrived. Dejected HaeSung returned to his room closing the door behind. He glanced above where a clock was hung on the wall.

Although his grandparents send him presents every year but this time was something different. Yesterday on the phone call, his grandpa had promised to send him a special treasure. That's why HaeSung was excited to receive this mysterious present.

HaeSung looked up again. Only five minutes had passed from then. Frustrated HaeSung walked over his wardrobe and opened the door. He squatted down. From a corner he drew out colours, brushes and a canvas.

Since his childhood HaeSung was fan of paintings and was also a profound artist. He had planned to take art as his major but was rejected by his parents. HaeSung couldn't understand why they were dead stuck to separate him from his hobby but not to anger them any more he promised not to touch the brush ever again.

But it was difficult to get done than said. Thus like a thief he hid his things and painted in secret.

HaeSung took out a white sheet on which was the sketch of a lady. She was Mrs.Wurt, his mother. When everything was taken out the doorbell rang. HaeSung put back the things and locked the door again.

"HaeSung. Get your parcel."

From the kitchen came the soft voice.

"Coming Ma."

HaeSung ran across the living room and opened the door. The delivery man passed him a square box with a black and white panda sticker on top of it.

After receiving the parcel HaeSung darted back to his room.

"Don't run, dear boy."

Mr.Wurt scolded helplessly.

"Got it dad."

HaeSung sat crossed leg on his bed and unwrapped the present. It was a rotatory phone. Although old enough than the dinosaur remains it was well cared by the owner.Beneath it was a chit of paper.

"It helped me to woo your grandma. Now it's your turn to bring me a grand daughter in law."

Reading the content HaeSung didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He was eighteen today, alright.

"HaeSung, come for dinner."

Mrs.Wurt called for her son. HaeSung with utmost care placed the treasure on his study table and walked out the room.

MinJun had finished unpacking his things and was now resting on the sofa in the living room. His new house was cleaned without a speck of dust in sight. It was well furnished with three rooms ; one being a kitchen.

Out of tiredness MinJun was about to close his eyes when he heard the doorbell ring. He reluctantly got up and opened the door. To his surprise he met no one except a square box with a panda sticker. He looked around but caught no one within his view. He hesitated for a while then picked the box and walked inside the house.
